good point. Punk is not mainstream. The reason punk is so cherished by it's fans is b/c it is different,rebellious,and for people that are anti mainstream.

As for the main question though -punk is strong . Listen to any band on Tim Armstrongs(rancid) hell cat records or almost every band on Fat Wreck Chords and you will hear great stuff that will give you a gigantic boner

Of course they wouldn't sell if they were a band of today, in case you hadn't noticed, the music industry of the 21st century was went down the pan, and the pans been flushed down the toilet.

not true at all.just about every band on Fat Wreck Chords and Hell Cat records are great. A lot of great bands out there.

why do people hold this band up so high? Stairway to Heaven is the most boring song ever. Well not as boring as a pink floyd song but pretty close.Page can play a decent guitar but he's no hendrix. Plant has a whiney voice . The first album had some fairly good songs but they never really expanded on their sound. As for lyrics , they did nothing for me. I've never heard one of their songs and gotten that cool feeling that a good song can give ya. I understand that a listener isn't gonna necessarily understand what every songs message is but all their songs are an abuse of the english language. if led zeppelin was a new band today they wouldn't sell. the music is nothing ground breaking and the lyrics make no sense whatsoever. this is my OPINION so don't crap yourself.

I was at MSG, known as the worlds most famous venue, and they sold it out and put on the sickest concert I have ever seen live. I don't think that's a failure! Also they have sold out many huge venues and are making a shit load of money even though...

1)Only one original member is still in the band. And he is 43, meaning the young crowd doesn't relate to him .

2)No new music in over a decade....As long as you don't count "Oh My God" which no real fan would.

3)No promotion! I have yet to see one commercial,billboard. I didn't even see a newspaper add leading up to the MSG show.

Anyone who thinks this is a failure needs to learn what the word means

But think about it this way-Axl has stated numerous times that the album is coming this year.We have one month and 3 weeks left.No company would ever realease a major album after the first week of december.
