  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW1m0iy13T0 - Better

    - The Blues

    - Madagascar

It says that these shows were recorded October 13... they still have a guy dressed up like Buckethead in the band, that needs to change. The band itself needs some improvement (but hey, you cant expect them to be as good as the real guys), but that is the best axl impersonation i have ever heard. I mean, i cant tell the difference. I think it helps his cause that the sound quality is absolute crap. But this is unbelievable. Especially considering the album itself isn't out yet, let alone any tabs.

It does scare me that "Axl" has all the same tatoos and hair style.

  2. Go listen to Rock AM WTTJ (this has one of the best opening screams ive ever heard), then go listen to Nighttrain from Rock AM (i believe the last song before the encore). He is literally dead on balls accurate, maybe better than i have ever heard him live on Jungle. Then he struggles a bit with Nighttrain. He still sounds really good on Nighttrain, but its apparent that he cannot hit every single note, and doesnt even go for the high "ridin the Nighttrain.. never to retuuururururururn" haha).

Wow, i have never listened to his performances early in the concert, i always have been listening to songs later in most of his setlists (better, nighttrain, sweet child, IRS, paradise city). Brownstone also sounds great nearly everytime, another song he usually does very early in his concerts. It looks like he starts to lose a little bit of rasp around the time of "You Could Be Mine" (song 8). He does sound really good on IRS at Rock AM, so that may blow a hole in my argument. But I think its clear that if he started with Nighttrain, Better, Paradise City (would never happen) or YCBM, those songs would sound a lot better.

I know that generally any performer's voice will deteriorate over the course of a concert, its just a bit more apparent with Axl because of his singing style and putting so much strain on his voice.

Anyone care to comment who has been to the concerts or has seen Axl in the past, does this have any merit?

  3. I would be really disappointed if they did not play it during the North American Tour, it is in my top 10 favorite GNR songs of all time. From about 3:30 on that thing just rocks. Could anyone direct me where to go for the setlists for the concerts that have been played so far, nothing in the concerts section of this site.

Also, as i have never been to a GNR concert before (going to Detroit), does Axl tend to follow a fixed setlist or does he play whatever he feels like. I know during the Illusions tour he played bad obsession a few times, but not at every concert (he did this with a few other songs as well). Most bands nowadays will play the same set for an entire tour, do you think axl will do this as well? Thank you.

  4. who is better and for what type of music. I assume for pure shredding you have to give the nod to buckethead, but what about musical creativity/improvisation, or playing with emotion? I dont know how they came up with the solos/harmony for the new songs (i assume it was a collective effort between Bucket/Finck/Fortus) but it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ron was originally in the mix.

Also, what's Ron's status with the band, is he a full fledged member? Is this a tryout? Is he a lock to eventually make the band, if not someone would need to step in (how many guitar players out there are better than Ron?), this bands entire concept from the illusions on has been built around 3 guitarists.

I'm really happy that he is in the band, he seems the most approachable out of all the members, and seems like a truly great guy.

  5. The Live version is better than the Demo, i just really dont think the song makes a whole lot of sense (i guess to most, many of axls lyrics do not make a lot of sense). As was previously stated many times, its not very catchy - its a good live song though. He is referring to the IRS as the Internal Revenue Service in this song correct? It just doesnt fit.

  6. In The Song Madagascar, When All The Movie Qoutes Come Out, Are They Random Or If You Put Them Together, You Get An Actual Sentence?

Kevin, your sig ROCKS! Go Blue!

  7. Well any hardcore GNR fan is going to tell me to F-off (so this is probably not the best arena to bring this up), but ive played it for the 4 other guys going to the GNR concert with me in Detroit (they dont like GNR enough to go on messageboards, lets put it at that) and none of them liked IRS and they all liked both Better and TWAT a lot. So i guess its 5 people's opinions, still not many i conceed that. Just looking to see if other agree.

I just don't like it, I don't think its very catchy, I think its the weakest of all the leaks we have heard. Now i like the song Bad Apples, but i guess i would put it in that category of GNR songs. A song that looks to be a single, but which won't catch on very well with the public. I know most of you have the attitude of F the public, but i think the first single is crucial to the album's success (that being said i have no idea if it will be the first single). I really think that a song in the mold of sweet child, paradise city, WTTJ, November Rain.... etc needs to be the first single. IRS could be a single, just not the first. If I was not a huge GNR fan and I heard it on the radio i would think 13 years for this???? Whereas if i heard Better or TWAT... even madagascar or the blues, i would think much more of the album as a whole. Maybe this is because i really dont understand the song (ive listened to it 1000 times but cant get the feel for it). Maybe if someone explained the underlying meaning of the song i would like it more, but i i still dont think its catchy enough for the public to latch on.

-I was trying to write this from the persepctive of a GNR fan, but not hardcore fan if you know what i mean.

    I don't like pancake nipples...

I was trying to write that from a boob fan perspective but not a hard core perve if you know what I mean

Guess you don't know what i mean.

  9. IM GOING TO GNR!!!!!!!!!!! Been waiting at least 10 years for this, had a football game the last time they came to Detroit (actually im not sure they ever made it to Detroit). I sat on the floor for the rolling stones concert at Ford Field and i could not see over the two 6'6 guys in front of me, so i opted for seats in section 126 Row DD (4th row). There are already 3 reserved seating sections that have sold out on the website, and a seat auction at $90 a piece starts tomorrow (this is what pushed me to buy the tix now through the website). If i would have acted faster i could have had closer seats, but i sat upper deck at Van Halen and those werent bad.

  10. Sorry for not knowing, but how does General Admission work at these shows (specifically the palace)? First come first serve? Where is the best place to get a good view (if you are stuck behind someone real tall in gen admission, you're screwed i assume)?

  11. You don't know who Scott Weiland is..... i'm sure you're joking, but don't pretend not to know one of the greatest lead men of the 90s, and now of 2004 and beyond.

Also, as MetaSoul said, Slash wrote that entire intro for SCOM - it was simply a warmup/training technique that he would do while getting ready to play - he thought it sounded like circus music. Basically, he fucked around on the guitar and came up with one of the most memorable riffs in rock history. Go to guitar center and sit there for a half hour, you'll probably hear newbies trying to play that intro every 10 minutes.

Also, it was Izzy and not Axl who wrote maybe one of the most recognized rock choruses in history with "take me down to the paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty" take Izzy out of the picture and take slash out with the intro and solos, with those verses, that song never sees the light of day on any album.

  12. There have been rumors circulating that there is going to be a huge announcement of an 80s band getting back together

Just wanted to let everyone know that if they hear about this on the radio, the band being referred to is The Cars, NOT Guns N' Roses.

    http://www.musicremedy.com/audio/4933

I don't know if this is the proper place for this news, but i just wanted to preempt any crazy posts we may get about this in the near future.

  13. Song is fucked up.. trying to think of a past GnR song that is so ..... fucked up. Vintage Axl if you ask me. I definetly do NOT believe that this has any potential to be a single. In our current society i dont know how i'd feel about this song being played over the radio. I think its more fucked up than Used to Love her, because at least that was a silly song, this sounds quite serious. Obviously its not Axl talking about himself, but still - its a good song to have on the CD, but not for radio.

  14. Holy fuck people stop posting this radio talk bull shit! Wait for something officail damn it!

Isn't that what this board is all about, if i wanted an official word, i would never come to this board. I want the inside scoop, the rumours, its like being an ESPN Insider... only better. Stuff like this gets me excited, so that when i hear the official announcement i can say - yeah, i already knew that.

Someone who lives in Boston and can listen to the station, go to www.WAAF.com and shoot them an email about the truth of this rumour!

  15. "Photograph"?..... you've got to be kidding me... surely he isn't referring to Photograph by Nickelback. If so, then while i do like the fact that axl is getting positive press for once..... this author's story is totally discredited by claiming that "photograph" is a good rock song... Christ. PHOTOGRAPH?!??!?! I've taken pisses that have sounded better than photograph... "Look at this toilet bowl"

He's referring to "Photograph" by Def Leppard. Not Nickelback.

    THANK GOD.
