I generally have a good ear and can figure them out on my own, but sometimes I need to read 'em and I'd rather know for sure what they are instead of trying to look them up online and see what someone else thinks the lyrics are. I also hope for some pictures along with the lyrics... I have high expectations for booklets. The worst is when there is no booklet, just a flimsy little insert. Like many have said I can pick them up, but it's always nice to be able to read them. Being able to read them while listening adds another dimension to the music in my opinion. Sometimes it's because the lyrics may be very personal to the writer. And sometimes it's because the band doesn't want the listener to know the lyrics.
