  1. If i were you i'd save up and buy a better guitar. if you were to splash out on buying new pickups for your squier it wouldnt exactly have THAT much difference on the guitar, obviously you would get a recognisable difference in the sound quality, but still its the equvilant of 'doin-up' a cheap car, ie- in the UK its like doing up a vauxhall nova! lol. so basically... not really worth it. I'd save up til you find a guitar you prefer the looks of, sound of, and has a bit more value behind it.

Thats my advice anyways, its of course all up to you. But just take into consoderation, would you spend lots of money doing up a small cramped house or save up a bit longer and buy a plush mansion!? (slight exaggeration on the comparison, but still i hope it puts it into perspective?)

I'm sure people will disagree with me, but hey its my point of view.

good luck! hope it helps a little :)

  2. ouch! my ears have just been raped!

damian not bad for one year etc, but if you can't play slow riffs & licks with feeling and make them sound sexy, why try and play fast? get the basics down first and the fast stuff will come to you a lot quicker and sound a lot cleaner and less clumsy! constructive criticism mate, not tryin to be harsh. ;)

  7. I saw paul gilbert live when he was playing a small gig in Bath, UK, some time last septmeber.. and i'm sure he could out pick buckethead with ease. I mean the guy was doing sweep picking with his teeth!!! No joke!

He also has an immense knowledge of music, so most of his songs, and shredding in general are not boring at all. A true genius on the guitar. Plus the fact that he actually had a sense of humour whilst playing!

  8. Basically the title says it all.

My favourites besides the obvious Free Bird, would have to be Gimme 3 steps, Tuesday's gone, and Ballad of Curtis Lowe. I fucking love this band! Any other recommendations of bands that are similar?

I hate this guy! he made fun of neil young because neil wrote "Southern Man" then this fuck head got all offended and made fun of him in Sweet home Alabama. fucking dick shitter! :fuckyou:

    PCE

uhhh, no i think you hate Ronnie Van Zant, not me!

Anyways, apparentely there is no hard feeligs betwwen LS and Neil Young anymore. Plus, Neil Young is my favourite solo artist.

Like a Hurricane & Cortez the killer are 2 of the finest songs ever written.

  9. BB King is awesome. I know its not blues, its blues rock, but go listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn - one of the best guitarists the world has ever seen.

  11. Not heard that much Def Leppard, but i've got Hysteria & Pyromania coming to me in the next few hours... but songs i've heard which i love are -

    - Photograph (i love the groove behind it!)

    - Pour Some sugar on me (cliched.. but it rocks)

  12. Brian May and Brian May's Delay System

How about "The Edge" and "The Edge's" delay system?!! ...

just remembering Bill Bailey's piss take of the edge now... amazing!

oh and for those too serious to get it, i was being sarcastic!

But Scott Gorham & Brian Robertson/John Sykes/Gary Moore spring to mind

  13. After watching that japanese/chinese guy on some other threads i've decided to put myself to trying to learn that Neil Zaza song - "I'm Alright".. the first bits are easy... but there are some tricky bits... i can't do sweep picking though so im screwed when the cool fast sweeping runs come in :(

Has anyone got any tips for sweeping.. i've tried really hard to try and get it but i just cant ever get stuff up to any speed where it doesn't sound like i'm just picking the notes. I've been playing for approx 3-4 years now so i'm not that bad, but sweeps seem to always fuck me up! :anger:

Any help would be appreciated.. thanks guys & gals

  14. That Slash Epi...does it come with standard Epi humbuckers or Seymour Duncans? What about the new Slash guitar

Nah it comes with epiphone humbuckers... but i've got the seymour duncans alnico II pro's to put in... i've had them lying about for a few months now, still havent got round to putting them in though!
