  1. As someone who spent a large amount of his late teens and early 20s waiting on Chinese Democracy and getting hyped up after every new leak and development (on this very forum, no less), I've honestly given up on this band as an "active" entity aside from tours. If another album comes, great, but I don't expect any new studio recordings until Axl's death, and even then I'm not sure.

  2. I don't really post anymore, but still lurk around. This thread has brought up so many good memories for me. I was right out of high school at the time and knee deep in excitement for CD. The 2006 concerts were my proof to all of my naysayer friends that NuGN'R was a force to be reckoned with. The stream of leaks and constant buzz about the album being around the corner made for some truly exciting times on this board.

A shame it turned out the way it did, but I'll never forget seeing them at Inland Invasion in 2006. One of the greatest nights of my life. (Once the rioting stopped and the show got started.)

Regardless of the current state of the band, I'm happy that I had a great year of live shows to watch in '06 and a great album in '08.

  3. Its true, this is the rule. Also if you are driving a fair distance to see a band you shouldn't have that band on the stereo all the way. Its just not the way to do things.

    Always heard this as well.

Huh, see I got this one backward. If it's a long trip I'll try to get through the whole catalog by the time I get to the venue!

  4. I hope this dreadful performance doesn't put anyone off buying a ticket for the upcoming North American tour. Axl's voice will be awesome by the time he gets here. He was absolutely killer when I saw him in Montreal last year. Let us never speak of this RIR performance again.

What puts me off from buying a ticket is that he cancelled both of the shows I was scheduled to attend in the '06 tour the day before they were set to occur.

  5. No chance. But at 01 we had new songs

You didn't have new songs, nor estranged at rock in rio 06. Everyone seems to forget that rio existed.

they're referring to rock in rio 2001.

rio 2006 was notoriously ill-received here, but a lot of that was blamed on the poor sound mix.

I don't recall being disappointed or excited by Rio 06. Was just kind of... there. I do remember being pissed that the stream I was watching kept cutting out all of the Chinese Democracy songs.

  6. One more for the road. Joined back in high school, anticipating any nugget of news about Axl, CD, the new band. This site was my home page since I found it and until CD was finally released. With this place gone I'll probably drop out of the loop altogether, having no idea if and when any significant gnr news is happening. I refuse to go to htgth, and I don't think any of the smaller forums can fill the gap, unless there's a consensus on which one to join by the majority of posters here. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

It's been a good ride, mygnrforum.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

  7. I think the OPs curiosity about Brownstone stems from the fact that the timing of the lyrics seems to perfectly sync up with Axl saying "fuckin time". I've always felt like it sounds edited out, but like others have pointed out, that doesn't really make sense when the song has plenty of other f-bombs littered throughout. I usually find myself filling in the "fuckin" in my head when listening to Appetite nowadays.

  8. Well Dill ruined that show so I hope it's not congruent with the band's situation. :-P

All a matter of opinion, but Dill did not ruin the show. -_-

    Yes he did.

This thread is now about Rugrats.

    Reptar.jpg

Vastly more interesting than this band's shenanigans nowadays.
