Rules are about semantics "highvoltage".
How about if I have a big old "Donate to the Red Cross" link in my sig...? Will that be allowed...? Common sense...?

From a girl who regurgitates every Morrissey cliche under the sun...

Yet you're inclined to listen to bands that feature in Qs Top 10 Bands ever!
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Who's in "Q's Top 10"...?
If you mean Beatles, Smiths, Stone Roses, Joy Division etc... then, yes, I do.
I assure you, I don't like them because they are in "Q's Top 10"...
-
What's your three favourite cover's of all time...?
1. Twist And Shout - The Beatles
2. Dead Souls - Nine Inch Nails
3. Hurt - Johnny Cash
-
I'm inclined not to like artists that the intellectual circles tell you to like.
As for unique, haunting voices - Ian Curtis is all you need. (And he sings to better music too...)
-
I don't know where I'm at with Pink Floyd. Some of their stuff amazes me, some of it sends me to sleep...
My vote: The Beatles

No one can play Buckethead's parts.
So, they either need him back or some amazing replacement before they can play a show.
-
They were good but bob dylan did more for music.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I seriously doubt it.
I seriously doubt that Bob Dylan has influenced more bands/artists than The Beatles.
Does he integrate the younger generation like The Beatles do...? Not where I'm from. I doubt any of my friends could name you more than two Dylan songs.
Dylan was great. Elvis was great.
But The Beatles are something else altogether.
-
On a side note:
Why do people, usually 'rockers', always seem to give the inflection that "pop" is a bad thing...?
"Pop" does not = bad. Some of the best music of all time has been "pop".

Both bands are a joke.
Metallica are less of a joke, so I vote for them.

The Beatles played 5 - 6 days a week in Hamburg. Sometimes 2 shows a day.
They went there novices and came back as tight as fuck.

Where to start...
Firstly, we need to understand the difference between "Rock" and "Rock N' Roll".
"Rock" - the heavier & harder sister - developed later, AFTER The Beatles, particularly in the 1970s. It developed from "Rock N Roll" and - yes - from The Beatles. The Beatles were "Rock N Roll" - they defined it.
The Beatles were making "Rock" in the 1960s, before anyone else, go listen to "Helter Skelter" or "Tomorrow Never Knows". These songs are as 'heavy' as anything...
"Overated"...? Well, how many number one singles did GNR have, yet we idolise them so... The Beatles had TWENTY SEVEN, probably more - my memory is not good. The point is, they EARNED any amount of praise they recieve by being untouchable - in both the popularity and creative senses.
The song "Rain" is responsible for Oasis's entire career.
The song "Tomorrow Never Knows" is responsible for The Chemical Brothers' entire career.
No Beatles - No Nirvana. Cobain allued to this.
And so on... and so on...
Casual people think The Beatles were some kind of goody-goody, whiter-than-white pop band. Delve a little deeper and you will realise this is wrong. Did you know John Lennon once swung the body of an electric guitar at some Germans head in Hamburg and nearly killed him...? And, in the same club a few weeks later, McCartney and Harrison set fire to the place and got throw into some German jail... People just don't realise how violent those Hamburg shows were - we're talking Sex Pistols shows, doubled. (Maybe not but you get the point).
Greatest band of all time. By some length.

I wonder what the combined I.Q. of Motley Crue is...

Here we stand
Like an Adam and an Eve
Waterfalls
The Garden of Eden
Two fools in love
So beautiful and strong
The birds in the trees
Are smiling upon them
From the age of the dinosaurs
Cars have run on gasoline
Where, where have they gone?
Now, it's nothing but flowers

Lyrics as deep as "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". The music isn't as good though. :krider:

It's hard to hold a candel, in the cold November Rain
Well DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's "candle".
DUUUHHHH.

"With The Beatles" but actually I prefer the Capitol version "Meet The Beatles" - one of my favourite records ever.
-
Kim Deal of the Pixies and the Breeders is fantastic too.
Some of those Pixies basslines are perfect.
Edit: And how could I forget Mani...?! This Is The One has a great bassline. So does She Bangs The Drums.

I can't believe some of you think Curt Cobian is one of the best guitarrists FFS.
Have you ever seen him play fast.
Some people really think like this...?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You used to love kurt as well
I think kurts pretty damn good
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What do you mean I "used to love Kurt".
I still do.
I was making the point that this guy, quoted above, thinks Cobain was bad bescause he didn't play fast solo's.
Which band has the best art
in MY WORLD
Posted
The Smiths have some fantastic photographs.
Goldfrapp has some nice art.
The Factory/New Order artwork is pretentious shit. But, as said by "cutting-edge boy" above - Unknown Pleasures is good. Not a fan of the Closer photograph.
The new Prodigy album/singles have some really cool artwork.
