What? Yes there was. It leaked a month or two ago when the official version was originally supposed to drop but it postponed until December. Someone leaked demos of The General and Monster. Anyway, why aren’t Slash and Duff on this? Who’s playing on it?

Do Slash and Duff even play on this one? So far, the leftover Chinese Democracy stuff they’ve been releasing clearly has new bass and guitar work from Duff and Slash but the officially released version of The General sounds exactly the same as the leaked demo. Kinda weird. Does anyone know who plays on this?

That’s what I’ve been thinking.
Currently, Spotify is showing GnR for Perhaps, The General, Atlas and ‘Soul Mon’ 🇯🇲
Where? What are you talking about?

That is pretty awesome actually! I have always wondered what that version of RQ sounds like unaltered, with Axl's original vocals as well as the rhythm guitar recording intact
I always knew Axl re-did some vocals in the studio for Live Era, but I didn’t know they replaced Izzy’s guitar tracks. Who did the overdubs?
-
Things I’m hoping for:
A properly mixed/mastered version of Ain’t Goin’ Down
Alternate mixes of the songs recorded during the Illusions sessions that ended up on the Spaghetti Incident, but with Izzy’s original guitar tracks intact instead of Gilby’s overdubs. I’m not sure which Spaghetti Incident songs were recorded during the Illusions sessions and originally had Izzy playing on them, but I’ve always heard it’s at least a few songs

After hearing Hard Skool, I’m really nervous the new album is going to kinda suck. I’m sure the songs will be solid, but Absurd and Hard Skool are mixed like crap. And Frank’s drumming on Hard Skool…. yikes. I know the guy is a good drummer but he simply does not vibe with this band. I don’t really get what Axl’s thinking insisting they use him
-
If I had to guess, I’d say it’s Frank. And they also quantized the drums in pro tools. It honestly sounds kinda shitty. The Village sessions leak of the song has a way better drum performance and they’re insane for not using it. I really liked the fills before each chorus. The new drum track sucks.

All I know is when I read Slash or Duff saying things like “Tour has been great, Axl sounds amazing every night”.... I don’t get how they can say that sort of thing and keep a straight face

I'm confused, as there is a ton of Eagles stuff on youtube, live and studio.

This. If you want to listen in stereo listen to the stereo mix.
5.1 DTS Master Audio isn't really built for cell phones.
I just want to hear the individual stems... hear some of the stuff that’s been buried in the mix

Could someone please hook me up with isolated 5.1 tracks? My dad would never allow me to spend that much money for the 5.1 disc. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Yea, it was recorded among the Lies tracks and released on this:
Thanks for the info. I never owned that single so I'd never heard this alternate version and didn't know anything about it.

That was an alt. version that was b-side on the second release of the WTTJ single.
Oh okay. Do you happen to know during which session it was recorded? Around the same as Lies? Or earlier, like '86? The reason for my confusion is because on disc four, it's sandwiched between the Live like a Suicide and Lies tracks. So I'm guessing it goes with the Lies tracks?

You talking about the (west coast junkie) version? Well it's on the L&L recording right? So it must be Sound City Sessions. I assumed it was West Arkeen and a bunch buddies singing. Kind of like when they did Drunk Fux. Just a mix of whoever was there.
My apologies, it's actually the acoustic version of You're Crazy that I'm wondering about. Three versions appear. Sound City 86' Demo, the Lies version, and a version which appears on disc 2, track 6 of the 4-disc set.
-
I noticed a third acoustic version of Move to the City* included in the set. Not the Lies ‘88 version and not the Sound City demo... but another acoustic demo. The one with mulitple people doing the countdown at the beginning. When was this track recorded? Which studio? Which batch of songs does it go with?
* I meant "You're Crazy"

Maybe being saved for the Use your Illusion boxset?
I don’t think they’d save that demo for an Illusions reissue just because that song eventually ended up on Illusions. If so, they probably would have saved the November Rain and Back off Bitch demos for that as well.

Maybe Axl's embarrassed of the spoken words -part during the guitar solo. I know I would be if I was Axl.
You’re thinking of the version of Don’t Cry from the Mystic Studios session. He doesn’t do the spoken part in the Sound City demo, which is what was omitted from the rest of the Sound City demos in the box set.

I still struggle to find firm evidence of Think About You belonging to the bunch. I'd appreciate if someone pointed me out in the right direction
The evidence is the fact that the engineering is exactly the same. It's very obvious just listening to it that it was recording during the same sessions as the other four tracks.

Dying to hear this demo tape.

I’m pretty sure Don’t Cry was recorded during the Sound City session. I wonder why they chose to leave it off?

Would it be possible to somehow rip the blu ray audio to create stems and use them to mix your own version of the album with the buried parts highlighted, that way you could mix them down to wav, mp3, or whatever for a portable copy of the “surround sound mix”?

Ohhh okay. Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression the leaked versions were more village sessions leaks. The sound like demos. I can’t believe those are final versions of the songs. Lmao awful
