Streetchild
Man, I love Nick Cave. He is such an awesome songwriter, and a great live performer too. This is one of his most beautifull songs, although I prefer Nobody's baby nowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh9Q954OW2Q (I couldn't find a real video)
Dead Flower
straight to you, deanna and the mercy seat especially. his voice is unique, his talent profound! love him.Great clip on youtube where he talks a bit about that song and then puts on the most kickass performance. Link What an awesome song - the frantic tempo at the end captures the theme of the song perfectly. This is one of his most beautifull songs, although I prefer Nobody's baby nowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh9Q954OW2Q (I couldn't find a real video)Ha, that video is kinda cool. Great song from a great album. is probably my favourite Nick Cave song, and watching the band dance in this video clip is perhaps the most awesome thing ever. Red Right Hand is great, too. I read somewhere that Nick improvised most of the lyrics to that song when he recorded it. If that's true, it just blows my mind.Another favourite from that album is Thirsty Dog. One of his most underrated songs, imo. He sounds so insincere evertime he says the word "sorry". Awesome lyrics, as always..."I'm sorry about the hospitalSome things are unforgivableThat things simply cannot be forgivenI was not equipped to know how to careAnd on the occassions I came up for airI saw my life and wonderedwhat the hell I had been living""I'm sorry about all your friendsI hope they'll speak to me againI said before I'd pay for all the damagesI'm sorry it's just rotten luckI'm sorry I've forgotten how to fuckIt's just that I think my heartand soul are kind of famished" Edited April 21, 2007 by Dead Flower
Streetchild
Yeah, the Mercy Seat is one of my favourite songs ever. Especially the live versions. I love how the intensity builds up towards the end. There's also a great version of this song on the "The road to God knows where" DVD. Johnny Cash did a pretty cool cover of this song too.The ship song, the weeping song, Tupelo, Deanna, He has so many amazing songs. From his later work I love "There She Goes, My Beautiful World". I love the lyrics:John Willmot penned his poetryriddled with the poxNabakov wrote on index cards,at a lectem, in his socksSt. John of the Cross did his best stuffimprisoned in a boxAnd JohnnyThunders was half alivewhen he wrote Chinese RocksWell, me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my earsMe, I'm lying here, with nothing in my earsMe, I'm lying here, for what seems yearsI'm just lying on my bed with nothing in my headSend that stuff on down to meSend that stuff on down to meSend that stuff on down to meSend that stuff on down to meThere she goes, my beautiful worldThere she goes, my beautiful worldThere she goes, my beautiful worldThere she goes again And the background singers sound great in that song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1fzqtTV2EE
Nightrain_Kid
Nick's definitely one of the greatest lyricists ever and The bad seeds kick major ass, probaly one of my favourite bands. The already forementioned Nobody's baby now and The ship song are both beautiful, i really love Green eyes at the moment
Morten..
I only have their best of and The Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus, so far.I love the music and the lyrics, plan on buying more albums with them soon..
Dead Flower
I love the music and the lyrics, plan on buying more albums with them soon..Let Love In, The Boatman's Call & Murder Ballads are the three I'd get first.Murder Ballads is so fucking cool. Nick is such a masterful storyteller ... each song is like it's own little short story - some scary, some hilarious, some scary and hilarious at the same time.Where The Wild Roses Grow - The famous duet with Kylie Minogue. This song is superb, and proves that Kylie can actually sing. I love how Nick and Kylie each sing their own version to the same tale. - Duet with PJ Harvey. Brilliant.Stagger Lee, More Stagger Lee! - Such a cool song. The word 'motherfucker' has never sounded so good. "I'll crawl over fifty good pussies just to get one fat boy's asshole" The Curse of Millhaven is also hilarious. Such upbeat music that contrasts so well with Cave's lunatic singing about a 15yr old serial killer. Genius.

Johnacide27
Mr. Cave is the best singer/songwriter out there, since 1974, his music has been different class. It is a pity that more people don't look beyond his most popular tracks like Red Right Hand, Mercy Seat, Wild Rose etc. and check out his albums. Dead Flower
I'm fairly certain 'Boatman's Call' is perfect.(Are You) The One That I've Been Waiting For?, Idiot Prayer, Where Do We Go Now but Nowhere?, West Country Girl, Lime Tree Arbour, Black Hair, Into My Arms.None of them miss the mark.
