A singer that can sing isn't too much to ask for.

Lol, Axl sounds absolutely dire. Would never show any of my friends that, they'd be pissing themselves laughing.

It pains me to say it but Axl is the weakest link on both Absurd and Hard Skool.
Everyone I’ve sent HS has talked about how weak the verse vocals are. Strange given he’s perceived as the so-called perfectionist vs the more “rough and ready” Slash.

Only so much they can do though when Axl can't be arsed to record new vocals. Everything is going to be on a grid so it's pretty challenging to get it sounding natural.
Is right. Feel like this is as good as we’ll get.
Having said that I do like it - looking forward to hearing it in proper quality when it’s out in the UK. It makes some difference hearing Duff’s bass and Slash’s guitar.

Like it but would really have benefitted from being cut more “live”. Has a copy/paste feel about it.
Though maybe that’s just because I’ve heard the demo etc.

Can someone get it onto YouTube for us in the UK? 👀

I don’t have my laptop at the moment but has anyone tried seeing what the destination link on, for eg, Apple Music is on the link tree?
Wondering if it brings up a /hardskool if you try and copy the button’s link address?

Song needs a lot of work to be good, but it has some bones. Needs new lyrics (pussy full of maggots, what the fuck?), additional lyrics, a longer and more interesting bridge, and the original chorus back.
Of course, it has none of that
True. I’m in the UK here so it’s 4.50am. Will listen then go back to sleep.. and wait for the texts from my friends asking what on earth is going on 😂

Slim chance but maybe part of an EP or more than one song at midnight? Ie Hard School?
Clearly Absurd isn’t the song they should be putting out as a first release since the reunion but I have a feeling a studio version with those heavy guitars could be decent.
-
I think it’s also interesting how he reiterates that it’s not part of NITL. Almost feels like he’s alluding to new music without saying it directly.
Maybe wishful thinking!

Reminds me of something from U2’s Pop album.

Atlas Shrugged lyrics (as close as I can get them so far)
Oh, why should I try and judge the things they say that just won't budge I let it go
Oh, and you say you don't mind so you manage to be to kind but still enough to show me how to keep it together
When I try and name no matter who's to blame there's still a ways to go
So if you ask me to believe your heart won't go alone it's got a mind of its own
Well it sits wrong and the road is long and you're the one whose shoulders just ain't wide enough
Whose shoulders shrug when they've had enough, oh
I'd be the last to say don't follow your heart ***

Can you give us a clue as to what we can expect over the weekend? And thank you!

My source could have even been wrong, but personally I consider them to be pretty in the know
Jeez if true it's a very grandiose sounding song for such a subject. Maybe Axl took it very badly!
Some of the lyrics I've tried my best at decoding..
So if you ask me to believe your heart won't go alone it's got a mind of its own
Well it sits wrong and the road is long and you're the one whose shoulders just ain't wide enough
Whose shoulders shrug when they've had enough

Just love Axl's vocals in that clip of Hard School. The "lend you my hand" bit is vintage.
Atlas is just too hard to decipher at this point but does sound very Chinese era. Will reserve judgement. It could well end up being the more interesting of the two songs when we heard full versions.

Lyrics:
To extend myself, and lend you my hand
But you had to play it cool, had to do it your way
Had to be a fool, had to throw it all away to hard school,
And you thought you were here to stay,
If that were true, it wouldn’t matter anyway,
As tempers fade, and lies forgiven..

just heard the new 22 second Hard School mix.
short piece of screaming vocals like the General.
uncle Ax sings lead and backing vocals again like in Madagascar, sounds cool but cant be done live
all round a badass tune. cant wait to hear it in full.
Sounds amazing. Looking forward to hearing this.
Exciting times we’re in!

Hard to believe it's been so long since anything substantial leaked. Starved of 'new' Axl vocals. Be it leaks or official new music since the reunion, I'd gobble up anything.
-
There’s clearly been a mistake made somewhere along the way. It’s a bizarre answer and totally at odds with everything he has been saying. And even at odds within the context of the rest of the answer.
I wouldn’t worry about it.

Another new Slash interview with some details on new album
He says band will tour in late September/October and that they will "start focusing on that in earnest".
He also says: “I wouldn’t say we’ve really sat down and had those sessions yet.” when asked if they had started writing together.

I think it's the quality of the cameras that can't pick up all the ranges and tones within Axl's voice, the human ear can do this better which is why Axl always sounds like the 80s during live gigs.
We're waiting on technology to catch up with Axl's vocals.
