All this time and Axl casually drops it as. B-Side. Does it get any more GnR than that?!
It’s wonderful to see music being released though and even a video too! Keep it coming Axl!

Are the Axl backing vocals newly recorded? Sounds a bit different than the Village demo?
I think the backing vocals are marginally different (possibly different lyrics).
The good news is that a studio version must be imminent given the backing track is ready for live performances.
Really like most of the song- very Use Your Illusion feel with the piano and the bluesy guitar. Could possibly reach a greater or longer crescendo though to elevate it but that said, nothing wrong with a 4-5 minute bluesy rocker!
7 years of reunion touring needs a new batch of songs releasing to freshen things up, it’s long been needed.
Anyone confirm what the studio visit in Norway was all about?

I thought Sir Elton John delivered one of the all time great Glastonbury sets tonight.
Absolutely staggering performance from the Rocket Man!

Grateful to have had that opportunity to see GnR live on the biggest festival stage in 4K quality - regardless of whether it was perfect or not.
Band sounded great and Axl dug into whatever vocal reserves he had there- absolutely tried his arse off out there.
If I were them that would be a perfect high to take time away from the stage and heal that voice of his- it seems so desperately needed.
Great effort from the band and that’s Glasto ticked off!

To give him his due, he’s really tried to dig out the screams on YCBM there, like he’s really reached for them.
-
Axl taking the piss before Absurd- can’t believe they’ve played this at Glasto 😂
-
Sound is perfect on low register so it seems to me they deliberately muddy his high parts at the bands request perhaps? In a way it’s helping this seem like a respectable TV performance so I’m pleased!
Loving Axls energy, he’s ringing every ounce he can out of himself tonight, fair fucking play!

Anyone watching iPlayer in UK in 4K UHD?
BBC have done a phenomenal job with sound and picture here. Stunning.
Axl struggling slightly in the higher parts like WTTJ but not unexpected

Come on Axl fucking nail Slither now and shut the naysayers like me- this has been a middle finger FUCK YOU start- love it!

Crowd don’t know Bad Obsession but fair play Axl sounds epic in low register in this two openers.
Christ now into Chinese Democracy!

This could genuinely have gone down as one of the legendary GnR sets this weekend.
3 generations of rock icons in AM, GnR and Sir Elton. Just perfect.
Everything is set up, except the one thing we need more than anything- a healthy Axl Rose vocal.
I re-watched some Axl DC earlier and that is genuinely some of the greatest rock live vocals in history. Astonishing level of performance.
Unfortunately, Glasto has come at a time when Axl is back to his 2002 helium vocals.
Why oh why does this band time everything so poorly? 2006 would have been incredible, 2010 was solid too, as was 2016. So many golden opportunities to shine.
The 2023 shit however? Not even the biggest GnR and Axl fan here can pass this off as anything other than woeful.
Im crossing fingers that Axl has kept some power up his sleeve for tomorrow- cheering on from a distance hoping somehow there’s some magic he can reach into.
Unfortunately, I think they’ll get absolutely panned for what I’ve seen so far this year, and that’s just absolutely gutting.

This is just pathetic at this point that a year in quarantine and no tours led to absolutely zero new material being written. If they just have Slash and Duff on top of old Axl vocals and Brain drums, then why the hell couldn't they have released these five years ago?
To call this a band is now an inaccuracy.
Just bizarre to have not sat together and tried to lay down some tunes and just have some fun!
Wasted potential but that’s GNR since 1991.

He was incredible in 2006- looked sharp, was energetic on stage, and sounded badass.
Something was just stronger and looked more comfortable about him that year than the 2001-2002 era.

Not bad at all. Much improved from the first performance.
That was actually a major step up- Axl seemed to be in far greater control of his pitch, practice is paying off.

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s Frank. And they also quantized the drums in pro tools. It honestly sounds kinda shitty. The Village sessions leak of the song has a way better drum performance and they’re insane for not using it. I really liked the fills before each chorus. The new drum track sucks.
I agree - there’s so much to love about the song, but the drums are not one of them.
ive said it before and will say it again- when you watch the Foo Fighters drummer smash his way through Its So Easy when they did that collaboration in Italy a couple years ago- you see just how much a difference it makes to the energy of GNR.
no issues with just dropping down a peg live to support Axl and vocals, as that makes sense, but on the studio version you should have some real energy on the drums.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I listened to this version for the second time. You mean the second, more melodic part of the solo, right? They've been sharing solos on Absurd, so maybe they've done the same here? That second part of the solo just isn't really the style that I would know from Slash. I guess we'll get an answer as soon as they perform the song live...
Yep exactly that - and I hope it is because let’s be real here - he deserves to be part of the writing and recording process now- he’s a super tight guitar player and versatile with style.
-
Sounds like Frank to me - got his sort of tempo to it the way they’ve been playing together live.
I also think Richard does a bit of playing on one of the “BH-esque” solo parts- it reminded me a bit of how he sounds on Nightrain live.

Just amazing to have GnR dropping new music with Axl Slash and Duff.
awesome to see and for once some sharp graphics on Spotify that should help this catch on!
-
It kinda annoys me that there are two covers still in the modern GnR set (KOHD & LALD)- great though they are, they belong on Spaghetti Incident.
Thats why GnR for me still owe a belting original record to the world to truly belong in legendary status.
It would be truly special to see Axl, Slash and Duff (of course if poss Izzy and Steve/Matt) do an original material album- here’s hoping we aren’t far away.
-
Axl on Paradise City is pretty awful these days isn’t it. Just completely breathless and zero rasp or control.
Good to see Dave Grohl with them- hopefully they do the same and guest spot with Foo Fighters. It’s So Easy in Italy with Taylor drumming is one of the most electric versions of that song ever played live.- 1

Does Evaders mix or the low quality audio original still exist? Never had chance to hear it
-
The leaks were interesting and so diverse- why Axl hasn’t ever released these things is beyond me- he’s a talented guy and his vocals are like an extra bit of magic dust because of how unique they are.
The only ones I never heard were Soul Monster and The General, although apparantly the latter wasn’t great quality?
-
Good to see the band having fun and playing looser.
Can I ask those of you who are more musically/sonically educated than me- since the 2010s has Axl been using some sort of effect on vocals live? I find it hard to explain - but it’s almost like some weird echo effect that seems to accentuate his screams. I’ve often wondered if the NITL Selects have sounded so poor because they are just pure soundboard and without the effect that you get live?
I don’t ever remember it pre 2010s- 2006 he was incredible, and with AC DC too.
Does anyone know what I mean?
-
Whatever the take on Absurd- and it really is a divisive, edgy track- the fact that these guys have actually knocked out some material in a studio/studio(s) is a major thing and SURELY this is not the only thing worked on given Hard Skool has been rehearsed for shows.
Hope they be bold and drop an album without giving a shit about the reaction- that’s the best thing they could do, they don’t need sales and number ones any more

So where the songs are only available in one file/clip- which song is first? The General followed by Monsters, or the other way around?
