Thought it would be appropriate to include Axl’s cheeky comments referencing the riot at the NITL show Montreal 2017...
when talking about the venue he said something like “ah, the saint laurence river...they knew better than to put you and I in a stadium together! They tried that!”
and after paradise city he goes “Thank you! We tore this place up without...tearing it apart”
Nice that he can kind of joke about himself now.

Corey Taylor...apparently he was in talks to be the singer of VR but it didn’t end up happening...and if you can’t get past hearing that Slipknot voice, please please listen to his cover of Outshined by soundgarden or him singing the song Taciturn live. I would have never guessed it was him singing those songs like a year ago.

I don't really want to get too involved in the speculation here, but I think there's a point worth mentioning.
These bootlegs have (or have had) intrinsic value to some people in the past. Bootlegs have been sold, traded and even used as some sort of 'status tool' by weird individuals. The "I've got something you haven't, so I'm special" attitude. The latter issue is incredibly important to sad little people who have absolutely nothing in their lives. They're the kid in the playground who has no friends, is disliked, but has the one sticker or trading card others need to complete their collection. It makes them feel big.
Bootlegs and other material being freely available removes all that. It allows others to have what they might have, removes it's status, and means it can't be sold for money on the blackmarket (something we know was happening).
These very peculiar individuals have a lot of personal interest in removing this material from the internet - from financial, to personal. They want to protect their own interests: and it's within their own power to do so. They can even cloak it in a veil of righteousness along the lines of 'bootlegging is illegal, we're protecting the artists', but ultimately it boils down to one fact: they're removing it for themselves.
Just to jump in here, I’ve seen this exact thing happen...Some youtuber posted a cover of the guitar solo from that old sweet child o mine demo that was removed from YouTube and when someone asked him if he had the original video, he goes “yeah but my buddy gave it to me and he doesn’t want me to share it”. Exactly like having a special trading card on the playground...sad.

The thing that strikes me as bizarre with this Axl/DC stuff is that I was always under the impression that the big musical difference between Axl and Slash was that Axl DID NOT want to record AC/DC style rock music.
it always seemed like Slash was the one who wanted to do simple, classic rock music and Axl obviously went with the CD-style stuff.
So now, if true, Axl is leaving his own band to the side to record the type of music that he did not want to do and that was part of the reason for his own band’s breakup???? It doesn’t make sense to me...

I'd love to hear Locomotive, even if it's just a jam with no vocals, kinda like that Paris 1992 soundcheck video. Otherwise, there's like 3 layers of Axl vocals on the chorus, he can just use the lowest voice live. I looove Coma so I'd just replace black hole sun with locomotive.
I know it's been mentioned before, but switch out the seeker for you're crazy "funky" version...I don't care if axl talks out the whole song, it'd still be +1 gnr song.
Switch out Better for Pretty tied up, same place in setlist. I don't think pretty tied up would be difficult for axl to sing (he's been doing songs like coma and twat so...), and I think it's the type of song that casuals could get into as well..cool riff, catchy chorus, you're good!
Also, just for some variety, every once in a while switch out one of duff's songs with so fine.

I was totally into the Conspirators stuff before the reunion...but now that Axl and Slash are getting along and the whole world knows GNR is back together, HOW can you possibly go back to anything else? No matter where Axl and Slash go from gnr, it’s a downgrade.
...unless y’all are right and Axl truly will never release new music

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but here

Does anyone have a video of axl's little comments about "they couldn't put you and us in a stadium together again!" or "we tore the place up without tearing it apart"?....or just a video of the whole concert?

Regarding the Montreal litho, also just wanted to point out that the little mountain in the background to the left with the cross on it clearly represents Mount Royal which is basically what Montreal is built on and around. Not super prominent but a nice little touch!

Axl's comment at the end was great. "And it was... Awesome! We tore the place up without tearing the place apart!"
He made another cheeky comment relating to the '92 riot sometime at the beginning about...something about how when they were told they were going to play in Montreal they were like "well where are we going to have this show?" and then said something like "surely they aren't going to enclose me and you guys in a stadium together!"

Do the merch trucks close when the show starts or can you get your merch during the show if you want?
-
Do you guys know if i'll be able to buy merch (t-shirt) at around 5:30 when I get to the site? Or does the merch truck close before the doors open?
-
Random question but do you guys know if they sell gnr NITL bumper stickers or vinyl decals at the shows? I collect them from every vacation spot or event I go to.

So they released some 30$ zone 4 tickets (comes out to 44$ with fees and tax) today and updated the venue layout. So they basically took that large zone 3 and divided it into zone 3 and 4...which sucks if you payed 125$ for zone 3 tickets that you can now get for 44$....
Anyways, did anybody hear what the visibility was like at the Metallica show if you were in the back? It's a flat terrain and I'm 5"1 lol.

In Estranged there's this sound/note Slash makes right before the main riff or hook or whatever (clearly I'm no musician) that he never seems to do live. For example, exactly at 2:27 and especially at 3:19 in the video from the guns n' roses vevo...And I find that sound gives the riff a heavier feel, I always wondered why he doesn't play it like that live. I know I'm just being nitpicky but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Since there seems to be some ranting going over here, can I vent a little bit too?
So about the setlist, I've always forced myself to be open-minded and think like "It's ok if they play 3-4 CD songs. It's so that Axl doesn't feel like the past 20 years were a waste, it makes him happy. And Slash makes them sound OK now :)". But you know what? NO. I'm lying to myself. The fact that you can go to a concert and NOT HEAR Don't cry and My Michelle, but get Better and TIL and CD is NOT OKAY.
If you tell someone "Better is a staple, but Don't Cry is not", you'll realize how RIDICULOUS that sounds.
Just cut down KOHD to 6-7 minutes and then play both Patience/Don't cry or add in My michelle or Out ta get me as staples!
And then, when they bring in Angus for a few songs, or they're late because of traffic or whatever and they need to cut down the setlist, the song they decide to cut is COMA??????? REALLY???? Yet the CD songs are immune to ever being cut.I feel like I can never talk about badly about the CD songs on the main forum because for some people, if you don't like CD then you're not a TrU fAn. I've tried to like that album, I honestly have, and I just can't. The fact that true GNR classics are being cut to make room for CD songs and covers is insane to me. (However, I'd have no problem with CD songs if Don't Cry/Patience/OTGM/Michelle were played every night)
Something else I neee to vent about...I haven't noticed this in videos until recently because usually the one filming is not focusing on fortus, and neithar am I...but why is he constantly punching his guitar? I just watched a video of November Rain and for some reason he was freaking punching his guitar, and it was during the slow part of the song, not even at the end solo! Like, relax dude...
Sweet Child O' Mine...I will be singing along to this song no matter what BUT I think that maybe if they try playing the song slower like in the early demo, Axl may be able to sing at a lower register, and Slash may become interested it again since the demo has a much heavier feel to it.
OK I'M DONE.
Btw, I am one of those people who is extremely grateful for this reunion and who still sees Axl and Slash on the same stage and thinks "wow". When I finally get to see them for the first time this summer, I know I will have a great time no matter what! Just feels good to let this stuff out for once with no filter!!!- 8

Even though Avenged Sevenfold is a big enough band, Im sure that most of the band looked up to Metallica at some point in their life, more than System of a Down looked up to Guns N Roses. Although Slash has met Daron from SOAD at one point, so there could be some friendliness there, but Axl "blamed" SOAD/their crew for GNRs lateness at Rock in Rio in 2011
Agh you're right, I totally forgot about the rock in rio thing! I'm pretty sure Slash performed with Shavo too at some point so I was putting my hopes into a mini-connection (but then again, Slash has worked with like, everybody). Anyways, money talks but SOAD are more of a dream opener for me than a realistic prediction, unfortunately

Personally I'd love to see System of a Down open for Guns. They seem to be doing a few festivals in Europe during the beginning of the summer, and if I'm not mistaken they're working on releasing a new album soon. I doubt they'd agree to be openers since they're big enough to headline their own concert...but then again, Metallica got Avenged Sevenfold so I can dream! I think guns will need some big openers to help sell out a lot of these US/Canada shows.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mind Alter Bridge. People like to make the Myles vs Axl comparisons, but considering ONLY his own material, I like Myles.

So today, I thought about our Boys and GnR and what would could have been. Metallica presale tickets went on sale today, and all of a sudden my office was filled with all kinds of people (young/old, men/women, liberal/conservatives) trying to get tickets online..I was floored at the diversity and chaos for Metallica (I am a fan, BTW)...But then I thought of when GnR went on sale last year, and I was the only one talking about it, trying to frantically get tickets, and I was Ecstatic (co workers didn't quite get me)...What could have been if we had more original GnR music...Wish we had more music! I LOVE my Guns and they are my band, but was surprised by the Metallica frenzy..just makes you go,,,hmmmm
I had to reply to this because I was literally just thinking about the same thing! (hello hello, I rarely ever post but I loved to follow and read the other women's thread)
Just looking at the facebook events for guns and metallica in my city, the guns page, after all this time has 3K people that clicked "going" whereas the metallica event, after just a few days already has 6k going. I always thought guns would be more popular among the general public...I mean they really have a little bit of everything!
Into pop music? you'll like sweet child and patience. Into metal? you'll probably like perfect crime and you're crazy (fast). into country vibes? try you ain't the first, dead flowers, bad obsession...Not to mention the popular jungle/paradise city/november rain! On the other hand, I've always viewed metallica as straight up metal (i do like metallica, not as much as guns though). I just think guns cover more bases.
I was seriously surprised to see the demand for metallica was sooooo much larger than for guns...I feel like gnr needs to put up some billboards that indirectly say "SLASH AND AXL ARE BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!" because a alot of people still think axl's touring with the CD lineup for some reason... -

The biggest complaint on the fb page I help with is where Patience
I'm not usually a setlist complainer and I know I'll be too happy to care about the details of the setlist when I see them live, but I truly don't understand why they can't play both patience and don't cry at each show, especially when they're taking up almost 7 minutes for Sorry of all songs

As someone who has never seen them live (yet), the only thing that bothers me about the current setlist is that don't cry isn't played every night. I don't see why it gets the 50/50 treatment with patience...being one of the earliest songs gnr played together, as early as 1985 (acoustically) if I'm not mistaken, you'd think it would have some meaning and be a staple. I'm sure most can agree that there are other songs that can be cut or shortened to accommodate don't cry!
Otherwise, I'd take "you're crazy" (slow version) over the seeker...even if it means singing it in a low voice with zero rasp as a break for axl before PC.
...and I just hope they keep playing coma

Looking at a map, it looks like Heavy MTL is on St. Helen's, yeah. Does Parc Jean Drapeau span more than one island? I assumed it was contained to St. Helen's. So I could very well be wrong if that's the case - I've only been to that festival once, so I'm going off of that.
Parc drapeau includes St. Helens where there's festivals like heavy mtl, ile soniq, osheaga, also laronde and the biosphere. It also includes notre dame island which has the casino and the racetrack. So yeah it's divided in two. And gnr are for sure playing on the racetrack. Also in a newspaper they were calling it a "new concert location" so unfortunately I don't think it's the same place as the main heavy mtl stage :/

Was this on ile notre dame though? I'm pretty sure heavy mtl was always on St. Helens island...hopefully I'm wrong though because that setup looks so much better than a flat terrain

Anyone have an idea where this will be placed? I've been looking at the park map of ile Notre Dame and can't find an area that fits the shape shown on evenko. If it's on the racing circuit, will we be able to use the stands/bleachers? Or is the ground sloped at all? Asking because I'm 5"1 and have tickets in zone 3 lol

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread but I'm just wondering if any of the big youtube channels, or anyone really, has started uploading videos on some other platform? It's hard to believe that these live videos are just going to remain wiped off the internet. Basically, is there any sort of solution to this in the works or should I start downloading and hoarding all remaining gnr youtube videos before they get knocked off too?...I can't even find good quality full versions of live in paris or live in tokyo 1992 anymore, which used to be suuuuuuper common...
