  1. Bottomline: The message here is simply this, just because Better is Axl's favourite song doesn't mean it's the best song on the album.

Well yes but that doesn't mean the songs that are supposedly superior to Better are anywhere near as good as scom.

That's also true, but I don't think that was the point in the first place. As far as songs being better or worse then SCOM, there's no point in discussing it because we haven't heard the album yet. For all we know, there could be some songs on CD that are miles ahead of SCOM, or perhaps not.

  2. I think part of the positive of all these leaks (and believe me, there's some negative too) is that it's getting people settled into the new GNR sound. This band is a different band than the old one, period. We now have a sample of the kind of sounds we can expect on the record and have a chance to really get into Axl's new style. For the casual fans, it erases all thoughts of another Appetite or 100% industrial stuff like OMG. When the album does finally drop, it won't take nearly as long to get into and settle into the new sound and style as it would without some of these leaks.

  3. GNR fans are moths to the flame....when will you learn to pull back just a tad?

I know, and the guy just heard it wrong, it was close to what the dj said. To answer your question, after this wait...imagine the moth in total darkness for years, somebody lights a bick 20 miles away, you get the idea. lol

We really can't be too dissapointed in the recent days events, look back 6-7 weeks, talk about darkness.

It's funny, but after the release of the album and all the touring business, I imagine a lot of forum members here will probably look back and reminisce about how awful it was to be a GNR fan between 2003-2005.

    Chinese Democracy

    Madagascar

    Rhiad and the Bedouins

    Oh My God

    Silkworms

    Better demo

    IRS

    The Blues

I'm getting them just now over msn and I asked the guy if the yare live and he said:

studio...but there is some live ambience to

    some of them...????

If it is the blood roses remix it shouldn´t include the tracks "Rhiad and the Bedouins" and "Silkworms". So if you have those two what does it sound like? Is it a live remix or new leaks???

I have publicly posted my remix of Rhiad (but that was several years ago). I've never posted my remix of Silkworms though.

  5. "He said this album will show everyone who was the main ingredient from GN'R."

If he said that, it really sucks.

I recall awhile ago Duff was misquoted to have said that Axl wrote NOTHING in Guns N' Roses. Take that quote about Axl being the main ingredient with a grain of salt.

  6. Thanks. Yeah, I was proud of what I was able to accomplish with that static track of IRS. Course, these new studio demos make them completely obsolete (thank God). Of all the new tracks, I have to say the work I did on Better (the clip, I'm still not done remastering the full length version) was definitely the most drastic improvement.

  7. I don't think so. I've done some remastering of the new stuff as well, but I'm certainly not going to post it on the forum boards as it is clearly against the rules.

Do you think any of the remastering of the songs that you've done has made them any better?

Well, they're studio demos so unlike live tracks or the static version of IRS, there isn't much need for a lot of cleaning up or polishing. Mostly, I did a lot of EQing to try and get Axl's vocals a little louder in the mix as well as trying to mix the guitars and bass a tad bit better. I've also compressed and added limiter to the songs (which has ultimately increased the quality of the tracks as well as made them louder). I haven't made drastic changes, but that's pretty much because there isn't anything that needs drastic changes. It's also hard to make Axl's vocals louder in the mix when I don't have the seperate tracks (if I did, I could make something much more radio-friendly then what we presently have).

  9. TWAT sounded only "ok" to me the first time I heard it. After repeated listens, I honestly have to say that right now it's my favourite track. The melody in the verses is brilliant and I'm in love with the lyrics. The subject matter and tone of the song is...well, great. It's catchy, emotional, and has many the of the epic elements present in parts of UYI.

Better is also a very catchy song, much more hard rocking then the other tracks. The hook is great and I love the verses. Even though we don't have a complete version of it, Better has to be my 2nd favourite song.

IRS is just ok for me. The hook, "Gonna call the president" etc is a bit too repetative and on the whole the song sounds a bit bland. I realize this is just a demo so I'm hoping that this won't be the case for the album version.

  10. Also, I.R.S isn't even one of the top 10 tracks...

    what do you mean?

When questioned about IRS, Merck revealed that out of all the A-material recorded for the album "IRS" isn't even in the top 10 of the best tracks. If he was only talking about tracks slated for CD, then you can pretty much deduce for yourself that IRS is in the bottom 3 of the 13 track album (as far as songwriting/quality wise).
