Jermain Taylor ordered to undergo a mental evaluation: http://deadspin.com/boxer-jermain-taylor-ordered-to-undergo-mental-evaluati-1682067117?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
He's had a strange/rough five months or so. Shooting his cousin, then recently, apparently pulling a out a gun and threatening to shoot a family at a parade. Don't know how much the brain injury could be involved, since it's been four or five years and all of this has only happened recently. Either way, it sounds like he needs some help.

Also, if Germany and Ukraine etc don't matter then what the fuck makes England matter? it'd be interesting to get a yank take on this, come on yanks, Wlad Klitschko, how recognisable do you reckon he is round your ways?
Certainly not as recognizable as Mayweather or Pacquiao. Though, of course, those two have fought nearly all of their fights in the U.S. for the last 15 years, and Pacquiao has the bonus of more endorsement deals and TV talk show appearances here. Klitschko doesn't have either of those things in the U.S., so I'd doubt he'd get recognized much, if at all, outside of say New York or Las Vegas (and, even in those two places, probably not that much by non-boxing fans). I would think most people would know who Mayweather or Pacquiao were though--Mayweather more than Pacquiao. He's not at the LeBron, Kobe, Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter, Jordan (even retired, he's still probably the most recognizable athlete here) level, but I would venture to say he's still, at the very least, top 15-20 as a conservative guess. I mean, you don't become the highest paid athlete in the world without people knowing who you are.
Side note: I'll admit I had to google Ronnie O'Sullivan...snooker isn't exactly a mainstream sport over here.

I can't wait for the PBC to air. I hope they bring back some legends each fight night for pre and post fight analysis. Hell, even current fighters...
Yeah, didn't see who the announcers will be for the Spike TV cards, but the Al Michaels/Sugar Ray Leonard sounds really good for NBC.
Nothing new, except Arum reiterating that it's up to Mayweather:
-
How weird is it going to be seeing Ichiro in a Marlins uniform?
-
Haymon officially announced his deal with Spike TV--33 Friday night cards over the next three years. The first card on March 13 will feature Andre Berto vs. Josesito Lopez and Shawn Porter vs. Roberto Garcia.
Completely forgot that Alvarado-Rios is tomorrow night. Predictions?

Showtime executive:

Well, that doesn't sound good.
Another tweet by Pacquiao calling him out:
And, Arum is apparently frustrated:
"We finished talking, nobody has come to us and said, 'OK.' I mean, we've finished, they've asked us to agree to this, agree to that. We agreed to everything," stated Arum, who sounded a bit frustrated.
"When you agree to everything, then you wait for confirmation that the other side is in. We assumed all along that they were in. Otherwise, why are they f***ing with us?"

Klitschko-Bryant Jennings is official for April 25 at Madison Square Garden.

The Football Manager and Out of the Park Baseball series are probably my favorite two now. Used to play Civilization 3 and Civil War Generals 2 a lot before them.
On Xbox, I've always played the FIFA and NBA 2k series the most. The two Godfather games were favorites, too.

That's a bit disappointing.

Southampton got away with a handball there in stoppage time. Should have been a clear penalty for Newcastle.

I like Broner, but...he's a cunt
We all understand Ronnie
Didn't he tell Jay Z to go fuck himself and also that Rihanna was only good for steady pumpin'...before apologising hours later
Haha, yeah, but Jay-Z obviously low balled him with that promotion offer. I mean, Broner's about billions, not some measly eight figure contract that was probably fairly valued...
Khan's right on point...Floyd needs to step up and give the people what they truly want. He better not duck Khan to fight some bum like Pacquiao.
And, with the Don King talk, here he is discussing how he's going to try to get Tyson to make a comeback: http://www.badlefthook.com/2015/1/14/7548263/don-king-wants-mike-tyson-to-fight-bermane-stiverne
Not sure who is the most delusional: Broner comparing himself to LeBron, Khan setting a deadline for Mayweather amidst all of the Pacquiao news, or King wanting to get Tyson back in the ring.

I like Broner, but...

Saw King on an ESPN card last year. No clue who he was promoting though. He's Stiverne's promoter. Though, honestly, I just learned that yesterday on Twitter. About the only two times I've seen/heard about him recently.
-
Just saw the website for the series: http://www.premierboxingchampions.com/
Think it's a pretty good start for a non-premium channel card. Hopefully, Haymon keeps this type of quality up for this series. Chance for some of these fighters to gain even more exposure than they have gotten on HBO/Showtime, if the prime time NBC cards are a success. Apparently, Haymon is working on a deal with Spike TV, too. Would guess no names like Thurman, Garcia, Broner, etc. on those cards, but could be a chance to see some of his prospects that he has for the future.
So, we're just waiting on Mayweather then? Let's make this happen.
-
Wilder Stiverne predictions lads? Whispers are Wilders could be getting exposed.
Should be a good test, but I don't know, finding it tough to pick against Wilder. Wouldn't be surprised if Stiverne won though. You?
Looks like Pacquiao-Mayweather is getting closer each day. Hopefully, we do get an official announcement by the end of this month. Would expect Mayweather to win a defensive-minded decision, but obviously still really want it to happen and looking forward to it.
Al Haymon has announced the first two cards of his new NBC boxing series. First card on March 7 will feature Thurman-Guerrero and Broner-John Molina. Then, Danny Garcia-Peterson on April 11. Al Michaels will call the prime time NBC fights. Sugar Ray Leonard also on commentary as an analyst. 20 total cards this year, 11 on NBC (rest on NBC Sports Network), and 5 of those in prime time. Sounds like a pretty solid start for this NBC deal.

Pacquiao saying that he expects an announcement by the end of the month: http://www.badlefthook.com/2015/1/12/7531137/pacquiao-expects-may-pac-announcement-by-months-end
We'll see, but sounds like things are looking good.
Also, Matthysse and Provodnikov are discussing a possible matchup. That would be a fun one to watch.
-
Inter sign Shaqiri and get Podolski on loan, on top of stealing a point at Juventus and a nice win over Genoa. I'm liking this start to 2015.

That was a fun field goal sequence to watch with Chancellor jumping over the line on consecutive plays.

Looks like Oakland is getting Zobrist and Escobar from the Raya for Jaso and a couple of prospects.

That's a fun one to watch. Greatest entrance, too. Dancing behind a screen for five minutes, then taking another five to get to the ring, all while Kelley's yelling at him from the ring. Disrespectful, but just really funny that someone could be so full of themselves to just dance for so long, then stand on the walkway for another minute, before finally dancing down to the ring, all while keeping their opponent and everyone there waiting.
