  1. People keep saying The Great Pretender sounds similar to Gary Moore's Parisienne Walkways? Unless I'm tripping absolute bollocks, it sounds absolutely nothing like that and very, very similar to Gary's Still Got The Blues. Absolutely fucking love the album, btw, couple of almost cringey moments in the vain of stereotypical cock rock in Read Between The Lines and another track or two but aside from those, there isn't a bad track on it, with the opening couple of tunes, Lost Inside The Girl, The One You Loved Is Gone, The Great Pretender and Boulevard Of Broken Hearts being the standout and personal favourite tunes for me. Absolutely sickened Slash isn't playing Ireland on his EU tour, but at least it appears we're getting Metallica for Slane next year!

  2. Personally, anything I've listened to hasn't sounded good to me. Not just Axl, who's voice, when he isn't in his lower register or screaming, sounds pretty weak and pathetic, imo. Also not a fan of SOYL as a song, I'd much prefer to have heard MTTC or Reckless Life. SMKC's Slither is also a far better attempt, and the one positive for me is that they're coming back soon😎

Really? I'd say Stone Cold Crazy, Tie Your Mother Down, More of that Jazz, Fight from the Inside, Sheer Heart Attack and Princes of the Universe are loosely the equivalent in terms of 'rockiness' as Guns N' Roses's default style. Queen were flippin' heavy. As I said earlier, Fight from the Inside is one of Slash's favourite riffs while Stone Cold Crazy and More of that Jazz are almost proto-thrash.

Traitor. All British blokes like listening to Queen and wearing women's dresses for a night on the town. It is what separates us from the uncouth Americans.

Tear It Up also! A terribly underrated Queen song imo.

It never fails to amaze me how members on here can pull statements out of their ass when:

    • Tom Zutaut
    • Classic Rock
    • Axl
    • Bumblefoot

    Have all confirmed it's existence.

In addition, insiders have mentioned that Slash and Duff were in the studio played on the track in early 2016. That last one could be taken with a grain of salt.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

I did not wreck myself, as until any single one of you or I on here have heard the song 'Atlas Shrugged', it does not exist.

I've seen this mindset in a few posts, I'm not sure why someone would even pretend this is a "Slash" show or that he is the main attraction.

The bottom line is that the attraction is Axl and Slash together.  Not Axl. not Slash, the 2 of them combined again.  If this wasn't the case, then the "attraction" (whichever one you think it is) would have been selling out stadiums.  Neither had been doing that.

I'm not pretending, it's the truth, and I never said it was a 'Slash show'. Slash is the star, he's the one blowing people's minds and out performing everyone else, and it's because he has been injected back into the Guns N'Roses band and brand (which Axl was already in) that they are playing stadiums.

Prior to Slash's return Guns he and Axl's 'Guns N'Roses' were playing similar size venues, particularly on their last tours in Europe. Axl still had the brand name, Slash didn't, yet they were playing similar sized venues, that says a lot.

I know Axl had the name and that was a huge benefit. In Belgium at least, they didn't play in the same venues though, but whatever.

I don't really get what you're saying. If you're saying the coming back of Slash made it possible to play huge venues, I agree with that. I always said they needed each other. Or do you think Slash can keep playing these huge venues with Myles and the Conspirators?

It sure was. That's fair enough, but they did in Ireland and England. That is what I'm saying, I don't think they necessarily need each other, I think Guns N' Roses needs Slash. I am saying SMKC can't play huge stadiums and only arenas as they haven't got the GNR name, and even though Axl had the name, they still played the same size venues, at least in Ireland and England anyway.

Axl has an enormous stage presence. When he comes on stage, he's the man, anyone can see that. He interacts with the audience, gives it his all, you can see his emotions.

Duff's interaction with the audience is great. Only saw him for the first time on NITL, and it surprised me. He's a real badass on stage, and he always reacts when the crowd is cheering at him, which is great.

Slash doesn't do that. Or very rarely. I think I've seen him do it a handful of times in the 3 shows I've been to and always it seemed to me that he was saying hi to people he knew, fans that follow him around wherever. But he's just the guitar god, one with his guitar, mesmerising the crowd that lies at his feet.

All three of them have a great stage presence, each in their own way. Every one of them has his own approach, as each has his own personality, of course. I think they look great together and they're so much more than the sum of the parts.

As for people hating Axl, of course most of us know he isn't the most popular guy out there. If this is justified or not, that's highly debatable, but whatever. And of course this is subjective. Please. But maybe you should realise that goes for everyone, not just for Axl. I read on here that James Brown has the most stage presence. Well, I've seen him live and he didn't do anything for me. I found him rather pathetic, bombastic and pompous. But so what? It's just my opinion. I'm sure his many fans think he has or had the greatest stage presence ever, and I can even see why, but like I said, it didn't do anything for me personally.

If you're looking for people's opinion outside of the 'GNR fandom bubble', @RONIN, maybe you should ask the question somewhere else than on a GNR fan forum? I don't know if you've been to a show recently, or will go in the future, but maybe you should ask around on a show. I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority will say Axl has great stage presence, also the casuals and even people who've been mocking Axl for years and came to the show out of curiosity.

Oh, and when I saw Slash in 2014, he played a venue with a capacity of 8,000 and it wasn't sold out. Axl needs Slash, but Slash sure as hell needs Axl too. I know neither one of them will starve without the other, but to reach this level of success, they need each other. I thought that would be clear by now to people who ever doubted that.

No. In response to your last paragraph, Slash didn't have the benefit of the band's name, the Guns N' Roses brand, Axl did, and they were still playing identical shows size wise, especially in Europe. Look what happens when the same old band name with the same old members (for the most part, we all know Duff and Melissa aren't who people are paying to see) has Slash injected into them? They go from playing the joint in LV to the fucking Metlife Stadium. Coincidence? I think not.
