Try Boston, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Foreigner (maybe), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nazareth (where Axl gets his rasp), Saxon (maybe, they are metal so they're heavier but I think Alice Cooper influenced them), ZZ Top.

I second Boston and Nazareth!! I love Boston's guitar work. Makes me hyper.

THIN LIZZY

Personally my second favorite 70's rock band after Aerosmith.

I saw the Thin Lizzy album Whiskey In The Jar in my record store today. I was thinking of buying it but didn't as I wasn't sure if it was a good album to buy. Is it? If it is then I'll go and buy it :)

I say start with Black Rose.

To Yami - also Thin Lizzy if you're not already into them.

gnrrulz's list is pretty good, minus Oasis....they're alright like but....hmm

If you like great riffs like Zeppelin, try some Black Sabbath (also if you aren't already into them)

Motorhead. And you should check out some songs that Motorhead did with Girlschool eg. Please Don't Touch

Black Sabbath is one of my all-time favourite bands, I didn't put them as examples because I don't want people giving me metal bands. I don't really like any metal except for Sabbath and Maiden.

What are cool Thin Lizzy songs?

And more 70's Aerosmith, what are cool songs?

It's good, but I'd start with "Jailbreak", that's a great album.

Cream

Aerosmith

The Who

Oasis has the cocky rock and roll attitude of the 70's(definitely maybe)

The Doors

Black Sabbath

I'm actually a big fan of all of these bands

adnan, could you make me a slightly shorter list with only the definitively best material? 10 songs each or something.

70's aerosmith I have sweet emotion, dream on, walk this way, toys in the attic, back in the saddle

and I know all of their later hits
