Great post. I actually think Sorry and ITW are the strongest cuts on CD oddly enough (not counting the CITR demo).

That being said, both seem to have tragic flaws that stop them from greatness. The blaxploitation porn groove on ITW seems senseless. I think a legit Bond style song would have worked better instead of something that's neither here nor there.

Sorry is musically great but is saddled with some unfortunate lyrics that flirt with Get in the Ring territory. There's some strong verses mixed with some crap and it just brings the song down imho. Bucket is masterful on this one though (and ITW). I agree with you that it feels like a UYI 3 type of song. Very much so - which is why I was a bit surprised to see how much old school fans don't care for it. Definitely hear some Sabbath and Floyd in there. This song is (musically) what I wanted to hear more of in Chinese Democracy.

yeah some of the lines on Sorry are unfortunate for sure, mostly "I'll kick your ass..."

Bright spot being "it's harder to live with the truth about about you..."

  2. I think the verses on "Better" are absolutely brilliant.

The hardest part this troubled heart...

    This melody inside of me...

...and so on. The way it flows, IMO, is perfect. It's like those lyrics were meant to be.

I also dismissed CD in '08 (besides SOD) and gave it a second try in '14 and honestly, I was completely blown away. I tended to skip only Rhiad, but now I don't. For me CD, is a straight through listen.

If I hadn't already gotten my tickets, I would of asked how much you wanted for them, lol. I'm surprised they're doing Hartford considering most bands don't really don't really hit up the other New England states. You should try reselling on stubhub, it's usually what I go with whenever I hit up concerts/events.

Yeah I'm going to sell my Boston tickets. And yes Hartford does get skipped a lot by rock bands, but they get a lot of pop shows. Good for my wife, and bad for me lol.

I did see GNR in Hartford in '11 at our amphitheater. Sell out of 7,500. And by my recollection this will be Guns' 5th show in CT, ever. Maybe less.

  4. In short form, yes.

I'm just happy this is happening. I won't criticize the lineup, setlist or lack of new material. Maybe I did at first. Life is too short to complain online IMO. Hey if it helps you sleep a night! I'll just quietly skip past your post.

If you could get a message back to yourself 10-20 years ago and offer a semi-reunion tour with just Slash, Duff and Axl, but you don't get new material and the same set list for 2 years, would you say no?

    So? You go to both

for monetary purposes, i will not be doing that lol. besides i have already been to one stop of the tour already. one stadium and one arena is my limit. until maybe if we get some new tunes. for which i am not optimistic.

  6. I think both are feasible.

What I want is for them to announce a SOLID release date for the CD era material while at the same time announcing that they are working on new album consisting of the current lineup. I personally cannot fathom Izzy reuniting with the band at this point, although that would be outstanding.

PS - I also want a NITL tour Blu-Ray and  to hear an AXL/DC album. God I'm greedy!
