  1. So I'm a big Mount and Blade player and there was a mod called cRPG for it which i played a ton of and the developers of the mod have moved onto an entirely new game called Of Kings And Men. The game is a multiplayer only medieval combat game, vaguely similar to Mount and Blade but with a different combat system and eventually a far more complex overworld - it's aiming for fully open world MMO style but at the moment the focus is getting the combat down. It's going to be shown live at Gamescom tomorrow and because of this there's an open beta until the early access for the game starts on the 25th of August. If you guys are interested in playing it the launcher is here:  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30551702/OKAMLauncher/OKAMLauncher.exe and the username and password are both "crpg"

This lets you play the beta test for it for free and you're not obliged to buy the game at all, the devs just want as many people to get it as possible so give it a try!

  2. Just now, DieselDaisy said:

Well the three goals he got were vital, and at least two of them were top-draw - and have made the BBC poll of top goals.

That's still 3 goals scored in 2 games where he's been pretty anonymous in the others. I'm not saying he wasn't good at all, I'm saying he wasn't good in a lot of the games.

To be fair that's been him all year. Look at his Champions League stats: 16 goals in 12 games but only scored in 5 (if I remember correctly) games.

It does offer up an interesting juxtaposition, doesn't it? Messi ignominiously quitting after a fourth final defeat, Ronaldo winning that.

Messi being one of the players of the tournament, loses. Ronaldo being mediocre, wins.

    Let the pointless arguing commence.

  4. I've heard of it a lot. The problem is when a critic site like IGN says bad things about a popular game it can make people stop visiting the site if they like it and therefore the site loses money. The developers might not even have anything to do with it but it's almost a lose-lose situation for them.

This is a perfect example, bunch of guys bitching at another critic for not liking the game while they all play with their £120 collectors edition stuff which they doubtless got for free.

  5. I actually liked Fallout 3 more than New Vegas but I think that's largely because I put 300+ hours into 3 and moved straight over to New Vegas which had a really terrible launch where bugs were concerned so that plus the playing time burnt me out I think. I also found the Mojave wasteland pretty boring whereas I really liked DC. Mechanically New Vegas was a lot better though.

I think the best comparison is between Skyrim and Oblivion. Oblivion had lots of things taken out to make it more accessible, spell crafting and the weird levelling system where you had to sleep and pick a specific stat to boost. These were a bit crap so they got taken out. This allowed Skyrim to be a slicker experience but unfortunately had nothing like the more interesting quests of Oblivion. Fallout 4 has gone a step further in getting rid of a lot of the cooler perks, now theres just do more damage, find more money, get access to better equipment, there's also interesting quests like Tranquility Lane. They also ditched the named weapons which were so great to find, now there's "unique" weapons that are the same but with a specific special ability, but there's so many it doesn't matter any more.

  6. By the press yeah sure, but it's sitting at 5.5 for PC and 6.5 for consoles on Metacritic from user scores. RPG elements are dumbed down, shooting is solid, location is dull, quests are completely unmemorable, everyone is a bullet sponge to ridiculous levels, the base building is OK but kind of pointless, I like the gun customisation, there are so fucking many copy paste quests it hurts.

It's a paint by numbers RPG with some shooting, if it didn't have Fallout written on it nobody would care. It's soulless.

  7. I really wish I had a PC just for gaming.

I really want to play GTA V and Witcher 3 full-spec.

if you can save up and buy a mid range that would be the best bet, a mid range will run 450- 500 dollars but you will still get better performance than a xbox one or ps4, and you can upgrade as you see fit.

I wouldn't even bother at that kind of money. Better off spending $800 and getting something more modern, you can still upgrade later. Thing with PCs is they tend to have a high initial cost but upgrading them after 5 years often isn't that expensive.

I have a bit of a heat issue with my PC since the case is mATX and has shit airflow because I made the mistake of getting a Corsair H105 cooler for my CPU. Switching to a Noctua NH-C14s which means I can get rid of the H105's radiator so there will be 2 more intake fans cooling everything else down. CPU will take a small hit temperature wise but the GPU and motherboard temps should get a lot better which was the problem.

  8. I work in IT and we're almost entirely Windows based, we have 4 iMacs which are 2-3 years old and there's something wrong with them every week. It's painful.

Got so bad we replaced 2 of them with the 5k iMacs and both of them got problems same week. It's calmed down a bit now but it always makes me laugh when people say "they just work". Sure a lot of the time they do, but if there's even the tiniest issue good luck fixing it.

    Oh and their error messages...

    Photoshop has had an error.

    Great, what fucking error?

  9. Another thing to consider is for Argentina nobody knows what they're doing. They've got some fantastic attacking players but when it came down to it they bottled it. Messi had two decent tournaments but Di Maria and Higuain especially bottled all the major opportunities. It was like Messi would've gad to pass to himself to score. He was either not getting the ball in attacking positions or the attacking players he was giving the ball to weren't doing anything with it. Even Aguero was shit in the WC Final.

  10. To be fair settings like that in AAA titles have been getting less and less common except I guess battlefield which has an abundance of settings for PCs. Funny when you think way back in 1999 Operation Flashpoint had all kinds of draw distance settings, i'd have thought as things advanced it would get more customisable not less.
