I was sitting here last night, and I recorded a sexy beast of a version of Led Zep's The Rover and I was generally on form, today I'm a bit all over the place. I've only been playing a few months now but I have days when I'm really creative and on the mark but other days when I'm playing the same licks over and over again and seemingly lacking my usual musical talent. Quite annoying.

Thanks, I think it might be cos I've taught myself everything I know from tabs and that so I'm sort of stuck as to what to do now. I didn't just wanna be a cover guitarist I wanted to play my own stuff so I've learn some scales and chord progressions and that sort of thing although some days I guess I just feel a bit stuck what to do. I'm back on form today though :shades:

buy a metronome.

Practise with it.

Learn the modes (dorian, lydian etc.)

Try to work on ear training.

I did these, my playing skyrocketed.

You probably have different inspirations in different places, become a drug addict then you always in the same place and you can tell cool stories, and you can write sweet material, or so I hear.
