  1. My friend recruited me to play in his Doors cover band. I am now the keyboardist. Its not a permanent band its just something to help him out with until he gets permanent members.

  2. Yeah, but what's strange is that Duff says that they tune to A440.  I know that Axl says that in the studio, they would play it faster than it is on the album, then slow the tracks down...I don't know, however if they slowed it down to the point of being 1/2 step.

 Where did you hear that?

    :krider:

  3. Plus whoever said they got perfect pitch hearing, your probably bullshitting. Cause it is very rare, i have never met a musician with perfect pitch.

You've never met someone with Perfect Pitch :o Im guessing your not a classical-musician or someone who goes to like advanced chorus shit or band or whatever.

Im not bullshitting when I speak of my abilities, I cant speak for the other person since i've never met them but im not bullshitting trust me.

Ok first dont link recognizing different notes, to recognizing different peoples voices. Thats more linked to recognizing different guitar sounds, i can pick a fender from a gibson quite easily, as well as an esp from a fender etc... Same with voices, thats got to do with tone of the sound...

Each note has a different quality to it that makes it unique to another note. Its kinda hard to explain but thats basically it. If you ever meet someone with PP or really advanced music training ask them about that and they'll tell you. Also it doesnt matter what instrument it is its always going to have that vital quality to it.

And thats quite impressive that you can tell a guitar from another guitar :o

  4. I have perfect pitch - it's not a HUGE skill that people act like it is.

Basically, it's like hearing a voice. I bet you all know at least 20 people who you can recognise just by the sound of their voice. Once you learn to recognise all of the voices (notes) A - G#, it's not hard.

And replicating them with your voice is just a few vocal lessons + alot of practise away.

I would be very surprised if all of the musicians (except possibly the drummer) DIDN'T have perfect pitch.

And yeah, I'd agree that Buckethead is definatly virtuous. I personally don't like his playing, but he is still extremely talented. It's just that a whole bunch of bells and whistles don't really impress me as much as a well placed simple hammer-on or bend.

not very many people have perfect pitch, it is infact very rare to have, only musician that comes to mind that has perfect pitch is Yngwie

and i think your getting perfect pitch mixed up with relative pitch

and Slash is a virtuoso, being a virtuoso is not just about being able to play fast its about knowing your instrument being comfortable with it and being able to get the sound out of it that you want to get, and slash does that very well

No ive been tested in my school by my teacher and the ONLY OTHER person in the school with that pitch ability. Believe me its quite Absolute. My friend has relative pitch and surprisingly its quite accurate and he can tell notes pretty fast nowadays.

I also agree with you in the fact that Slash is a possible virtuoso.

Jimi Hendrix had PP btw. Theres a few amazing stories about him and that ability.

I agree with you in the fact that Perfect Pitch isnt such a huge ability. I developed it at an early age but it really hasnt come into play and probably never will. I just see colours and know what colours are to what note.

And I see both of your points through.

  6. Do you think that any of the old/new GnR members had any type of special musical ability higher than like a normal advanced musician.

Now if you dont know what im talking about I mean things like Virtuosity and other shit like Perfect Pitch.

Like do you think that, since Axl has been singing and stuff from a very young age, that he has developed the Perfect Pitch ability. (Perfect Pitch if you dont know is the ability to know exact notes instantly without the use of an outside instrument like a piano).

I know that Buckethead is a virtuoso guitarist (Virtuosity is being technically perfect at a specific instrument from a young age or when you first start to play that instrument) but was there other virtuosos in GnR?

    Jw.

  7. I think that Megadeth are more popular than you think. But they started to repeat what they did. Metallica didnt, whether it was shit or not they kinda tried some new stuff while staying in the same genre of music.

  8. Thanks all, ive tried French Horn but my synth doesnt do that dramatic-like effect to it but im guessing that Dizzy has like the expensive-fancy-ass shit so thats probably why. Thank you all though.

    :krider:

Now that I think about it it kinda sounds like a French Horn Quartet or something like that. I dont know but whatever. Thanx

  9. Ok so I can basically play Madagascar on all the instruments and crap like that but my problem is the beginning, what type of Synthesized setting is that?

Is it like some Old-English Brass or like Medieval Church Organ or some crap like that I cant seem to find it on ANY synth/keyboard I play.

Does anyone know the setting? PLZ tell me if you do (in this thread)

    :krider:

  10. Umm, lets see here:

    1. Sweet Child O' Mine-Guns N' Roses

    2. Free Bird-Lynard Skynard

    3. Smoke on the Water-Deep Purple

    4. Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana

    5. Iron Man-Black Sabbath
