    Personally, i think the guitar effect on rising sun is awful. and the singer, well, lets not go there. He's tone deaf.

    How dare you have an intro of 47 seconds before any vocals kick in?

    Who the fuck do you think you are? Why do you keep me waiting for 47 seconds on your intro song. The very first song that you put up to play on your myspace?

    What makes you think that I as a listener got 47 seconds to spare before you decide that it's a good time to sing something?

    Either way, that's just a thought. Now over to the songs themselves.

    The band isn't nearly tight enough. it's actually so out of time that it's disturbing at times.

    As for the singer, have him take lessons. Yes, the guy that plays the piano and tells you a thing or two about your "instrument".

    is there a chorus in the song? cus I don't hear it. Some occasional nice ambient guitar work though.

    Rising song: The same awful singer, same timing issues. And what's up with the wet guitars?

    Keep on shining? The sun is gonna stop shining if you played this to him.

    Without a Trace: Seems to be the best of the bunch. The singer ain't all that bad on this.

    But the vocal melody lines could be more dynamic. Explore the beauty in vocal range. If the singer has more than a one octave range. Hell, even with a one octave range he should be able to pull off something more dynamic.

    The guitar work ain't all that bad.

    When the intro for hope for sale started I gave up listening...........

  2. up vocals, down with guitars, compress the living shit out of the two room mikes you don't have.

    tune the drum kit, and turn up the bass for cryin out loud.

    is this a guitar riff showcase band?

    no frickn vocals, and no bass.

    if you have problems keeping things leveled, add some compression. and try recording the same riff guitar TWICE!!

    don't do a stereo split. then pan the guitars LR. Or just leave them double to either left or right channel, and pan the bass guitar to the left channel. also make sure you pan the drum kit accordingly.

    right now it's so poorly recorded and arranged that it's really hard to give you an honest "review".

    I'd might even ask the singer to work a bit on his attitude when he sings. :)

    overall, sounds like any other garageband. not sure where you wanna go with this tho.

  3. Must say, very impressive. A lot better than Nickeback. A lot of good ideas going off in there. Seven is my favourite. The chorus reminds me of a song off Ozzy's Ozmosis album. Some nice work lead guitar work and backing vox.

    On Exit, at the end, is that a guitar made to sound like a sitar? If so, how? I must know. :D

    cool you think it's ozmosis style. :P as far as I know C.Cornell casted a few demos for that album.

    But I don't think any of em made it to the album. Alice Cooper used em I think.

    along with a 1 million bucks worth of recording gear. (NOT JOKING) :)

    Bands you love and like have most likely been mixed and recorded there :)

  4. The songs are okay. thing is there quite crowded , the mixing could be better.

    in my opinion i always found songs to have more hit potential when there kept simple but unique.

    Seven has a catchy riff , but in my opinion , and thats mine only , should have that with bas sn drums and take out the recurring lead guitar and let it rip into a solo soemwhere near the end of the song , the average man needs something they can understand , thats why nickelback are so succeful

    Well, the songs aren't mixed! they are rough mixes. And the rough mixes sound DAMN fine for rough mixes.

    Success you say? well, I'm for one, really fucking happy our recordings sound NOTHING like fucking NICKELBACK!! LOL

    Anyway, the mix engineer is someone famous and someone who's in the loop to the beloved Andy Wallace of yours. Actually, the mixing room is the same Andy Wallace has owned. :) And I highly doubt the mixes themselves will be of any concern.

    all new gibsons have that bullshit chambering thing. I don't recall what fancy name Gibson gave it.

    What they do is hollow out the body in certain "chamber", sure it makes the guitar lighter.

    But it also KILLS the tone the LPs are known/famous for... fucked up....

    I think you'd have to buy either a Custom, the Vintage Original Series or some other expensive version of the LP to

    get the "old fashioned and out dated body which always sounded good" body...

    The custom is what it is, not all think it's better than the standards.

    The studio and classic and what not are just cheaper versions of the LP Standard.

    I for one would NEVER buy a new LP Standard. NEVER!!! unless it was VOS of some sort or a 58/59 reissue.

    the difference is in electronics, wood, bindings etc etc...

    customs from the 70ies are good. Some geeks don't like em cus they don't think it's a good build year.

    And some think the customs from the 80ies are great guitars. While some think they aren't all that.

    The standards were good from mid 80ies to 96-97ish... maybe a few years earlier.

    But you would need to play em before you buy one.

    Some studioes from the 90ies are popular. I also believe they were better crafted and there is a ton of info about this on various forums.

    The real Les Paul is the 59 Standard, which is considered THE Les Paul. Then again... it costs 400.000++

    and then the "Queen" a 58... and so on...

    You can pick up re-issues for around 2500-4000. depending on condition and where you are buying.

    Note, all guitars tend to sound a bit different. Some darker, some brighter. you just need to try em.

    Other alternative is to look for a Tokai LS80-120 and 160? and even the LS320.

    They can be picked up for around 1000 bucks and up. And are 58 and 59 copies. All highly regarded

    Japanese made replicas/copies. The older ones 80-160 range from the 70ies I believe. And I'm not sure

    if they use the same wood as the real Gibson 58 and 59. google Tokai Registry for more info.

    You seem to know what you're talking about though, kudos. I don't know if someone's singing correctly or not, i just know if i think it sounds shit or not.

    everybody starts out shit.

    just takes time. physically too, to get the shit in ur throat to polish up.

    I didn't get a chance to hear you sing tho. But one thing to keep in mind.

    You want to keep the singing coming from your balls, ass and stomach.

    This is really easy, put your palm on ur chest. right in the middle of your chest.

    Then do a long "AAAAAAAAA" don't FORCE it. and think LOW!!

    don't push it. you should now feel your chest "vibrate"

    do this till you get it down, when your chest isn't vibrating you are doing it "wrong", meaning you're hitting

    your head voice.

    Getting down a good chest voice is really important because it allows you to sing with a lot more control.

    And it builds up your confidence level as you go. Keep it in the chest voice and you sing better!

    Now, try singing the same song in a lower key. Don't try to imitate Axl. Just sing with your own tone.

  8. No, Axl can't do this because he doesn't have the momentum of Radiohead.

    The only thing Radiohead and GNR have in common is that they are mythical bands.

    But Radiohead has been releasing records the last 10 years. GNR has not.

    Keep in mind, some Radiohead songs have been in the works for YEEEEEARS.

    Just because they are written, they aren't released. They play new songs at shows till

    they are ready to record the songs. GNR doesn't seem to do this too much.

    And GNR plays large arenas with seats avaliable. Radiohead plays small scenes that

    are PACKED!!! and finding a ticket is near impossible.

    Radiohead is a band in demand. GNR is not.

    To most people GNR is just an Axl band. And the people who will buy Chinese Democracy

    are gonna be people who want it in disc format. Cus they are by now, considered older people.

    But if ChiDem does well, and GNR gains momentum again. Yes, they can release it like this.

    Then again, Axl has some money to make up for in terms of his recording budget....

  9. True Metal People don't get lessons...

    there are too few good female guitarists. And the easiest way to keep people playing is to help them out a bit.

    it's bullshit to say metal ppl don't get lessons. if not from an instructor, they get lessons from other guitarists.

    or pick up stuff from people they play with.

    And metal might not be the true art form for an up and coming female guitarist :)

    any shithead can strum some chords. getting help to define your style aint bad.

    I for one don't like lessons, but they sure helped out when starting out.

    it clears out some clutter and gets you into the basics of playing faster.

  10. LESSONS!!!!

    You just save a lot of time. And all the beginners shit you sorta need to go through goes a lot faster.

    But lessons won't make you a better player if you don't practice. That being said, jamming out with

    friends is really good practice. Even if you can't play more than a few chords.

    My own opinion is that it's not always about how many chords you play, but rather how you play

    them in a band or with others. It gives you more headroom to experiment and it allows you to push

    yourself in a different direction.
