I still cannot believe they would hype up a music video made with live shots & AI as something "FN' Special".

It's a music video. Probably a lame one at that.

Hopefully there is more to it than just that.

It is probably the social media team's phrasing. Though band should be a bit more conscious of how it looks and someone high up would have sign off.

In fairness, you wonder if band even realises how badly received the song was. Eg a Perhaps video this late on probably would have been more exciting but for The General.. not even the hardcores care.

(Caveat: I think the song is fine)

So, you're thinking that just because the band members were pulling some wild stunts in their 20s back in the '80s, all GNR fans are supposed to have this touch of kink and abuse, and being cool with harassment in their personality, huh?

I disagree with that notion. Pretty sure you don't see it as one-sided either. Even Axl has changed dramatically. Does CD contain any lines such as "turn around bitch I got a use for you"?

He still sings the songs live though, and gestures the lyrics. Plus .. Absurd?

I agree with your general sentiment though

  3. I def agree with some of the sentiment expressed here - it felt more like it was 'our' band. You knew it wasn't a popular thing, but we were in it together. There was still the hope of what was to come. Some great shows, Axl in great form at various points. Looking back at 2006 and that really was the second coming.

I wish I was a bit older to have gone to 2006 shows or some of the smaller venues they played.

  4. Axl does have a good memory but the way he has gone deep on learning Knock Knock jokes and sharing them with Duff over text message since they became friends again has probably pushed other stuff out of his mind.

It's one thing having a good memory but when you know as many jokes as Axl does then you wonder what stuff he no longer remembers.

I thought he sounded shockingly good given the current realities of his vocal ability and that it's a first live performance.

The chorus and Slash's solo are the best parts and they translated quite well live

I really don't think we can say that objectively. And being the first isn't an excuse - he's a professional singer, he's supposed to rehearse for these moments which he admitted he hasn't.

It isn't as much of a disaster as Hard School is live and probably marginally better than Perhaps but it's really below par.

Do really like both of the new songs though - just a shame how he can't perform vocally.

Yep.. Like they played Anything goes earlier in the night, swap that with Madagascar and the encore would start off with a bang. Or maybe madagascar just isn't needed at all, but thats subjective.

They don't have that many hits too when you think about it. Grand for us fans but in a big stadium over three hours.. probably not enough stadium bangers

I have passed on seeing GN'R since 2017 as it just felt redundant after a while but had to go see them at the Bowl as it's one of the most iconic venues in the world and happens to be 25 miles form my house.

I got a ticket right up front the night before the show for a "decent" price finally. Overall, I had a blast. Locomotive is my all time favorite song so I was beyond thrilled to see that live. Bad Obsession and Pretty tied up were super cool as well and I haven't seen SOD/The Blues since 2006 I think, so that was really fun.

My only complaint would be how bloated and slow the last third of the show was. If you take out Nightrain, it was all slow/mid-tempo songs from I think Civil War or SCOM to before Paradise City. NR, Patience, Madagascar, etc...It really brought the level and energy of the show down, at least for me. For me, if they are going to play slower songs, I want to see Don't Cry, Sorry, etc.

All in all, it was awesome and I'm super glad I went, as I debated it all the way up until the night before the show.

Yeah thought that from seeing them this year. It's a very long slow and the pacing needs a bit of work

I can't believe people are still questioning if its slash. christ, lets move on. It is slash. Anyone asking if it is or claiming it isn't is obviously a troll so should be ignored going forward. 5 days same shit.

Yep. Think it's wishful thinking from people who don't like the songs. Only thing we are waiting on is how the two are or aren't linked together when officially released and a higher quality version (which I think will also improve the songs).

They're very clearly rips from a bad vinyl pressing

  9. Have lived with the tunes all weekend and really like them both. Monsters def the most accessible of the two. Do wish Axl had done Monsters-bridge style vocal on the General chorus, think that would really elevate it.

There are also some cool vocal overdubs in, I think, the left channel on Monsters - be cool to hear those in better quality.

Overall think they're the best the band has released since the reunion.

Yeah, we got there in the end.

If they want to package them up on a CD I'll give them the money. If they can't work out how to do that, or refuse, their loss now.

I bet management are fucking fuming right now!

Yeah they will be. You'd have more sympathy if they'd made an effort to communicate the delay yesterday. They will never learn.
