here's a little interesting thing that a lawyer friend told me. he says you can't trademark/copyright a song TITLE or album TITLE. the lyrics, music, and contents are protected under the copyright, but not the title itself. think about it, i'm sure we could all name several bands that have songs that have the same title, but completely different content. Example: the black crowe's "remedy" and seether's "remedy." so, back a few years ago when the Offspring were stirring the pot and threatening to call their next album Chinese Democracy they could've gotten away with it.

Time to set a few things straight.
Some of the comments towards Lisa have been way beyond respectfull, but Little Lisa should also get a few things straight.Guns N Roses ( her husbands employer ) are a huge part of many peoples lifes. The house she lives in, the cars she drives, the money in her bank has partly been put there by me and millions of other fans so instead of asking for respect maybe the band and thier sound pieces should show us some respect. We have ben patient and to hear her say its just a bit of patience is insulting.
Lisa Reed is not a member of GnR, her husband is, maybe she should remember that.
The whole thing has resulted in some fans feeling like and being treated like criminals-which is a disgrace considering the loyalty and patience we have shown to this band and in perticular her husband and his misleading comments ( maybe not deliberate but still misleading ).
GnR the band, the machine needs to take a long look in the mirror and see how they treat the fans.
I honestly understand the point of this being a mans life work but unlike Lisa and people connected to GnR we get scraps once in a blue moon and more often than not from sources not directly connected to them-Dont be surprised when we snap up those scraps.
Quite possibly the post of the day
AGREED!! rock1

as much as i wouldn't mind seeing a reunion, a big part of me would be pissed if Axl fucked over the guys that have spent the last several years staying loyal and working to help Axl record the album he wants to record.
now , should he decide to do a reunion and then release CD under "The Axl Rose Project" or "The W.A.R. Project" and do a small tour, that'd be cool.

the people i've let hear it liked it. one 16 year old kid i let hear it said "you can tell he's doing some experimental stuff, but you can still hear elements of the GnR sound in there". i thought that pretty much nailed it.

you know, anyone can look up copyrighted material. for instance to see if the copyright has expired or not, or to see who owns a copyright, etc....
so i decided to look some things up, and so far it doesn't look like any of the new stuff is copyrighted yet. this is from the ASCAP office. it lists all the GnR copyrighted material. take a look.
http://www.ascap.com/ace/search.cfm?reques...s_pp=30&start=1
i also looked on the us governments' copyright page and the same things were listed.

I just heard it on 103.5 Mercksabitch in New Jersey.
LMAO!! like anyone is going to turn in their local station for playing songs everyone apparently enjoys hearing.

It's called common courtesy and respect for an artist and his music.
It was one thing for one track to be leaked. In my opinion, one track can create a buzz around a band and an album. But three tracks? That's just mean-spirited and disrespectful.
We're thinking of Axl here -- and the years it has taken him to put these songs together. If you can't understand that, then you're not a fan.
and out of curiousity madison, how many of the 3 tracks have you downloaded? all 3 i'd bet.
i agree that whoever leaked this stuff shouldn't have (unless they were told to do so-which in the world of GnR ANYTHING is possible), but you're no better than any of the rest of us. only difference is, you download the songs and hoard them for yourself- while some others are willing to share. the fact that you downloaded the songs proves that you're no better than the rest of us, and just as starved for some new GnR as the rest of us. so what right do you have to preach about respecting the artist if you d/l the stuff yourself?
i don't mean for this post to be offensive towards you madison and i really hope you don'ty take it that way. i'm sorry if you do.
Dude, I was asked why we agreed to Merck's request not to post the links, and I answered that question. That's the reason we did it -- out of courtesy and respect for Axl. I did not mean to criticize those who want to share. Not at all.
Yes, of course I was anxious to hear the tracks too. I admit it. And I totally understand why the GNR community wishes to share them with each other. We've all waited a long time to hear new music. But we were asked not to post the links here - so we pulled them. That hasn't stopped people from sharing -- it just means we can't post the links.
it's all good

that voice at the beginning sounds like axl. his voice is being ran thru a processor. atleast it sounds that way to me.
based on the 80 seconds that i've heard, i think it has potential to be a single. chances are though that every song on that cd will have the potential to be a single.
-
i think the closest thing we'll ever see to a reunion would be axl, dizzy, duff & slash jammin'. i don't think axl would work with matt again, but who knows. Maybe in 20 years when they're inducted into the RnR HOF.
if waters can reunite for a 1 time performance with pink floyd, then MAYBE in the future GnR can reunite for a 1 time performance as well.

march? nope, don't think so. june is more realistic, but i really think it won't be til november/december. i don't know why, but that's just my thought.
-
im pretty sure its bound to happen eventually.
kinda like with all john lennons unrealesed music they put out recently.
maybe that'll be the record labels next release as an attempt to motivate axl to get chinese democracy finished. like they did with the greatest hits cd.

just found out that 1 of my local radio stations is working on getting buckcherry to come out and do a show. i hope it happens!! i'm ready to see them live again!!
-
i like "a rat like me" best off of swine. i'd really like to hear the original versions of those songs, with jon corabi singing them.

Someone needs to come up with something truly new. Reggae metal anyone?
someone has already done reggae metal. check out a band called Skindred.

rock isn't dead. there are good new blues based rnr bands. you just have to know where to find them. i'd suggest checking out a band called Hurricane Party.
i do agree that there are no real "classics" being turned out these days, atleast it seems that way. but, who thought SCOM would be considered a classic when it came out?
-
definately give backyard babies a listen izzy. check out hurricane party too.

they also had a semi-hit with "cherokee"
europe was actually the first band i ever saw live. they opened for def leppard on a summer leg of leppard's Hysteria tour. Europe was just getting ready to put out their follow up to final countdown, and played 3 songs from it. the rest was from final countdown. i remember that joey tempest just ran all over that stage like a wild man and never got winded. they were pure cheese, but good for their time.

get the priest cd. it rocks. i bought it the week it came out. get the dualdisc version. 1 side is the cd, then you flip it over and the other side is a dvd. it doesn't cost anymore than the reg cd either. i paid 14.99 for it, and i think it's worth every penny.

saw them in chicago. awesome show!!
Can Axl and Co. stop the power of the internet?

there's no way they can stop it. they may be able to bully some stations into not playing it, but they can't stop modern technology.
