    - Guns N' Roses ended in 1993

    - Guns N' Roses are no longer a band. They are a brand.

    - Rose (and sycophants) destroyed Guns N' Roses. He effectively destroyed his own band through being a complete arse.

    - Izzy was the heart and soul of Guns N' Roses

    - The skull artworks are embarrassing and make Guns look like a gormless heavy metal act.

    - the ''trilogy'' music videos are excruciatingly embarrassing

    - The NITLT is corporate crap.

    - The sole reason Chinese took so long was Rose, and fans blaming Ezrin, RTB and all these (very talented and respected) industry people is fan myopia.

     - 2001-2 were the only two interesting and exciting years of nugnr. Rose destroyed that band the same as he destroyed the old band.

I like the skull artwork for appetite its a fitting cover but it's literally merch people ever fucking wear

I liked the Don't Cry video

  3. Well

    1. UYI I > UYI II

    2. They should of only used Sorum as a session musician until Steven got his shit together, then used whichever drummer fit the song better for the albums

    3. Izzy's tone is better than Slash's on Appetite

    4. Anything Gn'R did after '91 (Live Era aside) didn't matter

    5. Anything G&R did after '02 (Chinese aside) didn't matter.

    6. Down on the Farm live at Farm Aid and Knockin' On Heaven's Door with Steven don't touch the studio or 90's versions

    7. Think About You worse than Anything Goes

    8. Live Era isn't that bad and Civil War should not have been on it the way some people think

    9. The '01 lineup should of been the only Guns and Roses lineup.

    10. Guns N' Roses was the 80's/90's band and Guns and Roses (G&R Rose and hired Guns) was the 2000's band which sounds completely different but was still about to play the original bands songs well.

    11. Axl using the band's name for Chinese was a good idea promotionally that way #1 it would be considered apart of an iconic catalogue and #2 had a new fan not known about the history of the members leaving and the wait it would of been just another album they needed to listen to where as many fans of the band probably still haven't bothered listened to Slash, Duff, Izzy or Steven's other work.

    12. Axl getting the rights to the name of the band and taking it in a different direction was a far better outcome than had Duff and Slash used it to make the boring and not nearly as great as previous Gn'R material Velvet Revolver released.

I think that about covers it

the fun fact is...if they would rerelease CD as triple album now, it would be the most interesting rock album in the last 10-15 years.

i wouldnt say i'm stucked in the past. i just compare GnR and other stuff to the top notch productions of the past. we will never ever get an epic music video trilogy by GnR and other bands again. f.ex.

Ask the Hip Hop fans what they are thinking about Hip Hop from 2007-2019. Except for Eminem, its a disaster. Good Rock and Hip Hop are dead.

Those people are also stuck in the past 😂😂 great example. Run the Jewels? Kendrick Lamar?

there are no hits on CD. I'm with Bob Ezrin. I would give CD another chance, if they would rerecord the whole thing with Izzy/Gilby and Matt/Adler + UYI production team/value. No fuckin Pitman or Melissa shit. Just the band, real orchestra, 2 background singers here and there.

There are ridiculous rumors that they rerecorded? Better and CD, which would be really weird, cause rerecording just a few songs is pointless.

    1. Civil War

    2. KOHD

    3. Don't Cry

    4. November Rain

    5. WTTJ

Shackler's Revenge is literally Mr. Brownstone but written by Buckethead and Robin Finck instead of Izzy and Slash. This I Love and There Was a Time are more oe less more raw versions of Estranged and November Rain. Sorry sounds like Planet Caravan by Black Sabbath just less psychedelic. If the World is just more experimental and less energetic Live and Let Die. So try again

  6. The classic lineup in '88 was excellent especially when the set list wasn't just the same old shit from Appetite.

'91 with Izzy was excellent especially with the setlist being as unpredictable as it was and them being able to do Dust N' Bones & 14 Years. This year being my goto when wanting live Gn'R material.

2001/2002 with Guns & Roses as it was intended.  Chinese not being released when it was just Buckethead, Robin Finck, Brain and the rest is almost as much of a missed opportunity as the Illusion albums without Adler.

fair enough, i find all appetite songs in top tier category including anything goes and think about you (prob my fav on the album and in general)

however, you're crazy on appetite is a real nose dive compared to all the other tracks, they should've just put something else instead like you could be mine

but back to LIES : what if they had added don't cry in there within the mix, imagine a bit of a slowed down version with adler on the drums DAMN - the UYI version ain't too good in my opinion but Don't Cry original 5 live is amazing such as the version played at the Marquee

Izzy Stradlin And The Ju Ju Hounds - Izzy Stradlin And The Ju Ju Hounds

    Izzy Stradlin - River

    Izzy Stradlin - Ride On

Izzy Stradlin - On Down The Road

Tommy Stinson - Village Gorilla Head

Tommy Stinson - One Man Mutiny

    Slash's Snakepit - It's Five O Clock Somewhere

    Slash - Slash

    Gilby Clarke - Pawnshop Guitars

    Velvet Revolver - Contraband

    Velvet Revolver - Libertad

I also dig Izzy's other albums, but the first 5 definitely win it for me.

I don't really like Duff's solo albums. I really liked the How To Be A Man EP though. Hope his next one will be more like that. Loaded is ok, but not anything special to me. A bit generic really. I did like the Neurotic Outsiders one!

Slash's other albums (with Myles) are ok. Getting more and more repetitive/generic with each album. Apocalyptic love was the one I enjoyed most. The last two were just meh. The other Snakepit album has good stuff on it too, but it's not very consistant.

Gilby Clarke has other ok albums, but Pawnshop is the only one that stands out for me.

Adler and Dizzy never did anything worthwhile out of GnR.

    Sorum's solo album is shit.

Never liked Buckethead. The guy should focus his output more on quality instead of quantity imo. He's gifted, but it's just a gigantic sea of whatever hel feels like recording today.

The only other Finck stuff I know is with NiN, and I never liked them.

I love Tommy's solo stuff, but I never liked The Replacements.

    Never liked Ron Thal solo.

Ashba never did anything that's good in or outside of GnR.

    Same goes for Pitman.

Brain is involved in a lot of projects I really don't care for.

    Am I forgetting anything?

The Ghosts of Mars Soundtrack has Robin and Buckethead all over it

There's really no other album like CD to me in the way that there isn't a perfect version of any of them, and the ultimate versions of each song would combine studio, leaked, 2002-2014 live, and Slash additions.

Chinese Democracy: Idk, I like both the album and 2002 versions, and Bucket did a different solo pretty much every show in 2002 that are all more interesting than others depending on the time I hear them. Ideally mostly the 2002 version with the album outro that picks up where Bucket stops in live performances. There's also a super simple fill in 2002 that I have no idea why it was taken out. IRS has a similar super basic like 3 note fill that pops in a few times in the earliest versions during verses.

Shackler's Revenge: Album version is fine as is, but I do like some of the melody changes in the chorus Axl did in live performances and would like a studio version of them. Wouldn't mind Ron's backing vocals on it either.

Better: NITL intro, the first half of Slash's solo, rest is album version, probably drop the electronic drum loops since they don't really fit with the NITL vibe

Street of Dreams: 2002 studio leak with the Axl/guitar harmony heading into the last chorus from 2002 live shows, Frank's drum roll near the end, studio solo in the outro

If The World: Album version is fine as is, a few additional screams in the live performances and the bit of Love Hangover couldn't hurt though.

TWAT: Short intro and the weird chords in the chorus from the last version to leak before the album release, a couple of fills from Slash, everything else stays from the album version

Catcher: I'd go with mostly the album version, but Brian May's first solo instead of Ron's, a handful of fills from Slash, and then Ron's outro solo up until May's comes back in the demo

    Scraped: Fine as is

    Riad: Fine as is

Sorry: I'd say just stick with the album version. Slash has a few random licks and fills, but definitely the album solo.

IRS: Intro from the 2006 version, verses album version, chorus a mix of 1999 and album versions

Madagascar: Album version with Slash's chunkier playing of the chorus, Robin's live backing vocals

This I Love: I'd love to hear the album version with the remix vocals, and one with Slash's take and Robin's solo.

Prostitute: A blend of the leak and album, but if I had to pick between the two I'd probably just take the album version

    Damn, you know your shit

Robin did not blend well with Bucket on the album Chinese Democracy and their sounds clashed and what you posted is completely different. So yeah I'm not comparing it to sides projects or songs which they did. The best songs had less things blended together from that era. Buckets parts were part of a different era and sound. They clashed with Fincks parts and new parts. Whereas BBF's did not clash because it was the CD release era. When you throw many stylistic approaches together, it is not good. That is probably the reason Catcher got re-recorded completely because of all the styles and era's probably made it sound like a complete train wreck.

But Buckethead and Robin were in during the same era

The combination Finck, Bumble, and Fortus. Bucket is great and Bumble is within a half step of him but slightly different player and some would call him superior as he is the master of the fretless. The combination of those three seemed to fit and they meshed very well. Finck clashed with Bucket. I think the down fall of the Chinese Democracy album was that it wasn't Slash and there was a lot clashing styles layered in. The re-recording of Better were better because they were stripped down, I prefer BBF's acoustic over Ashba's Emo.

If you think Buckethead and Robin clash then I reccomend you listen to the Ghosts of Mars soundtrack, they also worked together on that.

Thanks a lot.... but I think I have all what has been shared....and it's illegal (site rules I mean) to share unreleased songs.

(Studio demo is nice but still a demo....the finished product will be better I guess)

I thought we could PM anything (except maybe released albums)

No Shackler's? Also could you send me those links?

  14. With all the errands/lineups/leaks/changes that took place during the time period before Chinese what would be your personal choice to base the album around?

I'm a giant buckethead fan and I also like Robin Finck. I also enjoy Brain's drumming. So personally the 2001 lineup for Chinese would have been perfect. Instead the work of those players get infected with nonsense from the other 2/3 guitarist we didn't need.

Axl's transformation gets really creepy after 2006 :scared:

Duff's aging is also hard to watch, especially when he gets bloated.

Izzy and Slash have aged the best. Slash wins, though.

I think Steven or Duff did especially with their history
