Gash
Anyone heard his album "Dusty Foot Philosopher"?Really enjoying it at the moment. He's a rapper who grew up in the anarchy of Somalia and it's warlord society before his family managed to move to Harlem so as a result of this it's a good blend of hip hop and african music with the lyrical content focused on his homelands problems and what he experienced growing up. Recommend it especially to anyone that's put off by a lot of the materialistic lyrics in modern hip hop (as Knaan put it himself on a live version of What's Hardcore, "If I rapped about home and I got descriptive, I'd make 50 Cent look like Limp Bizkit.) pain cake
I've been delving alot into political rap (Dead Prez, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Perceptionists, early OutKast etc.) And that sounds really cool, as long as it's not pretentious refugee shit like Wycleaf Jean, I'm sure I'll like it
