For what seems like forever, I have associated myself with anti-war movements that occurred decades before I became politically conscious. John Mayer has now written by far the greatest anti-war song by anyone from his generation. "Waiting on the World to Change" is a musical reply to all the angry rednecks I encounter who claim I'm wasting my time and don't stand for anything at all. It is an absolute masterpiece, sampling lite funk, blue-eyed soul, west-coast jazz, and blues, all while keeping to a short, sweet pop-rock format. Mayer has crafted an instant clasic.
