The reunion has been well covered in the news. One must have been living under a rock not to have registered that the guys are back together.

When the news first broke, it was headlining everywhere.

They could have made an effort promoting the tour itself with some appearances and interviews, but the tour has been well promoted in other manners. Both online, radio, TV and billboards around the cities.

An interview on national television would arguably make the most impact though, I agree on that.

I think they should appear on one of the late night shows. That way they can control what questions are asked.

they play games and manipulate the sales, hold alot of really good seats, add a 2nd show, and than release the good seats for the 1st show as the show gets closer, no concert is ever really a sell out if it is declared a sell out on the first day, especially a huge football stadium

I understand some of that, but the seats showing up for some of these 1st shows are not what I'd consider good seats. Thanks for responding.

I'm not sure why we're bickering about any of this.  We have Axl, Slash, and Duff on stage together.  That's a good thing regardless of whether it's Matt and Gilby or Frank and Richard with them.  If we're being honest (and I love Izzy as much as the next person) it wouldn't really matter to most that it's Izzy and Steven either.

As far as ticket sales, who cares?  Worst case is it's half empty and much easier in and out for those going.  More realistic they will be pretty full and the show will be fine.  It's like we as a community have some illness where we can't be happy.  Enjoy what we have because you could have what we had before or maybe even nothing.

What you said in your last sentence is exactly why ticket sales matter.

Several pages back I outlined a few things that would make this sell better. I put new music up there as well as smaller venues (arenas mostly with some scattered stadiums in big markets if need be) and cheaper prices. Live Nation got very cocky with their "reunion of the decade" that will be seen as a failure in many markets. It's a shame because this could have done much more business with some proper promotion and a combination of the other things. I don't even think Steven and Izzy would help at this point - most people checked out when they saw $250+ seats.

Yes, Yes and Yes. It is a shame and not near what I envisioned. That said, I still hold onto the hope that it can change, but they have to want it to.

There were targeted ads on my Facebook to win tickets for Toronto. We're talking about one of the shows that actually sold out. The comments on it were pathetic. People were confused because they thought the band had split while others said they wouldn't see Guns without Axl (assuming he was permanently in AC/DC). How could they fuck up the promotion this bad? Not that it matters for Toronto but it shows how a few billboards aren't enough for the general public and the lack of communication/clarifying things with fans. There are still people who have no idea what's going on or what the line-up is. What a shit show.

We also have to come to terms that Gn'R isn't as relevant today. People move on unfortunately. I used to think that if they ever get back together stadiums will sell out everywhere, quick. I was wrong. Although, new music would help alot.

He produced the intro to this song:

And I don't personally like them, but he produced this song:

Back before he was known as Skrillex, he went by his real name Sonny Moore and was in a post-hardcore band called 'From First to Last'. I'm not even a huge Skrillex fan, I just find his compositions interesting and think it's a disservice to box him in as only being able to create a particular type of music.

There is hope I guess. I am taking my daughter to the concert and when she found out Skrillex was opening she was excited, much to my dismay. Needless to say, I will be in the building when Skrillex is on stage for her. I will come back here and let everyone know how it went. Crowd reaction, ect....

Right. Anyone that thinks producing to the level of Skrillex is easy either doesn't know music, or has a restricted view of what it is. A lot of skill goes in to crafting songs that he creates, whether you personally like the outcome or not.

Not to mention that he's shown that he's a very dynamic producer too, he can fit into pretty much any genre and execute it well.

Well I hope he crafts some songs that fits better with GnR and not the, drop acid and bounce around, stuff that I've heard.

I am going to both Dallas and Houston. I was having trouble finding someone to go with to the Houston show . And then Skrillex was announced . Mind you , never heard of the person. My cousin called and is in because of him. He likes Guns, but now wants to go because of Skrillex. I had a friend try to convice me today if he can go because of Skrillex . We might not like or agree as forum members, but looks like the plan to fill more seats is going to work.

Are they paying you for the ticket?

You can't even compare. Apart from a period during the AfD years, Metallica have always done things on a different level to GNR. I used to want Guns to come back and surpass them, but now I know that is never going to happen. These bands are two different animals. You've just got to realise and accept that the dysfunction is part of GNR.

    Never say never.

I honestly think the main issue on this specific tour is they had to follow Metallica and they followed them by being extremely late.  It isn't that GnR wasn't good on this tour, because they were, but the deck was stacked against them especially if they thought they could dick around for a couple of hours and then come out and try to win people over after what metallica did, that just wasn't going to work.

Spot on! First time posting, but I've been lurking this site about a month now, and you know your shit. Another point to add to this. Most of the people that I knew that were Metallica fans didn't like GnR or more so Axl because of all of the stuff they had heard about him. I tell ya, with all the arguing I did with these guys, I earned my stripes as a GnR fan. Axl at times, but mainly the media bullshit never made it easy. Anyway, IMO this tour was a bad idea. The styles of the two bands are too different as are the taste of the fans. Once again, ALLOT of Metallica fans didn't give a rats ass about GnR. Much to my demise.
