Mutant Rose
I have always been a fan of dreamy Celtic music, but was pleasently suprised when I heard Celtic/Rock Kiss My Irish Ass and found out it was by Flogging Molly. Would anyone suggest an album? (oops CD my age showing again) Also are there any other groups that have mixed these genres?
shades
Dropkick Murphys
Gash
I would second Shades' suggestion and add the Pogues. The latter of which both those Molly and Murphys owe a lot too. Dubliners are also a good band if you like that sort of thing but less rock more celt. Flogging Molly were one of the best bands I've seen live. A lot of fun. FunkyMonk
Dropkick MurphysDefinitely! If you are just getting into Flogging Molly check out Swagger, they just get everything right on that album IMO. I like Dropkick Murphys a lot more than Flogging Molly, but they are still a great band. Also check out Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose (I ALWAYS plug this album ), I have a feeling you might like them, even though they aren't Irish or anything...but it's a brilliant album. HuskerTornado
Glyder, The Chaos Emerald, and Celtic Legacy are better Irish bands. Edited December 5, 2007 by HuskerTornado
DopeSickGirl
Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys are equally good!I'd recommend Swagger and Drunken Lullabies by FM and Blackout and Do or Die by DKM.There's a kickass cover of The Fields of Athenrye by DKM on Blackout.I know DKM are utterly amazing live though I've never managed to see FM but I'm weilling to bet they're just as good The Dubliners and The Pogues are always a good bet aswell. Paddy Reilly aswell.xDSGxEDIT: How did you incorporate Against Me! into this? Excellent band but a wee bit different to Flogging Molly and The Murphys haha! Sink, FLorida, Sink is another good offering from Against Me! =]] Edited December 5, 2007 by DopeSickGirl
FunkyMonk
How did you incorporate Against Me! into this? I incorporate them into everything , without reason or logic. Too few people listen to them .
chicagocoma13
The lead singer from Flogging Molly (Dave King) was the lead singer form a 80's metal band called Fastway. They had two really good albums. Their S/T debut and All fired Up. The band was formed by Moterhead quitarist Fast Eddie Clarke from Moterhead. Pete Way (UFO) was a founding member and supposed to be in the band but left and they kept his name in the band's name. They sound like heavy Zeppelin. All Fired Up is one of my favorite album from the 80's.
