Yes I have a studio version of Absurd on the CD/EP
-
And also the spotify sightings of the General leading to GNR makes me wonder that before also Soul monster has been one of the titles that has brought up GNR together with Atlas
-
Wonder which is the b-side to Atlas - coming this christmas (perhaps)
-
in two months the General will be considered!

With The General announced as the b-side, I think it's safe to say no new album is coming. Best case scenario is Atlas+Soul Monster in 2024.
And that's it, I think. Unless they actually do the unthinkable and record actual new music.
Or the single Perhaps/the General is a build-up to an album.
We might get another two tracks in a couple of months (while at the same period is finishing up more tracks, newly written?)
Atlas and Soul Monster next??

Might be they started to work on this in 94-95 and indeed was written together then, sounds very UYI like

Atlas is goood!
my ranking of new songs (including demos with lyrics)
Perhaps
Atlas
HardSkool
State of grace (has possibility to be better than all three with a more fleshed out sound, more guitar and solo plus redone vocals in the first verses. Vocals at the end some of Axls best ever)Goin Down
Absurd
Eye on you (totally overrated)
Nothing (cannot see this one being a complete song)

I gotta say, it was pretty cool to be standing by waiting for the premiere on live radio. We don’t really get to experience shit like that anymore. Like the old days when there’d be a world premiere of a song on radio or video on MTV.
Had the band actually promoted this, it would have tugged on a lot of people’s heartstrings with nostalgia. Lame they didn’t say a fuckin’ word.
I guess there will be more promotion some time soon.
When Extreme released Rise earlier in the year, the video was not ready to go until a couple of days and no news by the band at the time the single was streaming

I'm very happy they took the "save me" out as it was incredibly cringe lol.
It was cool, but the chorus maybe was too crowded.
Like the new deep vocal
-
I wish the strings/synths were more audible in the chorus, minor complaints.
Fortus is in there, but buried under Slash
-
Is it just Slash? Cannot hear Fortus there, the nice harmony guitars from demo is switched with more piano?
I feel a bit sorry for him if hes not on it

This is not a b-side folks! Its one of the better songs they have recorded and has a nice melodic side with maybe a wider commercial appeal. Still not heard it in good quality with headphones, but the song itself is great

If Seven indeed is D tune + circus maximus plus Marco Beltrami orchestration - i hope this is next

How would you feel if the General is almost like Evaders version?

They've soundchecked it 4 times outta like 20+ gigs! Bit of an exaggeration but I'll take your point
....
3 times only in the last week or so. Two times yesterday!
-
Maybe he even sings on more than one track?? Its just him and Stephen Pearcy mentioned as guests in addition to Slash (guitar)
Do Michael Schnenker sing himself?

I saw someone threatening 4tus on Instagram and wrote that they had ripped the song directly from the jukebox and would release/share it if GNR dont release the song on friday
As if 4tus can do something about that....

No countdown as initially planned, no words of a new single from the camp.
I am beginning to think that friday is not the day

Soundcheck now?

Who do we think will play the piano live Axl or Dizzy?
And on the studio version? Sounds like Axls way of playing, but could be Dizzy

Absurd and Perhaps for sure. Hard Skool, I believe, has two different verses though, no? At least some sort of variation in the Absurd verses (other than the timing shift) would have brought a little more to it.
I think one of the issues with Perhaps is it just takes *so long* to get to that chorus. Those verses go on forever. I don't know that another would fix that - though some different lyrics might make it feel different, of course. I also think it's a mistake to 'stop' the song before restarting for the final verse and chorus. There needs to be a better transition there.
I liked those harmony guitars in the second verse of the demo.
Couldnt hear them in the jukebox recording, but migth be that we hear most sounds from just one speaker, I hope there is some additional guitar to the rythm.
Somebody talked about a talkbox sound in the jukebox-version - anybody hear that?
"The General" is officially delayed... but "The General" AND "Monsters" is (unofficially) out of the bag

Do we have any information about song length of the General?
In my mind its at least a 5-6 minute song, is there som length limit to the vinyl single? I saw someone commenting around 6 mins?
