  1. Me and my girlfriend watched the whole season in two days and we both loved it.  A great series with some very heavy Stephen King influence that reminds you of the classics with modern day effects. My one and only complaint was that it could have used a little more blood and gore but great storytelling none the less.

If this thread has been made before, I apologize.

But holy shit, I am blown away by how Axl has changed. I was re-watching some NuGNR shows, because I thought it was weird that that time period even existed of GNR. Compared to Axl now, the Axl of those years was really a dochuebag and seemed very tense. Not only that, his vocals were at times very weak, it looked like he had stopped trying in his later years, put on a lot of weight, covered himself up with jackets and sunglasses and those hats, was very openly a verbal jerk to his ex-bandmates and other bands, seemed to hate fans, did little interviews, did nothing but strictly GN'R and seemed quite honestly, miserable.

Come 2016, I've never seen this man so happy and in love with life. You can tell he has passion again. You can tell he's having a blast this tour and playing songs. He's been very happy with fans. Has done interviews. He even tweets more. Axl looks amazing for his age, yes he's still a little chunky around the stomach but he is very muscular and for his age he looks fantastic. Most importantly he stopped hiding behinds hats and leather jackets. Even if his voice is off on some songs, he is giving 110% every show and sounds fantastic on a majority of them, reminding us all of the Axl Rose of the 90's. He even broke out of his comfort zone and toured with ACDC! Hell, he even let Steven Adler play with GN'R. He looks and sounds happy and I've never been more happy for the guy.

So what do you guys think the reason for this is? Has Axl gotten his fire back because Slash and Duff are back in his life? Has he found internal peace? I think it's because Duff has helped Axl to fight his internal demons with how he learned to deal with them. We can sit here and drool over Slash and Axl all day, but Duff is really in my opinion to thank for Axl's transformation and happiness, and of course, the reunion. He is the underspoken hero of this whole deal.

Great post. I think it's a combination of being back with Duff and Slash as well as living a childhood dreams and singing for the band he grew up idolizing.

Man an what a great year it's been so far!

Is he even sober? He got himself thrown out of GNR and proceeded to spend 25 years showing everyone why. If playing a couple of songs here and there will get him of the ledge, fine, but having him actually tour would have been a terrible idea for a number of reasons.

It's a tough pill to swallow but that's very true- years ago when I posted regularly on the forums I made the same argument whenever it would come up because I really believe the man would be dead had a  full scale reunion happened and he went back on tour with GNR.

Yep that would do it. Lol

    Good find.

As for people who claim Axl just brought in Slash and Duff to "replace" band members who had left - and that Slash and Duff wouldn't feel comfy suggesting Axl toss aside the remaining "replacements" - that's ridiculous.

Slash and Duff aren't just "replacements" or Axl's "hired hands." These are the guys who created the music that made GNR the biggest band on the planet. This whole tour - which is being booked in stadiums - is being billed as a "reunion" tour. That's right - a REUNION tour where people will see the real GNR reunite for the first time in 23 years.

So, I just think that if you're going to promote this as a true reunion - then I don't think it should be done halfway or - excuse the expression - half-assed. Go all the way. All the original members are (miraculously) still alive and ALL wanted to be part of this reunion. There's just no excuse for them not to be there.  If you want to add a few of the replacement members to play on some CD songs, fine. But only AFTER the original lineup is in place.

Most diehard fans - who have followed the band from day one - would tell you their wet dream is to see a REAL reunion with the original lineup - possibly with Matt and Steven alternating on drums the way they did at the Rock Hall of Fame.  Frank? No thanks.

I'm hoping last night's show was just a warm-up - and that we will see Izzy, Stevie and perhaps Matt during the tour.

Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled - ecstatic - to see Axl, Slash and Duff sharing a stage again. It gave me chills just watching those short clips.  But ultimately, I hope it's a  full reunion by the time the band pulls into New York this summer.

It would be nice to see Steven and Izzy back on stage but I think I disagree on calling the reunion half assed.  I'm fine with considering the position of drummer and rythym guitar interchangeable since both were replaced successfully at the height of GNR career and fame, with Axl, Slash and Duff pushing forward and keeping it together for a bunch of massive tours and epic shows and writing much of the bands most important history.

Then when you consider the reasons why Izzy and Duff departed in the first place:  Izzy never having wanted the fortune and fame in the first place and Adler not being able to manage it - it may be best in the long run to keep it that way.   This is arguably the biggest and most significant even in rock of the past several decades and there will surely be a lot of fortune, fame and the itty gritty bits that come along with it.

Ive always had mixed feelings about Matt and would be impartial if he joined up or not, same goes for Gilby. In fact I like Richard more than Gilby since he reminds me of Izzy in both presence and sound so if I can't have Mr Straddlin' himself, I say 4tus 4 the win.

Dont get get me wrong, to have the complete AFD lineup on stage together would be great, but to do a full scale tour including one man who doesn't really want to be there and another who may be in real danger of death by substance just doesn't seem like the best idea.

So, I guess I might need to add a little backstory here...(and this is what it takes to pull me away from a multiyear hiatus from Forums...)

In December I purchased a lot of promo VHS tapes, there were like six or eight others in the lot, but I bought it exclusively for this Ritz one, thinking it was a Geffen promo of the '88 show. About two weeks ago I finally had the time to hook up the VCR and watch the tape. Imagine my surprise when it starts with a clip of Jungle, immediately I thought "Hmm, not the Ritz '88, maybe it's Felt Forum" so I youtubed that show and it wasn't. So by this point Michelle comes on and I'm like hmm, this is similar to some '87 sets. So I'm truckin' away though GNRONTOUR and by then Don't Cry is playing on my TV and immediately I knew what show I had. Checked the setlist, watched the rest of the tape and sure as shit. So I ordered up some Video 2 PC thing by Ion, and set to rip it.

Anyways - I'm using this as leverage to get something else for us to watch or hear or whatever. I have received a couple messages from people inquiring but I haven't had the time to follow through yet to test the waters. I decided to make a montage of clips of the show for two reasons - 1. To give y'all something to watch and 2. Proof. Year in and year out there's always someone coming out of the woodwork and claiming to have this video show or that video show or this unreleased song but no one ever has solid proof. Maybe this can drudge out the VMA Rehearsals, maybe this can drudge out something else long forgotten on a promo VHS sitting on eBay waiting to be discovered, who knows. All I know is I have the fans best interest with this, because I want you all to see this as much as I want you all to see whatever else is out there.

Also, I'd like to say that it's great to see this thread here, because it was like a walk down memory lane last night seeing postings from Crazyman, GNR 1991, Bond (whom I recall but can't place, sorry man!) and some other posters during my "glory years" here about a decade ago. Also nice to have some of the positive support of some key players on this board on my side, then again - it stems from years ago when I was what I guess could be considered a "major player" ad knowledgeable source in the Bootleg scene.

Crazyman - I totally forgot about that whole Donington Micpad thing! Great times, Timebomb was so pissed off! But man, you're right, there is may elitist bastards in that scene and was one of numerous things that caused me to part ways with that...crowd. Don't get me wrong, there is a handful who did wonders but there's still an elitist bunch.

Anyways, nice hanging with y'all this morning - I'm sure I'll see some of you over the course of the next month or so. To all those who've said a positive word about me in this thread - thank you. Some of you I haven't seen a post from, or talked to in years, so it definitely was surprising to read that so many of y'all remembered some of the things I did for the Bootleg circles years ago.

Dude,  I hadn't realized you were the man behind this until I read this post.  I remember publicly arguing with Madison on the forums years ago when she banned you, saying that it was an idiotic move banning such a key member in the bootleg scene and a wealth of GNR information, almost getting myself banned at the same time for posting messages from you to the forum, hahahaha.   Man oh man how the time flies by.  Here we are now a decade later on the edge of a near reunion gig and you've got what could very well be considered the Holy grail of early GNR tapes. I guess if she was still around I could finally say "told ya so!!!"

    Welcome back!!

  6. I'm wondering if the story leaked earlier than we got it, to industry people, that Slash and Axl were talking again, which prompted promoters to move in with offers on the off chance.

It seems as though the more traction the story gets, the more we hear about promoters from around the world putting offers in. It might simply be a case of festivals throwing their hats in the ring just in case a miracle does happen.

The hope I hold is that, no one has categorically shot this down yet from any camp, so maybe they are waiting for a full set of offers to come in, before deciding if its the right move personally and financially.

One thing is for sure, there are bound to me twists, turns, on's and off's to this story. The festival circuit tends to force the hand of a band to make announcements when it comes to touring plans, earlier than they'd like to, so at least that could help push a decision through.

This is exactly what popped into my mind when I read the original post and after more than a decade on this forum and longer than that as an eager fan, I'll stick with the assumption that we're bang on unless otherwise confirmed officially.

But none the less, with Axl and Slash talking again and DJ and BBF being out...kinda makes you think, doesn't it?

  7. There's not much on rock radio in terms of new music. We have bands like Shinedown, Foo Fighters, Sixx AM, Five Finger Death Punch, Avenged Sevenfold, etc, but it seems that any new songs by bands that are over 15 years old seem to get played a lot at first and then drop from the airwaves. This happened with ACDC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, and a handful of others.

Could GnR break that spell though? Could a Slash and Axl reunion produce a hit song that will be played for years to come? Or, would a new GnR song be played for a month and then fall into the void of forgotten songs?

Could GnR have a crossover hit like Aerosmith's Don't Want To Miss a Thing that could introduce GnR to a whole new generation? A song like Patience or November Rain could easily accomplish this.... But do you think it will happen?

Could a Axl-Slash-Duff-Fortus-Frank-Dizzy-Chris lineup accomplish this? Or do you think they need Izzy on board?

Just some things I've been thinking about that I figured would make good discussion.

Does a bear shit in the woods?

  8. I saw someone referring to this a couple of weeks back, but I was sick to fucking death of "Born To Run" by the time I finally managed to get Catcher in The Rye

wait, i don't get it. what's the reference? i'm missing something and it's probably gone right over my head.

On limewire it would say GNR Catcher In The Rye, you would download it and the track was Born To Run...the intro to Born To Run sets me off to this day

Hahahaha, I remember those days. Some asshole took every single rumored title of tracks from CD (I think from the 99 article in Kerrang?) and renamed a bunch of random songs like that for each of them. There were a few songs that actually were rare GNR songs or songs with Axl, like the Asphalt Ballet version of Crash Died with Axl on backup being named Chinese Democracy.

  9. I much preferred his drumming in VR to just about anything he did with GN'R.

What do people think of his new single?

The song is pretty good, but seriously though, what is with the whole dolphin thing? like really?:lol::lol:

On topic, I'm not surprised that he looks back on the launch of VR as his biggest moment. He had a short lived time with the cult and never got all that big there, in GNR he was the first of many replacements to play someone elses shit but in VR he was part of arguably the first legitimate supergroup who generated one hell of a lot of buzz. I have to agree with him that VR was his biggest moment with all things considered.

  10. First off... I'm sorry if I offended anyone or came off as greedy. Yes I was in the internet boom and subsequent bust, lost everything and had to start over. Not that I need to share that but WTF why not. Sunny Dre, I'm sorry if you find me shady. I'm the most honest businessman and person you could ever deal with. I was obviously mistaken when I thought people would want this as badly as I thought they would. My bad. To AxlsOld, I am not begging, its basic crowdfunding. You are not required to participate, and while I was a porn kingpin, like music, when's the last time you paid for porn? Exactly.... I went out of business. Axl Morris, I didnt realize that my posts were "money driven" I just want to make enough to supply Cds to the masses. Maybe Im a bit naive, but not money driven. I live just fine, and have spent plenty on this music over 10 years. I have offered many times to talk to Bill and have even said if on some valid personal reason he doesn't want this out I would consider that. saber_ has a VERY valid point. I have received constant lawyers letters for 11 years. I have nothing to lose so if he sues me so be it. I wrote everything and all the members get paid for every song. Broskirose, no attention would be fine. Being so judgemental is just sad. TWAT, recording an album costs less than mass duplication.

Anyway, sorry you guys feel so anti Kevin, but you're free to your opinions obviously. I'm sorry if I offended or put anybody off. I thought the Kickstarter video was honest and sincere. Maybe I was wrong. I don't know. But my intentions are good, and fault me if you will but business is business. Maybe this will be a failed attempt at the record business. Either way, Try not to hate. Im just a guy who has a piece of history that I have invested 11 years and alot of money into. If I get my investment back I'll jump for joy. Thank you if you read this far... Kevin

Your method of marketing using kickstarter is going to require a bit of patience, given it's a rather niche market.

  11. not just saying this because i'm a fan of slash. paul stanley is a joke.

So is Kiss in general when you think about it. Sure they've got a handful of great songs and are undeniably a staple of rock n' roll history but when you consider how many albums and songs they put out and albums released, the vast majority is garbage that nobody cares about. They were more about image and putting on a pornographic show blown up with massive marketing schemes than they were about music.
