Unless money is no object, seeing most "artists" isn't worth it for me. Ever since the record labels collapsed, they've decided that ticket prices should cost more than the airfare to get to them, and I just refuse. I see no value in spending fifteen-hundred dollars to go see bands that are so far past their prime, that they look like a (bad) cover band of themselves on a good day. If I wanted that, I'd got to a local bar and watch a (good) cover band for free.

Also, what fun is it when you're surrounded by rich old people (or just old people in general)? I naively went to GNR in '16 (bucket-list thing), with images of 1992 in my mind. Instead, all I got was a sea of gray-haired old people, standing around, barely moving, sipping over-priced beer and singing off-key karaoke all night. It was like a Dangerfield bit. I was thinking, Man... if it gets any livelier around here, a funeral is gonna break out!

Your RD line just flashed me back to a night out at his club in nyc in the 90s: my girl and were sat at the front table as we walked in late.. he took one look at us (and her massive boobs) and said “well well WELL” and literally did not stop roasting us the rest of the evening. Great memory and I thank you for triggering it!!

And I agree with your GNR assessment..

  2. I needed to do an hour of cardio yesterday at the gym and I threw on Appetite - 58mins and 565 calories later I was a happy gal. I can’t remember the last time I put it on intentionally though, prob at the start of the pandemic for a bit of comforting nostalgia.. perfect hour of cardio though. I was so adrenalined up!

I’m general I rarely listen to gnr tracks, I’ll throw an album on to get the fix if I need one! AFD, Lies and UYIs are perfect for me and I dig TSI as it introduced me to a different genre, but truthfully I just couldn’t get into CD. If I listen to a stand alone gnr track, it would be off this. Most likely Sorry..

When does the massive price drop happen?  That's what I'm holding out for.  I feel like I've seen notable price drops weeks before the shows depending on how they're selling.  Are these drops heavier than that?

It’s prob going to depend on what the overall seating chart looks like at each specific venue. Say 800 of 1000 seats in sections X/Y/Z are unsold a few weeks before a show at $450 a piece. You can’t have that many empty seats in sections next to one another, it looks stupid. So they will lower those seats first.

They will also, without a doubt as this is SOP with tours, open seats after load in happens and they see where the site lines are on the sections closest to the stage.. ESPECIALLY with stadium tours!

Good luck, I won’t be lookin at all until a day or 2 before whatever show I think about going to, and for THIS tour I have myself a HARD $50 limit.

Seriously, who the FUCK buys this shit?

By the looks of it…… not many people. VIP sales for LN shows/Tours close out 30-45 days before the show, and any unsold VIP inventory gets dumped to regular sales ..

or Platinum first to try to get extra $$, And if/when that doesn’t sell 3-4 days out it goes to regular… they then do a massive price drop (below face) just to get people in so they then spend $$ on toy trucks and tshirt!

I personally don't think his rasp voice , or range will ever come back . And that's okay. A lot of people sing their lungs out , and don't even get pay attention to his struggling voice . I am glad I got to see his magical voice in 06/07, and in 2016. I've said before in other threads . GNR and Axl will always be my favorite, but for me personally, the time has come ,not bother seeing them live . If you used to see Michael Jordan in his Championship run, would you really want to see him in the Wizards? Maybe, just once . But I would hate that image of a slower older Jordan taking over my memory of a great run . That's how I think of Axl right now .

So I’ve seen Jordan play in his 1.0 and 2.0 Championship runs as well as his seasons with the Wizards…. Even in his twilight years, Jordan was still Jordan-esque… 40+ point nights, triple doubles… make winning shots at the buzzer? All there. Not half assed if phoned in either, but THERE..

I see the point you’re trying to make, but I think MJ is the opposite of what Axl has become… hopefully (and I really mean that) Axl gets a vocal coach who can help him. IMO Jordan ALSO understood when it was time to hang it up once his productivity dropped… just my 2 cents, and observations!

  6. Out of sheer curiosity I took a look at every GNR show that’s currently up on Ticketmaster for availability and I gotta say… some of those American Stadium dates.. wow, LN will probably take a bath on this tour….

Sooooooooo many tickets that are available. I’ve worked in live music for decades and my guess is that the band has a tour deal (vs a per show deal) - they get paid NO MATTER WHAT and it’s on the Promoter (ie Live Nation) to market and sell the actual tickets.

Anyway I expect prices to DRASTICALLY drop later this spring and DEFINITELY closer to early summer and there will be a fire sale for 90% of the shows 36hrs in advance just to get people in for ancillary spending. Just with a glance, this onsale averaged like 15-20% sold in most markets. And they are releasing rows in a checkerboard pattern already (in order to make it seem full-ish and well sold).

That Hard Rock show in Fl is the only decently sold one.. SPAC looks ok (this will be the one I attend if I choose to go!). Those are MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller venues.. even the rescheduled summer tour in 2021.. all of those could have easily been arena gigs!

Doesn’t look like many people are parting with cash for vip in most markets either, TONS of packages still available. Europe looks ok from the few shows that are up on TM but again, SO SO SO many tickets available!

Band gets paid no matter what… but I’m sure Live Nation is not happy with this onsale! I’m so sad for gnrs state! There was soooooo much buzz and hope when rumors started in 2015! But I hope that everyone who goes has a blast!

Shoot To Thrill Madison Square Garden. I've shown that video to so many doubters and all were beyond impressed.

That MSG show was insane! My friends and I got lucky, late ticket releases that weren’t meant to be out - it was *technically the first row that had a “few” angles with no sight lines but we basically had the best seats in the house. I have attended at least 7 or 8 of the NITL shows, but he sounded best with Angus.

Yes I find it very weird that people do that at a funeral of all places where he is clearly upset at losing a friend.  Not respectful at all, and Axl did well to tolerate it.   I really don't get it.

Ohhh long time lurker and first time poster: I was at a funeral for a really good friend a few years ago who was a heavy hitter in the music business. A bunch of rock stars showed up - I still refuse to speak to the dumbasses who harassed these mourners (who were there for their friend) and asked for pics and autographs. It was the most cringe thing I had ever seen…

side note: I think Axl sounded and looked good, and I’m hoping he’s (outside of mourning) happy!
