  1. Why did axl used to say this ? I was just re-watching Blade Runner and heard that line in it, did axl used it cuz of the movie ?

Here is Axl telling the story people are talking about. It doesn't explain why he says "wake up" first, but at least explains the "you're gunna die" part.

  2. It sucks that just like every thread used to turn into an Axl vs. Sash debate, it now turns into an "Axls voice" and rasp vs. clean debate.

Sure I'll admit that Axl seemed to peak from 2006 - 2010 in terms of how he sounded, but from what I've seen so far in 2013, he's not sounding bad at all. I would like to hear a good version of LALD with him sounding like that.

Anyways, I hope all you Aussies enjoyed the shows more than all the youtube watching, professional voice critics did from home ;)

  3. I find it somewhat amusing that people are seemingly so oblivious to the fact that the vast majority of aging male celebs have had some kind of hair regeneration procedure, be it rogain/finasteride or some kind of surgical hair transplant. And yes, it's clear that Axl has to, but wooptie fucking shit, who cares? He's a rock star, so of course he wont just let it go uintil he's got a fucking horse shoe on his head. The guy can afford it. and despite the remarks he gets from a bunch of wankers online, it's certainly not as bad as it would be if the man sported a fucking skullet of some kind.

Hairloss is a fact of life and since it can be avoided, sure why not? I started to go bald prematurely over 10 years ago, so back in 2007, I started taking drugs and using rogain for it. And it worked! I've got more hair now than I did 5 years ago and at times it looked like something funky was going on with my hairline when old hair started growing out again. But fuck, I'm still railing more young pussy than I did in university and I'm not getting any younger myself. Cheers to Axl for keeping something on top of his head over all these years.

Now if only he could have as much success releasing albums, we wouldn't have to talk about this pointless bullshit!

  4. I believe that Axl for some reason (like in the '01 & '02 eras) simply lost the ability to sing with rasp consistently without straining his voice. He had to adapt to a new singing style. But then again when in '12 he's singing with rasp like this he doesn't seem exactly in pain does he?

You're Crazy is incredibly well done there, thanks for posting that.

As for the original topic, no there is no chance that Axl is trying to sound younger by singing the way he had been a lot in 2012. He is singing in Falsetto (or as most forum members call it, the Mickey Mouse voice) because it's hard on him to sing in a high tone with lots of rasp. Understandible, considering the length of shows and how long he's been touring for.

  5. Add to the list

    2002 VMA Rehearsals

(goes for 40 minutes, theres a band 'huddle', Axl is angry throughout and they run through each song a few times)

    2006 London Acoustic

(sailing was released from the show youtube.com/watch?v=g09q4tPexj8 )

sladdi at newgnr has the full show

    2010 Adelaide

    youtube.com/watch?v=2GxSkd2lxjg&feature=player_embedded

a user at htgth has the full show

what other shows we know exist post 2000 from gnr, that are uncirculated?

I'll add it to this post in for future reference?

Sladdi has the 06 London complete?? It's really unlike him to hoard and not share - he's always been a great guy like that. Do you know if it's due to some kind of pressure from the camp?

  6. Fortus should be the lead guitarist in the band. Great look and awesome chops. He's damn talented and it's a shame he doesn't do more solos in the songs than he does.

Agreed. I've been saying that since he first joined.

  7. What bothers me about CD is that it seems like there is so much going on at once in some songs. It seems so unnecessarily messy.

For ex. on some songs, I want to really cue in on Bucket's playing but there is some elephant sound effect that is bugging the shit the out of me. Along with what seems like a million other things going on at once.

It's true. When you listen to all of the separate tracks with everything apart, you hear some wonderful shit going on.. ... .... ....

But it's like having 45 beautiful women suck your cock and lick your balls at once. there is simply too much going on to really appreciate or even feel it all at once. It's simply over done.

  8. Really though, that version of the blues was nothing short of Excellence. Shame the 02 tour only had a handful of great moments like that.

They killed 'The Blues.' I loved the RIR 3 Version with the guitars in the beginning, and the tempo of it. I also love the OK never mind part haha. The final version sucks compared to the 2001 version.

  9. I've been thinking, would it make sense for GnR to do what the Beatles did - stop doing live shows and purely get into recording studio material?

I think it does. It would reduce the strain on Axl's voice, allow multiple takes and it wouldn't be 100% necessary to have a steady band. Axl can be the steady factor much like Trent is in NIN. It would keep his options open in working with a variety of artists (Bucket, Robin, possibly even Duff and whoever is interested *coughbrianmaycough*). It would bring focus and hopefully a lot of new material for the fans.

Who's with me on this one, assuming they'd produce an album at least every 2 years.

I'm with you. I posted pretty much the same thing back in like 2006 but people hated the idea for the most part. I've always thought doing the Trent thing was best for him and would have been much much better than dragging the GNR name through the shitter.

  10. FUCK.

If this is the O2 show I'm not gonna be happy.

    Why...?

I can't speak for Powerage, but I think it's safe to say that like most of the rest of us he'll be not so happy that Axl's voice wasn't the greatest that night.

No it is because that channel is not broadcasted in HD

    Ding ding ding!

^if that were the case I dont think it would matter what show it was

Correct. I mean, it's fucking stupid to film a show in HD, and then broadcast it in SD, it's like pissing away money that you didn't need to spend on HD cameras...

Yeah I see your point, it is quite a waste. I wonder if they're planning an HD DVD release for it?

  11. ^if that were the case I dont think it would matter what show it was

On the trailer I think he sounds just fine. Check out some Youtube videos and its really not bad at all. Sure some songs are not perfect but many of them are fine. The whole concert will be mastering...

I agree it certainly isn't terrible, but there were many other shows which were much better and better suited for a broadcast.

I guess in retrospect we're being a little picky, but a broadcast like this hasn't happened in a long long time.
