Yeah, this is actually a problem if you ask me. It can´t be possible that Slash is right about there being a march release cause I can´t belive Geffen wouldn´t have announced the release date already if that was the case. It would really be comforting with an official statement on this topic.

Axl did not say that the Queen-like arrangements were why the album has taken so long. He said that it would sound different then what people were used to from Axk because he was trying "something different" which included some "arrangements like Queen" in some of the songs. The reason for it taking so long has always been the process of putting together the new band.

I also think that since it took so long the music has had to be changed too cause taste, styles, trends etc change over time so what was good in Axl´s head when he started on this project may vary big time from what he likes now. We shouldn´t get too worked up about a chronical since chronicals are just subjective opinions and this one, if you ask me, isn´t even surely an opinion this guy has thought through cause as many people in this thread already stated, if he didn´t care he wouldn´t be writing about it. I don´t write about things I don´t care about. And also there´s a somewhat difference between articles and chrinicals. Not saying that articles are per definition more objective but... B)

Good point. I think everyone interested in music is going to care when this album is released. Most people will have an opinion about it cause it really is a big thing whether you like GNR or not.

Who cares about Axl Rose?

So it´s finally time for Axl Rose to put out the album Chinese Demoracy with his pseudo-Guns N´Roses.

It has just taken 13 years (if you don´t count the totally shitty cover album The Spaghetti Incident -that would make it 15 years) to complete it. Over these 13 years the public has just gotten to hear 3 (!!!) small tastes of music. The first one was a song from the End Of Days 1999 movie soundtrack and if it gets on the album it is 7 years old (sounds fairly promising especially since the song sucked rhino...). They also have during their very few live performances played two new songs - one fast rock song and a long ballad, where none of them, according to the reports, was especially good. The starting point for this record is everything but promising.

To the question about why the record has taken so much time Axl replied that it had very complex arrangements, almost as complex as Queens. This forces us to take a look at Queens album releases. If the arrangements are almost as complex as Queens this should mean that Queen needed more time between their albums than Guns N´Roses, right? Queen released 1 album a year since the start to 1984, except for 1974 when they released 2(!) albums, the two mini-master pieces Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. The two longest periods they had between two album releses was between Innuendo 1991 and Made In Heaven 1995, which had to do with the fact that the singer Freddie Mercury died in 1991, so it´s understandable. So if I understand this correct, Axl Rose should´ve been able to put out records more often than Queen, since his arrangements are just almost as complex as theirs. Am I wrong?

The remaining question is how good the new Guns N´Roses record really is? Is there even a way to judge it fairly? What I mean is, what if it really is a masterpiece? What if it, against all odds, really is the worlds best rock album? Can you in that case really say so or do you have to take in account that it took 13 years to complete it? Cause how good a record is you can never justify 13 years. Just the ridiculus time aspect is gonna make it get bad reviews all over the world - there is no chance that Axl Rose can come out of this a winner. Also, there is the question if someone still really cares about a third class Guns N´Roses with just one orginal member and a bunch of has-beens that haven´t had a careeer in at least ten years.

My AFD CD and LP have the lyrics. What pressing do you have where there are no lyrics? Which country is the record made in?

Of course they´re demos. Geffen hasn´t put down all this money for a mix such as this to be the final product. I find it hard to belive someone would think this was the final mix.

And btw 192 is all the bitrate you need on an mp3. Everything over that will only increase the filesize. Your small ears wont hear any diference, it´s all in your mind

I think he can come back. He left cause of the problems between the members of GNR (read AXL) as I understand it and not because of the music. I think that Slash isnt at all afraid to try new things musically. Just look at the difference between Appetite... and UYI. The thing with GNR was the whole band was great together and personally I dont think Axl will pull this one of alone. I dont doubt it will be a good record but I belive that it would´ve been better with more real gunners playing on it.

The question is how come GNR didnt really realease anything of their own after Izzy left? Was he the ingredience that GNR needed?

At least VR finnished their tours.

It probably wasnt the demo of "The Blues" since there are very professional remixes of the live versions of "the blues", "chinese democracy" and "madagascar" out on the net and these are often tagged as demos. In fact they are just, as I said before, remixes of live songs where they intensified the sound of instruments and vocals and erased anything disturbing (as the crowd sound etc). Thats my theory anyway. The remixes are pretty cool though, so if you run in to them check them out.

If you want the demos just use google. You all have the titles of the songs and links are everywhere on the net so do as the rest of the world did and: google it rock1

By the way, its pretty funny that they want us to be quiet about this in a thread about Guns N Roses "Discussion & News" cause wtf could be bigger news than the leaked demos? :xmassrudolph:

I think that the Illusion albums were awsome. Sure, they were hard to handle at first when they came out cause first of all there was so many songs and second the albums where so different compared to Appetite and all the other music being created at the same time. Still, I think that the Illusion albums are amazing and I porbably listen to a Guns song every single day.

We don´t need no petition. Just don´t buy the record. And as far as a new album that´s ready to come out not doing so with a band like Guns N´Roses cause Geffen hesitates that it won´t sell is not that likely to happen.

Fuck the music industry, cause they have in deed been fucking us for a looooooooong time! Now they try to get us with new laws cause they totally missed the internet and download revolution? They have to face the fact that it´s time to rearrange and go with the flow, cause filesharing can´t be stopped. What they must do is come up with a new plan or face the fact that big record labels may not be needed anymore. An idea is to have other products to go with the records, stuff you simply can´t download. That could attract new people to buy stuff. And by the way, where are all these numbers about record sales going down? In this country the record stores are as full as always, and my guess is that people aren´t walking around smelling the records. My bleief is that as long as people can afford a record with an artist they like they will buy it. At least people that bought records before the filesharing was such a big thing. It´s the new generation you need to focus on and trying to get them with laws is just not the right way to go. For me who always liked ecords, filesharing has made me find more artists I like and support. Talk about a marketing revolution. Too bad record companies want to have the cake and eat it too. Can you spell greed?

So, give us a new album, cause I for one won´t buy a GH album.

This thing is just stupid. Of course people will not delete the songs and of course people will keep talking about them. Talk about your free marketing! The songs have been the topic of the week in almost every corner of the WWW and this Merck guy is crying about it? That is just too unreal, it´s not like you are losing any money. It´s rough mixes of demos and one song is not even complete.

What I would like to know is what´s the deal with the two diffrent lengths of the leaked "TWAT"? And how come "Better" is lekaed as first a snippet of a song and then later on a little longer? How can half a demo leak? Maybe it´s all an evil plan from merch himself, a publicity stunt!

Keep sharing music! Aslong as you support the artists in the ways you are able it´s all good! And we all know bands like Guns N´Roses will not be in the poorhouse cause people heard their demos, cause all the fans will run and buy that record as soon as it hits the store no matter what it sounds like and no matter what demos leaked before it´s release. I mean, look at me, I got over 100 Guns records and cassettes. All buyed and payed for legally. I fucking earned the right to hear these demos!
