  1. Chris Slade has said they were going to get either someone from an AC/DC tribute band or just a random singer that no one has heard of. Personally I would have loved to see Jimmy Barnes take the role if Axl didn't. So from that perspective, I'm glad they picked Axl. It got him back in the spotlight just as much as the reunion did.

With GNR, hes been in cruise control for over nearly two decades with endless touring and singing mostly the same songs. AC/DC is a much tighter ship. They don't do late starts or have constant sound issues, everything runs smoothly. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity to fill in as the frontman of one of the biggest bands of all time so of course hes going to give it all and then some.

  2. Chinese to me was an ideal first single. Chinese Democracy was basically a myth that people didn't expect to be released or had forgotten about so how do you remind people that its real and coming out? Have your first song be the title track.

I remember on a local rock station, two of the DJs had to each pick a song correlating with a chosen theme. The theme that day was 'botched returns'. One of them chose Chinese Democracy. Both hosts didn't necessarily run the song / album down but weren't overly positive about it. After the song ended, they had done a 180 and were both saying how great of a return song it was.

  3. It confuses me how they don't operate like a normal band. They don't release albums then go on tour. Instead they just go on these endless tours then radio silence until they tour again. Most of the time we only hear music via leaks. Other bands may have their album leak in the days leading up to its release but with Gunners, we'll get a song on a random Wednesday out of nowhere. You don't see Iron Maiden songs from the Brave New World era being found in someone's locker and then being leaked online twenty years later. Its almost laughable how exclusive to GNR this is. If they do release music, you wouldn't know. Perhaps has one mention on their Instagram page and thats it. Look at the Rolling Stones. You'd almost have to go to the far ends of the earth to find someone that doesn't know about Hackney Diamonds.

I do wonder how they'd turn out if they had an actual management team and not the leeches they currently have.

Enough  I’m well into three-digit numbers, but I’ve also slowed down a lot since COVID. Last year I only did my local show, this year I did six (But only four cities). A far cry from when I was doing 20-25 a year.

Does it get repetitive? Understandable if its Metallica, Springsteen or Pearl Jam that change their setlist each show. Maiden stick to the same setlist for the whole tour though. I saw GNR three times during the second Vegas residency and on night three I ended up walking out early because I already knew what was coming up next.

Their merch quality has dropped dramatically since the reunion kicked off. You know it's bad when bootlegs look better than official merch, lol.

When I saw them during the 2014 Vegas residency, they had a ton of unique shirts for sale. Pretty sure I bought around five of them. When they played here in December last year, they had the event shirt and a couple with the AFD logo similar to what you could get at any Hot Topic store. The guy selling bootlegs outside the stadium legit had better shirts.

  6. I'll say it.

DJ Ashba was a great addition to the band. He had that rockstar look that was sorely missing. When I think of Guns N Roses, I don't think of Tommy's check suits, Robin's emo look (or whatever he was), Ron's all red suit or his stupid mascara looking tears, or especially a bucket on one's head. Even if people didn't like the Hogan ears, he engaged with the crowd which no one else besides Axl really seemed to do.
