  1. The guy went from biggest badass to a huge dork in 4 short years.

Perhaps the break up was for the best.  As pathetic as he is now, so many years have been removed from their prime years that it does not tarnish their legacy. Imagine GNR coming back in 98-99 with this version of Axl? It would have been disastrous. He did come back in 2001, but it was just solo band. so no damage done.

I am actually glad that we get to remember them as they were in the early 90's.  The "reunion" of 2016 does not count.

  2. I couldn't care less what Slash sounds like on non GNR related insignificant songs like CD material. 99% of the fans just want to hear him play the songs he helped write. Nobody gives a shit how much noodling he does on CD songs. He doesn't care enough to put in the effort. He thinks those songs suck as well. He just wants to keep Axl happy and be paid to fund his divorce.

Why can Axl sing fine with AC/DC but sounds crap with Guns. There’s flashes of the old Axl, but not for an entire song.

I saw Guns 3 times on the NITL tour and while some parts were brilliant, mostly I was just bored out of my tits.

Whereas I saw The Stones 5 times on their current tour and they blew me away each time. There was fuck ups, dud notes, missed que’s. But it was live and real, and they got better every show, the songs were changed around to accommodate age but they played the songs live and differently each night.

I also got £90 & £400 tickets for £35 with the Lucky Dip tickets. The Stones felt honest. They’re not the same band they were in 72, but I don’t expect them to be. Its 2018. I expect them to still be a band though and they are.

Slash and Du$$ coming back has been an anti climax. The Chinese songs were  toured for almost 10 years. Pull your ginger head out of your arse Axl and cut out the shite. I don’t want a 3 hour show. I want 2 hours of YOUR music! Not an hours worth of fucking cover songs. The whole thing smacks of money. The stage show is to distract you from the car crash you’re hearing.

Keith is the soul of the Stones, he keeps them a band. Izzy was the soul of Guns, he wanted to keep them a band.

It would have made more sense for them to have toured 10,000 seater venues each year from 1991 until right now than have all the members leave and the band gone awol for years.

The original 4 minus the ginge would be great.

    +100000000000

    Couldn't agree more.

I would take the line up that performed at the Hall Of Fame show in an arena or theater over this.. I have said that since the Troubador line-up was announced and I am not a huge Myles fan.  Not as Guns N' Roses though. It isn't Gn'R without Axl just as it wasn't without Slash.

The original 4+ new singer would be great. It would be way better than what we are seeing now

Have to say slash is the backbone of this tour and band.

    He's everything now.

I think they would still sell a shitload of tickets if Axl were replaced. With another singer they wouldn't be restricted by Axl on what songs to playt. They would be able to play whatever the hell they wanted and the crowd would love it. Just imagine, no more CD nonsense.

You could counter ANY argument with Axl from eighties. I guess he should be able to jump around just like he did when he was young, cause he could do that once. The fact is that he's getting older and there's no reason to believe that Axl's physically capable of singing like he did in 2009-2010. There's no evidence that he could pull it of today. He wasn't capable of that kind of singing even when he performed with ACDC. The Axl of 2009-2010 is a totally different beast than todays Axl. You can't counter my post with age old videos of Axl. We're talking about todays Axl. Todays Axl could easily sing the way he did with ACDC, but there's no way he could sing like he did in 2010 today. That's like asking him to sing like he sang in the eighties.

Do you think 2001 Rock in Rio Axl could sing like he did in 2009/2010?  Age has nothing to do with it, and other rock singers that have lived a coked-up life have been able to sustain it at an older age than Axl. Nope, the age argument is a loser.

What's with the "don't give the ACDC songs are easier to sing bullshit"? No one's saying that ACDC songs are easier to sing, but it's a FACT that ACDC songs in general fit Axl's voice better. There's just no room to even argue about that. Just look at Axl's Shadow of our love performance. Again, when he's singing a song where he gets to scream throughout the song, he sounds great. It doesn't matter if it's an ACDC song or a GNR song, as long as ge gets to scream the whole song from beginning to the end, he sounds great. That's the reason why he sounds good on Nightrain too.

That's the reason why I'm 100% sure that he'll sound good when he's singing ACDC again, because that's like singing a setlist full of just Nightrain and Shadow of your Live type songs... well if you don't count the Bon Scott era songs, but then again Axl rarely sings those with rasp anyway.

Axl couldn't choose when Brian Johnsson lost his hearing. He couldn't choose when ACDC needed him. He had to do those shows at that point, otherwise ACDC would have chosen some other frontman. Axl had to do those shows at that point. If you call that disrespectful towards gnr fans, well you kinda sound like a crybaby. The fact is that it wasn't up to him when he could do those shows.

And even if you want to deny the fact that ACDC songs fit Axl's voice currently better than GNR songs do, it doesn't change the fact that ACDC songs DO fit Axl's voice MUCH better than GNR songs do.

I counter your entire post with 2009-2010 Axl Rose. He's capable of sounding decent on GNR songs if he really wanted to.

This is purw, raw, rock and roll at it`s finest. Axl sounds like an unstoppable force of nature, and it's just something to behold and appreciate forever.

My point exactly. He gave that to a fan base that wouldn't care if he fell off a cliff. They still hate him. He should have done that for to his real fans. The fans that had been waiting for him to reunite with Slash for over 20 yrs. Instead we got Mickey fuckin Mouse.

Exactly. Plus while he's technically probably at the top of his game, his impro skills have disminished since a few years. He noodles. No feel at all.

I know Slash doesn't like playing the same stuff twice, but he should start playing some of his old stuff again. It has been such a long time that it would be like new. I would love for him to play Double Talkin Jive exactly like he did in Paris '92. He should watch some old videos and play that shit again.
