Micks
Well i hope that's only true for U2 cause i like to think that most of the other bands were doing it very raw and without too many effects.
Guest Ohdistortedsmile1789
I need to do this shit for school about 80's rock what was characteristic for the sound of the 80's rock. So can you people help me out? It's mainly about bands like REM, U2,Queen, Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses. You can say these things about all these bands1. REM - Used classic pop-rock songs and alternative themes and were one of the earlier successes in doing so.2. U2 - You could say that U2's music was socially concious during a very conservative time, and would influence later bands.3. Queen - You could say that Queen's theatricality and detailed multi-tracking influenced other "over the top" groups of the 80's and later.4. Bon Jovi - You could say that Bon Jovi made an originally underground type sound popular, which would be the norm from then on.5. Guns N' Roses - You could say GNR brought back sounds from the past and washed out posers like ^ I doubt that helps any but they are ideas atleast. Bucketslash
realistically, queen disappeared from mainstream in the us,go with quiet riot, they started a HUGE trend....don't take this the wrong way, i love queen, but queen dissappeared in the 80's, and thats when hair metal hitalso you missed metallica, heavy metal....u2 were more new wave-ish,(not exactly new wave, but close for that time)
johnezz
Well, firstly you have the most important and influentual band of 80's pop/rock.Van HalenThey alone created that genre, and were the best of that genre too. Also there was a huge underground following of 3 different types of Metal.. American Thrash Metal - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth etcNew Wave British Heavy Metal - Judas Priest, Iron MaidenAnd of course in Europe there was a rise in Death Metal.
