slash_demigod Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 I've been listening to Yngwie's stuff, and I must say, he is fucking awesome.I've got a classical background because of piano, and when I saw the electric guitar fused with a neo-classical sound that he made famous, I almost orgasmed. Most of his playing is really just "shredding" where he plays at the speed of light, which means that he leaves out slower and deeper songs. This can get repetitive after a while, and a lot of people tend to brand him as just "wanking" on the guitar but he's still awesome.Check him out if you're into Eddie Van Halen style licks and passages, but expect that classical edge which I personally really love. SofaKingWhat Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 i think he is great. Yeah liek you said he mostly just shreds his guitar, but has a few goods songs, and is great playing classical riffs.Very under rated guitarist. Quote
Raas Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 His debut album is a masterpiece. The second too. Quote
Lawzy Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Great guitarist, some great stuff. A lot of his stuff is very similar though. Quote
Wreckless_Life Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 That classic sounding shit that he does is a copy of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore. Quote
Lawzy Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 (edited) Having said that, yeah, he doesn't compare to Blackmore, that man is awesome! Machine Head is absolutely amazing! Edited November 24, 2004 by Lawzy Quote
slash_demigod Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 That classic sounding shit that he does is a copy of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore. Yeah but Blackmore was one of his biggest influences. So thats the reason. Quote
