  1. Axl obviously wants to experiment with different styles of music. He wants to do something new and creative. Slash and Duff are obviously just interested in playing their old brand of generic bluesy/traditional hard rock

Nice subtle dig at Slash & Duff there.

If Axl is making "new and creative" music, he certainly didn't play any of it during the last tour. The Blues sounds like it could easily be from one of the illusion albums. Chinese Democracy is a straightforward 90's rocker. Madagascar is just a very, very simple tune.

Don't get me wrong, I like all of those songs and hope they're on the album, but lets not delude ourselves into thinking they're anything groundbreaking.

Axl wants to make new and creative music (new and creative when compared to the previous GNR albums). He has said in the past that he does not want to remake Appetite and that he wants to evolve GNR's musical identity.

Clearly, you did not read what Dead Flower actually wrote..

I'm sure it contends your opinion of Axl's 'vision'..

    Read her post again,..

Dead Flower said that the new material Axl released during the 2002 tour was in no way creatively diverse than any other Guns N' Roses effort.

    Hence..

The Blues sounds like it could easily be from one of the illusion albums.

    So, I ask..

How is Axl evolving Guns N' Roses musical identity by recording songs that are strikingly similar to the recordings of the Use Your Illusion discs?

You guys definitely have a hard time proving that one..

  2. No one is going to accept this band as Guns N' Roses..

Save for, of course.. this message board

And all those people who went to see them on the 2002 tour... Respected members of the music press/media like Kurt Loader...

In that interview with Slash not long ago (the whole its coming in March one) - Slash said he went to check out "my band" in Vegas in 2002 - so if Slash still recognises it as his band - surely it's still Gn'R?

The mere fact that it was promoted as the 'Triumphant Return of Guns N' Roses' obviously manipulated the general public into believing, it was, in fact.. the return of Guns N' Roses.

I remember seeing pictures with arenas half empty.. and the fact that an official at Clear Channel publicly stated that "this Guns N' Roses" will not be a "stadium band", only proves how ridiculous your comments are.

Remember the real band? They played to stadiums of 30,000..

Axl averaged around 7,000 a gig in 2002.. in arenas that could hold 18,000

I also think it's hilarious how you attempt to prove that this circus is somehow Guns N' Roses because Slash referred to it as, 'his band'..

    Obviously, you missed the sarcasm.

And Loder, of all people, is known for his hard-on when it comes to Axl Rose..

Watch the interviews,.. he's a school girl

  3. Personally I think a lot of people in today's rock music world will not accept the band as Guns N' Roses. If lots of hardcore Axl fans here don't accept the band as Guns N' Roses (I do not accept it myself either although I am not quite an Axl fan) do you think many outside these forums would?

No one is going to accept this band as Guns N' Roses..

  4. Axl won't release a record aimed at insulting the former members,..

At this point, I think the members do have an opportunity to mend the fences, and at the very least, make peace with one another.

A finale show wouldn't be too bad, either..

  5. Listen to the 15 second long high pitched scream at the end of IRS . . . . Axl still has an amazing voice.

    Remember,..

He recorded that in a studio. Anyone can sound like a singer with voice synthesizers..

The 2002 tour was depressing -- but proof, that Rose just doesn't have a voice in him anymore.

    Watch this..

    Now, watch anything from 2002..

that video is fuckin awesome,it displays what guns were all about, (mean dont give a fuck rockers)

    the vocals are top notch

how anyone here can even compare the new band to that is a disgrace they aren't in the same leaugue,(axl what have you done?)

i think the only way to put it is ,if anyone thinks the new band is better than the old is looking threw ROSE tinted glasses

you simply do not get it... the old band is long gone, why dwell on that and constantly compare it to the new band? if you like the old band better, good for you! but that doesn't mean you need to piss on the new band constantly because like it or not, they are guns n roses now.

and thats a great video from a great show, but the band in 2002 took that song to a completely new level. No use in even comparing.

If Rose is, by all means, given a pass in regards to how he manipulates the original band's legacy,.. then we, as his audience, deserve to compare the past, to the present.

And, no matter how hard you try.. you'll never prove to any of us why this circus deserves the title of Guns N' Roses..

More videos, for those interested in the real band..

Paradise City, by the new band!

  6. Deep Purple (also Blackmore has said he would do a one off reunion show, could this be it?)

It's amazing to see Deep Purple still around,..

I saw a recent performance, and Gillan looked ready to give his fat heart an attack..

But in the spirit of rock,.. rock on.

  7. The Clash were something..

By punk standards, I think they filled the gap of the 80's when The Ramones were in limbo.

I'm a fan of their reggae influenced material, -- White Man In Hammersmith Palais, Rudie Can't Fail.

    They've got some quality albums..

  8. Since Hendrix and Vaughn are missing (..why?)

    I'll go with Jimmy Page.

    Here's a history lesson..

Van Halen's technique was inspired by Page's performance of Heartbreaker in 1971, when he did rapid pull off's on open strings.

  9. They already made the best rock album of all time: Appetite for Destruction.

Now they are going to make one better: Chinese Democracy.

You make them sound like the same band..

  10. Hit Parader: Do you ever worry that the persona of Axl Rose will get bigger than Guns N’ Roses?

AXL: The bottom line is that nothing can come between Slash and I, and as long as we have that bond we have Guns N’ Roses. However big I get can only help the band because it attracts more attention to Guns N’ Roses. I’m not worried about being pulled in other directions. I need Guns N’ Roses in my life.

The irony of the comment is how he portrays Guns N' Roses as the Axl and Slash band..

By the way,.. a few of you mentioned the band working on an album, and Axl refusing to use any of the material.

Stradlin gives an interesting perspective on the issue..

  11. Apologies... Fuhrer Madison. :P

    ;)

Based on Rose's track record, expect nothing. Since 2002, this board has gone through the same routine and dance..

In the 'bullshit department', a businessman can't hold a candle to Axl Rose.
