Alty Posted April 1, 2006 Share Posted April 1, 2006 Do you think I should learn scales and that kind of shit or just start with songs??yes i think you should learn scales at some point especially if you plan on making your own music because if you plan on playing a solo they will be extremely helpful. theyll also help speed your playing up and help you learn the notes on the neck which will then come in handy when you get to forming chords.dont get too caught up in technical stuff though like sitting playing scales and forming chords all the time because its not so interesting. try to do both that and songs, like ive learnt techniques by learning songs.hopefully youve worked out how to read tabs, id take it song at a time and break it down into sections of only a few notes and learn it through that way..itll take time but youll feel great when you can pick up your guitar and play it without even thinking about it. i think its handy to learn every note on the neck, very handy and theres a pattern to it so its not difficult, youll pick it up.learn the "rules" so you can break them Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
