  1. Righto, so, no golden circle ticket means no golden circle guys. Being one of the first in the queue didn't help!

At AC/DC last year fans who queued up early got into the golden circle.

    New plan needed for tomorrow!

Not sure what I think about those with the most money only being able to get up close...

Anyway, ready to rock. This is going to be HUGE!!!

  2. Good to see lurkers signing up! I hadn't posted for ages until today - my times of reading and contributing to GNR forums since 1996 seemed to be behind me... but here we are!! Exciting times once again!

So, being in the UK, this will air at 4.30 am - Do you think this'll be available to watch on youtube or some other download/stream by the time I get up (6.30ish)? Or are most of you maniacs getting up at 4.30am to watch live???

  3. :headbang::headbang::headbang: Axl Rose & Slash Will Appear Together On Jimmy Kimmel, Reunion In Works For Years :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Jimmy Kimmel has confirmed that Axl Rose will be appearing on his show tomorrow via his website. He also followed Axl Rose and Slash, confirming that the legendary Guns N’ Roses members will end their decades long feud and reunite on his Tuesday night show. Recent rumors have dated back the reconciliation between the two to before Guns N’ Roses’ 2014 Las Vegas residency, with this 2016 reunion being in the works for 2 years.

Lol, there's ZERO chance that Slash could pop up there...

I despise this Brett Buchanan guy, he is a joke

Seriously - An example of the media bandwagon jumping we're gonna get a lot more of. Unless I'm missing something this clown has declared a Slash appearance as fact based on Kimmel following Slash on Twitter.... Jeez.... anything to try and claim an advantage and declare "You heard it here first folks!!"

  4. Man up, be there for your fans considering they have been there for you through a lot of abuse and neglect, and swallow what you see as an imperfect situation.

THIS is what you use to measure being there for your fans???? Really????

If, according to Axl, we're not allowed to celebrate the past

What the hell are you talking about???

The Hall of Fame REALLY means that much????? It's some sort of watershed in Guns history???? Pfftt....

  5. The Sex Pistols manufactured "rebellion", both in the late 70's and with regard to the HOF, is equally phony.

Oh - now you're going down the wrong alley. If you knew anything about Britain in the late 70's and where the pistols came from, you'd know that was bullshit.... but that's off topic and an argument for another time....

  6. When did we start equating Rock N' Roll with shitting on fans. It's one thing to be true to oneself, acting consistently, and being a through-and-through rock n' roller. It's another to never show an ounce of concern or consideration to the people who paid and supported for the artist to act that way. This isn't an issue of Axl owing us anything other than mutual respect. We get and accept the antics, but when it's a matter of showing the bare minimum of appreciation for his fan base, he won't lift a finger. If he wants to go tell the R&RHOF to go fuck themselves, that's fine. Sex Pistols beat him to it but fine. But at least let everyone else have their moment. I do not see how he reconciles his own observation that the induction is about the fans with the letter stating how objectionable it is for him to be treated in such a manner with respect to receiving an award that few get to receive.

Rock N' Roll is dangerous, uncontrollable, and unpredictable. It's part of the reason we all support and admire what GNR was and to some extent, what GNR and Axl is today. What Rock N' Roll isn't is being a dick at the constant expense of your fans. Axl's constant rejection of the semiotic relationship between artist, music and fans is his biggest flaw. He is part of the relationship, not its entirety. We appreciate his music, we acknowledge the antics, and we admire his theatrics. All we ask back is for a little respect. I was not one holding out for any meaningful gesture between Axl and his former members on Saturday. Hell, I put the odds at 10 to 1 that he was even going to show up. But I never for a second considered he'd withdraw his name and support of being inducted. As he mentioned earlier, this was about the fans to celebrate what we all love. He couldn't even give us that.

When we did start equating shitting on fans with not giving the fans what they want regardless of the person in question's feelings or preferences?

    Ali

    Fuckin 'ay!

    The article is spot on.

  7. Really..... why does anyone care about any of this crap?....

Oh, Axl looks like a dick..... so?

Oh, he's not doing what (some) fans want.... so?

Oh, he hasn't gone about it the right way..... so?

Oh, he doesn't appreciate the honour..... so?

Do I give a shit about what anyone thinks of Axl, what the media say, what a-holes on twitter and facebook say - hell no, why should I?

I'm sorry, I should expect him to change who he is and suddenly cater to some bullshit I couldn't give a crap about? Sex Pistols wouldn't have it either - damn straight, and did their fans care?

You want the old band to perform once? What the fuck for? What's the difference now from any other time? It would be the hollowest, most pathetic sentimental bullshit ever. You really thought that was going to happen? Give me a fuckin' break....

All I care about is that I'll be in Europe this summer rockin' my ass off. Axl brings it his own way - I dig it, I'm there.

Roll on the tour, and with a bit of luck more music in the future.

  8. Oh man, getting excited now...

Merseyside derby (Everton cut us some slack please after this last week :D ), and then GNR tonight. Going down nice and early to get some drinking in and a bit of Bach...

Think I'll get down to the Roadhouse in Birmingham next week too, as I live round the corner, for some G2R (so I can give them some stick for being some lucky backstage passing motherfuckers :tongue2: ).

  9. This is spot on, all I see is moaning about

    a. Lateness

    b. Axl's apprearance

There was a time where rock n' roll was about recklessness, breaking rules, and was generally an ugly, dirty business. Nowadays everyone has to be on time and a 50 year old man should be performing and looking exactly the same as when he was 20? Give me a break.

I've yet to read one respectable review of the actual music / performance. That's sad.

As to whoever it was above who's yacking about Axl's / Bumble's negativity - I was at Reading and they were both having the time of their lives, Axl cracking jokers and such. Even when they were cut off Axl had a grin on his face as he tried to rouse the crowd and conduct them singing. Was great fun.

  10. This is shaping to be a legendary show.

I hope they come on at 9, Axl rants / explains what happened at Reading, and then they blow everyone's minds and play until they're cut off again.

Then - when they're cut off, make sure they're prepared and play an acoustic set through some seperately powered equipment.

It would be talked about for years.

Ah... the power of dreams....

  11. Do you know what - most of this bullshit doesn't bother me. I still had a great time.

BUT... People need to give Axl his dues. He was there 4 hours early and as the guy at the last festival said: he was "insanely professional".

NOW... We don't know why they came on at the time they came on so how the fuck can people start coming on here bashing Axl?! Based on what?

  12. No problem guys.

Like I said - this was from where I was standing right at the front. If there was booing during the set / or poor reaction it was further back so I wouldn't know. People definitely left before they came on because of the wait - but come on? 10:30, at a festival?!! I suppose everyone has different expectations.....

    :-)

  13. Right guys, just got back home from Reading. What a weird night! Haven't read the whole thread but here's what I saw front and centre:

Guns were due on at 9:30 but the stage wasn't ready at 9:30 so there was no way that was going to happen. Stage seemed to be ready at about 9:50 although there was still technicians running across stage every now and then until 10:15. Guns went on around 10:30. The crowd were getting anxious and there was some booing and anti Axl chanting, but they all went nuts when Chinese Democracy started.

The whole band was off to a blistering start, non stop 4 or 5 songs, crowd won over and singing every word, although the mix was a little out at the start losing the lead guitar(s).

Gotta say the crowd surprised me - I didn't see anything thrown at the stage and they seemed to show decent appreciation for the new material and solos. There was the odd Slash chant thrown in, but that lead to my favourite moment of the night: DJ launched into his This I Love solo and I heard people saying "He's not Slash, but he's fucking good!" and actually the crowd really appreciated the solo.

Rest of the show: Whole band were tight, Axl was spot on, and they were having a great time, even making a jokey extended end to November rain (when it also decided to start raining) where Axl kept messing around on the piano and prolonging it. Another highlight was the whole crowd singing Another Brick In the Wall with Axl. Axl was in a great mood and actually was very professional taking the problem with the main screen and technicians having to come out and work around him to fix the stage all in his stride.

End: As nightrain came towards the end: Axl must have been told that they wanted them off because he said something like "Why do we even bother coming?" before throwing his mic in the air and leaving the stage. The band finished the song without him and there was all kinds of commotion going on in the wings as Fernando and others tried to get him back (maybe they thought they would still be allowed to finish? I don't know).

So Axl goes back out and tries to talk to the crowd and starts singing better, but his mic was off and so was the rest of the equipment so we couldn't hear anything. Amazingly he was still in a good mood and had a grin on him as he tried to get the crowd going and encourage the promoter to let them finish. At this point the crowd were 100% behind Guns. Frank, DJ, Ron, everyone was on stage refusing to leave, clapping along with the crowd as they chanted "fuck you reading", "let them play", "one more song", and "we shall not be moved".

It was actually quite funny: The crowd tried to sing Paradise City which was awesome, then the guys decided to stage some sort of sit in, and (what would have been brilliant, and a legendary moment if it worked) Ron tried to play an acoustic through a loudspeaker. Ha! I got slightly worried when Ron seemed to start motioning for people to come over the barrier! Then when they realised it was all over, the guys thanked the crowd, and all came down to the front to meet the crowd, and of course Axl told us via the loudspeaker that they had had problems with this promoter before and wouldn't be at Leeds.

My opinion of the whole thing was that:

a). the band were late on but I don't know who's to blame - The stage wasn't ready on time anyway, the band were there 4 hours early, so I don't know what happened.

    b. Guns started at 10:30 - that's not late to me, and it did give them time for a 1.5 hour set. But I can understand why people didn't like waiting. Bear in mind this though: I waited the best part of an hour for Rage Against the Machine to get on stage at Download so there's nothing unusual about the wait.

c). The guys wanted to play 1 or 2 more songs. They probably would have been finished 15 minutes after curfew, the crowd wanted it, so why couldn't the promoter connect with the spirit of the festival and rock n' roll and let them finish?

d). I could understand if it was impossible, but it wasn't. What pissed me off the most is that as Axl and the guys sat on stage you could hear music from other tents booming across the arena - why weren't they cut off? If there's any proof that the promoters put their own agenda ahead of the enjoyment and the safety of the fans - this is it.

Sorry for the long post, but I know I'd want to hear the full details if I wasn't there. The whole band did nothing put put on a good spirited, fun show, even smiling as thye had to leave. There was nothing but respect for the fans. It was the promoter who lost sight of the paying customers and music fans being the most important thing here.

    Cheers guys,
