  1. one of the best albums you've heard in a long time has an afd vibe to it?

have you spent the past decade or so listening to nothing but afd?

Hey, that's the kind of music i still primarily like. Over the past few years I've had my music love affairs with r&b, rock, country, pop, reggae, hip hop, but through all of it, i still dig raw riff driven rock and roll.

And all i said is that it has an AFD vibe to it, its not AFD, its just in that similar mold. A new band, not a whole lot of production money, a guitarist with a gift for great riffs, and a powerful vocalist with catchy lyrics.

  2. Straight from the UK, i just got my copy of Million Dollar Reload's Anthems of a Degeneration. This has got to be one of the best albums I've heard in a long long time. Highlights? The whole damn album is a highlight. It has a very Appetite for Destruction vibe to it, the sound is raw rock and roll. I dont think this lead singer has any intentions on going to VR as he has a great thing going with this band. I would highly suggest that you buy their album off myspace or download it via iTunes. Great stuff!

  3. Axl is the farthest thing from a perfectionist.

And this thread doesn't belong in this forum.

It may or may not belong here, this is a GnR forum, just thought i would pay tribute to another legend of Rock N Roll. But your statement is ludicrous, unless its sarcasm, which i will presume it must be.

  4. Maybe this doesnt belong on this forum. But other than GnR, Boston was one of my favorite bands of all time and i never got to see them in concert. I was planning on going this summer, but now that dream has died. While Tom Schulz was the perfectionist, Brad was the voice behind the legend.

    RIP Brad.

  5. I haven't been around for a little while, what issues exist between Merck and Axl? From the tone of the two "Open Letters" it doesnt look like Merck is going to be around for much longer. As an agent, he has a contract with benefits, and is not work for hire - therefore likely cannot be fired at a moment's notice. However, he doesnt look like hes going to stick around much longer nonetheless.

  6. Still, no promises people. No one has ever said, "listen, rolling stone interviewer, i promise.... i pinky swear the album will be out this year." Saying that the album will be out this year is not a promise, with GNR its a statement of HOPE! Even Ron blogged or wrote an email saying that it should be out this year, if all goes as planned. Well it seems at the moment that all is not going as planned, and thats that. Dont get on Axl's case because of promises when he made none. Personally if they have to redo the whole cd to include ron and frank, take your time, this thing better be perfect when its released. Axl/Merck also said the album was coming out in 2000, then 2001, and 2002. You don't trust GNR with release years.

Now if Axl pinky swore with me that he'd relase the CD this year, that might be a different story.

  7. I see it more over at HTGTH and other forums but, it should be noted that Axl never made any direct promises that the album would come out this year. He simply stated "you will hear music this year." And boy did we ever!!! We had a full Euro Tour, and now a full US Tour, and plenty of leaks and demos that nearly everyone downloaded. Personally, i think this is a banner year for GNR, ive heard more music from GNR this year than i have in the past 15!

I think we should be quite happy. If only we could have warned those poor suckers back in 94 to fast forward to 2006.

  8. Ummmm.... Ron's hair is not that long. Look at the video's of the Euro tour, there is no way that is his real hair, it doesnt grow that fast. Those are extensions at the very least. Does everyone here understand how much hair you need to dreadlock it like that?

P.S. This is not blasting the extensions/wig whatever it is, its fine by me, i just noticed it at the show. Why does everyone always assume that when someone notices something its a bad thing. I dont care what the hell he does, just wanted to point it out.

  9. Is this normal now? I haven't seen anyone mention it on this board... At the show Saturday night in Detroit, Thal was wearing the same outfit as Finck (all black with a long black coat, seemingly made of wool), only without the BRIGHT RED knee high boots, and he had a very long white wig on with dreadlocks. Long enough to bang against the strings while he was playing. Axl actually lifted the fake dreads up and gave the audience a quizzical look while singing. Just wondering if this was the wig's first appearence on tour?

  10. I couldnt find one, but somewhere in the concert section we should have a ticket exchange forum. Members rarely visit each invididual concert page until just before/during the concert. I have 2 tickets in section 126 row B (2nd row off the floor) for this Saturday's show at the Palace. I am now going with a larger group of people so i cant use these seats, as we all want to sit together. Please Email me kylepmac@gmail.com if you are interested. Selling these tickets at face value - $90 per ticket after tickets.com service charge. Thank you. Hopefully this gets moved to the right forum.

  11. I have 2 tix for sale to the show in Detroit, they are in section 126, row B (which is row 2 in reality). I am no going with a group of 5 people and we all want to sit together, so i am trying to sell these tix. I bought these via presale. Face Value of each ticket is $90 after tickets.com service charge. Email me kylepmac@gmail.com

  12. Nov. 21 makes perfect sense, it markets itself. Do i smell a GNR/Jay-Z joint promotion collaboration? Maybe not, but if i had an album i would put it out on the 21st. Jay-Z's record is going to sell a ton of copies in the first day let alone the first week. And since people are going to be going to the record store/visiting iTunes anyway on that day - why not release Chinese Democracy. I will be buying Jay-Z's new album, now i don't have to make 2 trips, kill 2 birds with one stone kind of day. Let Jay-Z do the promotion for GN'R. They've already spent enough money on the album, try and save a little on promotion (seems to be working at the concerts for the most part).

  13. That list is complete BS... Kenny Chesney had the highest grossing tour of the year and Rascal Flatts came in at a close second. Does this list only count rock shows?

Edit: my bad, this was from memory, the rolling stones had the highest grossing tour.

  14. "True, get Ron or Rich to use one of those voice box things Slash used to use in the illusion days and it would be a fucking KILLER intro."

Wow, if Ron used a talkbox that would be an amazing intro... think Sweet Emotion.
