The amount of popups and ads on that website is incredibly annoying and makes it very difficult to concentrate on the article.

The Trevor Bauer situation reminded me to wait for more details before lighting my lynching torch. It's an ugly situation, and if the accusations are true, I hope justice is swiftly served. The reported behavior is disscusting.

Great question! I've been trying hard to remember if I enjoyed anything from them since Illusions more than Monsters. Maybe the original 2006 Better leak, or the Prostitute leak, but this might be superior.
Maybe it's recency bias, but The General/Monsters feels like everything I wanted the Chinese Democracy album to be.

Imagine having Monsters sitting around for all these years, but leaving it on the shelf to release Absurd instead?
I can't decide if it's funny or upsetting.

You know, Taylor swift gets a lack of flack for her amount of breakup songs. Axl gives her a run for her money with the Seymour songs haha. Not hating, I love how he writes his deepest emotions into songs. Monsters lyrics are basically an extension of There Was A Time, same vibe, about a crazy narcissistic woman who is emotionally and mentally tormenting Axl. ‘I would do anything for you, there was a time.’ And ‘I was there for you, it’s all that I could do.’ And of course a couple lines about the promiscuous sexual nature of the lady. I wish I could make out what Axls deep vocals are on the song. ‘The Monsters have _____ me,’ is what I hear, there’s a super heavy robotic effect on those deep vocals, unlike the more raw deep vocals on TWAT and Shacklers.
Really hope we get State of Grace soon… it’s interesting that The General at the end has the same vocal scatting melodys as State of Grace in the climax of that song. Half of the parts, Axl seemed to not have the lyrics for yet. He’s 100% switching between singing words and just the Melodies at the end of The General and I can’t imagine that’s what Axl wanted the final outcome to be. Just like how he eventually found the right words to end Street of Dreams.
I have a very similar interpretation of Monsters. It feels a catchier yet darker version of TWAT.

The verses of Monsters seems to be more about a jilted lover to me, and not child abuse like The General.
My interpretation is Axl acknowledging that he unwillingly brought his “Monsters” into the ill-fated Stephanie relationship.
[Verse 1]A tour-de-force of an evil old passion
A broken heart that was out of fashion
Dynamic duo, in your big attraction
My early warning was your satan laughing[Chorus]
I was there for you
It's all I could do
Oh but it's over now
Oh but it's over now
[Verse 2]
You stole my soul with the devil's romancing
All alone in your bedroom, dancing
Thought I could feel somebody worth having
But in the end I guess you're good for the damning- 2

My latest random thoughts…
If you’re expecting a poppy ballad, this is not your song sweet child.
If Coma was the soundtrack of an estranged past, prepare for a bitter sweet reunion.

I’ve been absorbing and processing Monsters on repeat all evening. I’m a little speechless. This was everything I expected for the Chinese Democracy album, in one song.
Beautiful. Tragic. Amazing. Fuck!?!?

First off, well done! It's so nice to see a well-made, fun, and happy music video from GNR. It's cool how they incorporated the supporting cast.
Also, is that John 5 at 2:46? I believe he was rumored to replace Buckethead at one time

On today's episode of Don't Call Us Spinal Tap.
Slash - Yo, just a heads up, I'm releasing some music this week Dua Lipa... and Barbie too I think.
Axl - Yeah well I'm going to have Fernando show pieces of paper with song names written on them. Maybe some of those songs were recorded in a chicken coup, maybe they weren't.
Mellissa - Hey I think Brain was on some of those songs? Also, have I been in GnR longer than Brain???
Richard - Pffff... Brain...quitter, I'm the longest-serving GnR guitarist. C'mon Dizzy, I'll take you Ronnie Wood's favorite boutique shop in Amsterdam.
I love and hate this band so much. Can't wait to see what they do tomorrow.

Who knew how true Slash's words would be, they are literally trying to figure out how to release new music, I'm pretty sure this is not the way
"We're still trying to figure out how to release new music in this day and age. It's not like it used to be where you just put out an album and people would buy it. Now there are so many different ways to release music and it's hard to know what the best way is."

Funny isn’t it that no other artists at glastonbury have had the mic sound issues Axl did - the sound for Elton is amazing and his vocals are loud, no issues for him.
Apparently Blondie had the same issue. Maybe they fixed it? Either way Elton sounds freaking GREAT!!!

Speaking of "hitting the nail on the head", imagine if someone told you the below in the early 2000's.
Slash and Duff will re-record Silk Worms - ABSURD!
Silkworms will be the first release by the reunited band - ABSURD!

What! You should be banned from this forum for all eternity. The Garden of Eden video is awesome, one of my favourite GnR vids, and a great song too !
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say The Garden of Eden video sucked, I mean how can anyone ever think such a thing? It’s just my second least favorite GnR visual masterpiece. I mean cinematography alone…. Drool!!!
To this day, I feel that we were all robbed when they decided to not release the sequel to The Garden of Eden video - My World.
But hey, until the epic My World video hopefully one day leaks, we have The Garden of Eden and the Hard Skool lyric video to tide us over, and I’m ok with that 😉

In an attempt to say positive things…. Ummm… I still really like the song… and the Garden of Eden is no longer the GNR video I like the least…?
#positivity?

My 5 simple steps to happiness today.
STEP 1. Get in car.
STEP 2. Play Hard Skool.
STEP 3. Find max volume before distortion.
STEP 4. SHUT THE FUCK UP and enjoy a new officially released GnR rocker.
STEP 5. See STEP 4.- 9

Me - I can’t fucking believe they released Silkworms, what a terrible choice.
Also me - I should probably listen to it again…. Fuck, it’s kind of good.

***COOL STORY ALERT***
Wow! So cool to finally see the Pro Shot version of this show, I thought it was just a fable and didn't believe it actually existed.
In 2010 I went to see Them Cooked Vultures at The Joint in Vegas. Before the show started I was playing cards in the Hard Rock Casino. Gersh (Dave Grohl's and Brain's drum tech) sat down right beside me. I recognized him straight away but did my best to play it cool and chat him up.
Without any provoking from me he started talking about the GNR HOB gig when he was backstage teching for Brain ("Axl's drummer of the day").... according to Gersh during one of the new songs the laptop that controlled Axl's infamous lyric teleprompter system died.... during the following solo Axl very calmly walked backstage and without a word smashed the laptop on the floor. Went back on stage and calmly played the rest of the show without insedent.
Later on he talked about Dave and Slash working together, what a sweet guy Slash was and how much money was being left on the table by GNR not reuniting.
Disclaimer - time and alcohol may have inadvertently altered my story to protect the guilty.
Cheers!

So the set list is jungle, rocket queen ?

This is ssoooooooo much better then doing an interview. He's cut out the middle man and bringing his message direct to the fans.
The haters are really someting else, we have CD, and Axl is talking to us in our forums and u still bash?
What more do u want?
prairieboy,

So, in two of those pics, Axl looks EXACTLY the same. Same body tilt, same look on his face. No red eye in the second pic. I think it's FAKEAROO.
Thats what I thought too. But if you look REALLY close, his shirt creases differently in the 2 pics.

I love this version! In my opinion, the orchestral lead-in makes the beginning more digestible and gives it more of a grandiose epic feel.
This feels way more like the song I was hoping for. Well done!!!
