Hardest Metallica Song

Recommended Posts

What is the hardest Metallica song to play on drums? My friend might be playing drums for us when we play Battery in front of school. So if he learned Battery (I think Lars uses double-bass) could he learn any other Metallica song because they wouldn't be as hard as Battery?

I would say that anything off of the And Justice For All album would be tough. But don't take my opinion seriously; I'm not a drummer. The songs on that album are all written in different time signatures from the rest of Metallica's songs, and the drum beats follow the guitar lines more than they are actual beats. Plus, there are tons of tempo changes on that album.

most things on St. Anger would be hard on drums......St. Anger is the drumming album, because everyone said he(lars) had gone pussy with his drumming...so he stepped St. Anger up a notch

yeah! i know a really good drummer who told me st anger is actually a pretty challenging album for drums regardless of the sound, he said lars really tried different things in it , so it's basically a more drummer album than guitars obviously

Ye Blackened would seem to be a tricky one.

Also, is it just me or can people notice Lars can get over excited when playing live and plays off time alot? Watch MTV:Icon, the Battery outro to their medley...i know its meant to be syncopated but its like way off.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Lars also has a bad habit of over-using the China crash. Most of the time, he uses it sparingly, which is good. But live, I've seen him go to town on the thing, which can be a bit too much.
