  1. But the lyrics make me want to put a bullet in my head. In every damn song is Axl blaming other people for his screwed up past or his screwed up present. EVERY SONG. My god, man, haven't you paid enough shrinks over the past 15 years that you can finally GET OVER IT??!! Look in the mirror, man. Talk some responsibility. Move on.

That's a good way to describe the new songs.

  2. Don't hail me

    An don't idolize the ink

Or I've failed in my intentions

Can you find the missing link

Your only validation is living your own life

Vicarious existence is a fucking waste of time

  3. I see where the author of this thread is going. I agree with your points also. Axl needs a few tracks 'rock and roll' type tracks to hopefully have a little balance to the record. If the record is all heartbroken, angst, etc. then the record IMO won't be that good as a whole.

And whoever doesn't like Dust and Bones, are crazy. Not only is that one of the only tracks from the illusion discs that has a real 'rock and roll' swagger to it, it is also one of the most truthful songs gnr ever recorded.

It's my favorite song from both illusion discs, and in my top 5 gnr songs. One of my favorite songs, period.

Sorry to take this very good discussion thread a little of course with the last paragraph. As everyone resumed.

  4. I never met her, she worked a basketball tournament I played in in DC when i was in high school. She followed my college career and met one of my teamates in LA and got my phone number from him. She said she had been tryin to get in touch with me forever. I just called her to get that photo and she is out in NYC with Chris Webber...She works for the best damn sports show, so she is on business. I am going to meet her for drinks tonight, aint that a twist...I just wish there was not so much doubting and negativity..but i can see it, I often times am skeptical of many things I hear about gnr on this board.. I was just tryin to tell a cool story, that was kinda messe up I though people on here would appreciate.. As you can see by my status I dont post much cause If i dont have anything worth sayin I dont...

    Have a good time dude.

What college did you play BBall for? To me, it sounds like this broad really wants you to slip here the sausage...

  5. Not only did you miss the chance to party with Axl Rose, you missed any chance of getting sweaty with what looks like to me, a pretty smoking chick. Are you homosexual??

  6. Does anyone still believe AXL N ROSES will have a sold out North American tour and sell millions of copies of Chinese Democracy in the States (the only market that matters, Sorry Europe)??

  7. I just saw the Crowes a couple of months ago. They covered Neil Young. Marc Ford is really sweet. He's doing a solo show out here in a couple of week. I'm going to go check it out.

That's cool about the Crowes and Izzy and Slash. I've always thought their styles had a lot in common. Similarly, I've always thought Chris Robinson would have made a geat singer for VR.

I wish the Crowes would draw back a bit from the whole Jam Band thing. Every song doesn't have to be fifteen minutes.

I saw the Crowes twice on the past tour, and one show was a lot of jams, the other show it was kept to a minimum. They still kick ass. I saw them in 1992, and was blown away. They had way more energy then most bands I have ever seen at the time, and the crowd was literally dancing the whole night. Plus, I don't remember them doing any jams. Best concert I have ever been to.

Chris would be a good singer with VR, but I think John Corabi would have been a perfect fit.

Anyways, this thread is getting a little off topic.

Anyone out there have any cool Gnr trivia/info that most of us don't know???? Share.

  8. ****Read the part in bold*****

November 16, 1991, Saturday, Orange County Edition

SECTION: Calendar; Part F; Page 1; Column 5; Entertainment Desk

    LENGTH: 608 words

HEADLINE: O.C. GUITARIST TO JOIN ROCK'S BLACK CROWES

BYLINE: By MIKE BOEHM, TIMES STAFF WRITER

    DATELINE: FULLERTON

    BODY:

Marc Ford, one of the most exciting young guitarists on the Orange County rock scene, is leaving his own struggling band, Burning Tree, to join the Black Crowes, a group from Georgia whose debut album sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.

Ford, who lives in Fullerton, said Friday that he also received an offer this week to join Guns N' Roses as an on-stage substitute for Izzy Stradlin, a guitarist who is reportedly reluctant to continue touring.

Ford said he refused that offer because playing with the Black Crowes will be "a lot more fun -- it's more my kind of music. I didn't think twice. I'm far more into the Black Crowes' music than the Guns N' Roses thing."

Ford said that Slash, a member of Guns N' Roses, called "out of the blue" on Monday and Tuesday offered him a spot in the band's touring lineup. By then, Ford had already agreed to join the Black Crowes. A spokesman for Guns N' Roses' management declined to comment when contacted Friday.

Ford, 25, became friends with the Black Crowes last year when Burning Tree traveled as the Crowes' opening act on a two-month club tour. He said that the Black Crowes' singer, Chris Robinson, called him two or three weeks ago and said the band intended to replace one of its guitarists, Jeff Cease.

....the rest of the article does not relate to the topic....

Marc Ford is good friends with Slash from way back in the day. Ford recorded most of his solo record at the Snakepit studios. Slash also played with the Crowes in 1991 at a couple shows I beleive.

Izzy was the first guitarist to be asked to take over Jeff Cease's guitar spot in the Crowes (which was taken by Ford). Izzy declined because he didn't want to be in another major band. Izzy still remains friends with the members of the Crowes. Marc Ford plays on the Ju Ju Hounds record. The Crowes and the Ju Ju hounds use to party alot together, and there are some good stories in that Izzy book that was released.

If you don't know who the Black Crowes are......... do yourself a favor and go listen to "Shake Your Money Maker", "Southern Harmony and The Musical Companion", and "Amorica". Some of the best albums from the 1990's, adn definetely one of the best bands from the 1990's.

Who has some GNR Trivia, that people don't really know about.?? Post in this thread.

  9. The security guard should have stayed out of it?

Yes because if you're in charge of security and two guests are arguing and could possibly annoy other guests you are beeter to leave them to it.His job is to secure a hotel and its guests, he may have been over happy in his job but it's his fucking job.

Axls job is to be Axl < they both did their jobs and Axl came off looking worse < shit happens but lets not act like security had no buisness in getting involved ;)

Are you retarded? It was entirely the security guards job to intervene.

What happens if the situation got worse???? Other peple in the hotel are at more danger! Anything can happen! That's why hotels hire security guards.

  10. ya know...i was just looking at the iron maiden dvd from last year....and Bruce Dickinson is older than Axl Rose..and he ran around like CRAZY, wasnt tired...wasnt outta breath..i think Axl is slackin off if an older rocker can pwn him so badly....Bruce is 4? years old than Axl?

...and yeah..after watching the replay(s), the band was pretty static on stage..sticking to their own area so to speak....hmm...definately a diff band..i wonder if they were teritorial...hmm.

and Id compare Brain to either Dave Lombardo, or Danny Carey for skill..that guy is right up there in my opinion :D

Dickinson shits all over Axl in terms of singing, stage presence and being all around performer and entertainer. He is truly in a class and level of his own.

  11. Am I the only one who thought Axl sounded like crap? He was out of key on several songs including Sweet Child. He was definetely out of breath for some parts and he couldn't really hit the high notes. With that said, he is older, but this was a better performance from him over the VMA's in 2002.

The only problem with the show, is that it is dull. The solos bored me to tears, and it wasn't the mix that caused this. Maybe it's just they have no chemistry together so far, but the show was boring. None of the members really have any stage presence, and Axl has lost about 100 steps since the early 90's (which is understandable).

I thought a lot of shows from 2002 were far away better then this show, and the shows from 2002 weren't that great either.

  12. In 2002, I saw Axl and his whole entourage at an after hours lounge here the day before the concert. No one could get to him because he had an entourage of yes men etc. around him at all times. Fans wanted to say hi and stuff but no one ven got close, except for some big titted blondes.

Axl is a prick and always has been. We're talking about the guy who has caused multiple riots at several shows for some stupid petty bullshit. He doesn't care about you. Never has, never will. Just make sure to by his record to help finance his rich spoiled ass, and to always swing from his nuts... we don't want him to lose his prima donna attiude now, do we?

  13. this is the lineup if alll these storys in this thick plot come together.

    Axl Rose

    Slash

    Robin Fink

    Richard Fortus

Matt Sorum (unlikely so ill put Brain in these here brackets)

Duff Mckagen (a bit iffy so ill put stinsons name in thses here brackets............. but just to be safe he gets no capital letters)

    and Mr. Dizzy Reed

    (Chris Pittman)

I think the lineup (if all rumors are true) would look more like this:

    Axl Rose

    Slash

    Duff

    Matt

    Richard Fortus

    Dizzy Reed

  14. A Helpful hint for anyone trying to get tickets to these theater shows:

It is really hard and nearly impossible to get tickets for these shows. The best way is to check if the Hammerstein Ballroom has a special club to the public where you pay yearly and could get first dibs on tickets. Usually most theaters and halls are like this. This is also a Clear Channel production, so check out if Clear Channel is doing some pre-sale for members of CC.com?

If they do have one, join. That will be the only guarantee you will have to get tickets to these shows. I have tried before with other bands and it is nearly impossible to get tickets. David Gilmour is playing 2 shows over here in a 2,500 seat hall, and NO tickets went out to the public. All tickets went to the special club of the hall and they bought them all.

I don't know if Hammerstein has these things, but for a band such as GNR to be playing a theater, the tix will be gone for both shows immedialtely. Probably within 3-5 minutes all tickets for both shows will be gone. And I really really doubt any floor seats will be put on sale to the public.

I could be wrong, but I am just mentioning this from past experiences with trying to get tickets to theater shows.

Good Luck to all the GNR fans in NYC. Finally AXL is throwing his fan base a bone, and doing something intimate for you guys.

  15. I think you all are underestimating what the majority of fans want and that is the OLD songs! People don't go to see the likes of the Rolling Stones, Motley Crue and Metallica to hear new stuff as their current set lists prove, and the same applies to Guns 'n' Roses. Even if CD is released prior to the Euro shows songs from it will account for the minority of the set. The only question that really matters is can these new guys deliver the goods like the original band did, and we all know the answer to that... NO FUCKING WAY! :fuckyou:

The new band can play the hell out of the old material, I don't know what you're smoking!

None of the bands you mentioned have not provided new material for over a decade and then tried to tour on the old material, (Especially not with an already failed tour, trying to do the same thing, behind them.)

I don't think the majority of fans want the old songs. Sure the old songs are great but I think the majority of hard core fans are past ready for new material and would feel insulted (further) to have a tour without the CD drop first. Les hardcore fans probably just don't care anymore and it would take new material on the radio to get their attention again.

    :fuckyou:

Rolling Stones release a Bigger Bang in 2005

Motley Crue released Generation Swine in 1998 and New Tattoo in 2001 and some new tracks on Red White and Crue in 2005

Metallica released ST Anger in 2003 and the current tour is escape from the Studio which sounds like that they need to get on the road and tour

But all of the above have toured on new material

How many songs did they even play for the new records on those tours. All the bands mentioned only played 2-3 new songs out of a 20+ setlist.

Rattlesnake Suitcase is right. The majority of the crowd wants to hear the old stuff. Sure the diehards want to hear the new stuff, but the percentage of diehards at each show is really small compared to the casual fans.

Axl has to play the 'hits' and the most known old songs. He can play the singles off the new album if it ever gets released, but trust me, if he plays the majority of the setlist only CD material, the crowd will be pissed and he will get bad reviews.

Now with all that said, that is your typical American market. Axl can play whatever he wants in Europe and get away with it. They don't care over there.

IMO, These European shows are just for fun. CD won't be released this year. There will be no USA tour after the European tour. If there is to be a USA tour with no new album, they should start releasing dates now, because they will need all the promotion they can get without a new album.

  16. he has more feeling in his work then slash ever did.

    HAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    HAHAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA

    HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I just pissed my pants from laughing so much. Thank you, that was fucking hilarious.

  17. A reunion would be the worst thing that could ever happen. It's bad enough that Axl has been tarnishing the legacy the last few years. A reunion would completely destroy the legacy. They will become a band that tours state fairs with Quiet Riot and Dokken.

A reunited GNR would be selling out stadium's across the world.

What?? For the first year or so??? Fine. But that's it. Here we come Quiet Riot, Poison, GnR. <_<

That's your problem right there. You lump GNR with Quiet Riot and Poison. If they ever reunite it would be huge. Who knows, they might even record some material also <_< It won't take them 13 years :P Hopefully :o

Uhhhhhhhh no it wouldn't really. <_<

If Axl and his merry band of minions can sell out multiple nights in Europe, a reunited GNR can sell out stadiums.

You really are underestimating what kind of an impact GNR had in the 1990's and how big they were. A reunion tour would be massive and probably one of the biggest tours to happen in the past 10-15 years.

Everyone and their mother would go see the show.

  19. I havent seen slash do what finck does on stage in a long mother fucking time, i honestly dont think he can do it anymore. And i wouldnt call vr a supergroup or even a group at the moment.

Do what? Play the guitar like a 6 month amateur? Finck is a horrible guitarist. Just listen to his solo spots before some of the songs in the 2002 tour. I have never seen so many people laugh at a concert. The dude sucks playing lead, and he is not even a good fit for GNR.

Who would of thought there would be a goth in GNR? LOL Take Me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty I'm sure all the goths party to that song.

What's next? A guy who wears a KFC bucket on his head? :o

  20. As for Slash leaving VR, The article is wrong. There's nothing to back up me saying Slash isn't leaving VR but the one peice of evidance the article gives, that Slash has moved his equipment from the studio is complete bull as VR wont be entering the studio untill April 10th, so basically Slash's equipment wont even be in the studio yet.

Slash has said they have been doing pre-production work already for the album. The recording process is interesting in that the band is already in the studio doing pre-production, but they haven't really 'entered the studio' meaning they haven't started laying down the tracks for the album.

Slash has his own studio "Snakepit Studio", where he stores most of his guitars. I don't know what the statement in the article means, but I wuldn't be surprised if Slash is out of VR. I'd rather see him re-form Snakepit or re-join GNR then stay in VR.
