  1. Grunge is a million times better. Hair metal is watered down shit, the guitars have no power at all, listen to Talk dirty to me by Poison for an example. I especially hate those gay background lyrics found in hair metal songs such as Bad Medicine and also the drums sound dated and shit, if you notice in hair metal albums the drums usually sound fake.

Stop saying that Grunge is all about shouting and the singers can't sing, have you ever heard Chris Cornell sing? that guy's vocal ability is a whole lot better than the likes of Vince Neil and Bret Michaels as are Eddie Vedder and Layne Steeley. The Grunge guitarists weren't that bad, you had some decent guitarists like Jerry Cantrell who can solo quite well and Kim Thayil.

At the end of the day Hair Metal is cheesy and embarrasing. It's more like cheesy pop than 'metal'.

  2. I'm fed up of Indie rock. It's played all the time in England on the radio and on TV. The biggest problem is that a lot of the bands are too mellow and boring like Snow Patrol, The Thrills, Athlete and Coldplay or they have a singer who can'tsing to save his life like in Razorlight. They should play more metal on UK radio.

  3. They kick the fuck outta VR thats for sure, no one will remember Contraband in 10 years time but everyone still remembers RATM's classic innovative debut.

They sound nothing like Korn, Limp Bizkit or other Rap Metal bands.

  4. I don't think those 2 kinds of music just don't fit together... <_<

They fit like a cock into a pussy. Cos Zack's rapping is really aggressive and high pitched which goes well with Tom's guitar. It fits better than Chris Cornell's singing (which is still excellent)

Their music is so energetic, I feel like moshing in the living room whenever I put their records on.

  5. Plant's voice began to go downhill in the late 70's, don't expect a loud rock album, he doesn't like making Led Zep style of music anymore. It'll be an experementive record probably.

He seems like a really cool guy from interviews I've heard.

  6. Some Emo is pretty decent, bands like My Chemical Romance (who are in session on the BBC Radio 1 lock up show at 9pm tuesday), Atreyu and Killswitch Engage are good. Atreyu and MCR even have guitar solos in their songs.

Some of you need to realise that old rock is dead, especailly blues based hard rock. Music evolves, imagine if we were stuck with that same shit from the 50's when people used to sing about cars and wooing girls. Don't be like one of these old farts who say shit like "back in my day it was much better".

Think you lost the idea there...Killswitch Engage aren't emo...

Now people, I'm a big emo fan ya fuckers so don't gpo bashing at it alright?

    Amazing guitar riffs?

Try downloading a Bullet For My Valentine song. Some of their riffs and solos are better than GN'R's.

Heres a little sample: (theres a cool solo at 2:20)

go to http://www.bulletformyvalentine.com and there is a sampler there!

And then theres Eighteen Visions, they're an emo band INSPIRED BY GUNS N' ROSES http://www.eighteenvisions.com

I used to think emo sucked until I saw Eighteen Visions and Bullet For My Valentine live and it amazed me! Go see one of them live, then realise the true power of emo

    Emo bands:

Taking Back Sunday, Funeral For A Friend, From Autumn To Ashes, Bullet For My Valentine, Eighteen Visions, Thursday, Dead Poetic, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance...etc

    Not all new music sucks..

Audioslave, Muse, Velvet Revolver, Red Top Matches ( http://www.redtopmatches.com )

Oh and to the dude who said emo is ''pansy'', god they're singing about love and stuff, have you never had a girlfriend? Retard<_< pfft, you say is ''pansy'' but look at Don't Cry by GN'R, thats an emotional song. Broaden your horizons bitch:wub:

I know Killswitch Engage aren't really EMO but they do have traces of Emo/Screamo in their music.

  7. Right now I hate anything by Maroon 5, Scissor Sistors and Razorlight. Guilty pleasure would have to be 'Get Out' by JoJo

you like jojo but you don't like sissor sistors, i can't understand that lol...only 10 year olds like jojo unless your a kid or a phedophile

I only liked that song motherfucker, not her, and it was a guilty pleasure. So I guess any adult who liked Michael Jackson when he was in the Jackson 5 was a paedophile? Thats like me saying to you must be gay for liking scissor sisters.

Don't follow this with something like MJ is a paedo blah blah.

  8. Some Emo is pretty decent, bands like My Chemical Romance (who are in session on the BBC Radio 1 lock up show at 9pm tuesday), Atreyu and Killswitch Engage are good. Atreyu and MCR even have guitar solos in their songs.

Don't be like one of these old farts who say shit like "back in my day it was much better".

  9. They're no way near GNR's level. They have some half decent songs though like 'I Wanna Be Somebody', 'Blind In Texas' and the hilarious 'Animal (Fuck like a beast)'. They probably thought Spinal Tap was a real life documentry.

  10. I define new/modern rock as everything after the alternative era of the late 80's and early 90's and classic rock as music from the 60's to the 80's. Using this definition I say new rock is way better.

  11. I've been a fan of his since I was about 4 years old when Bad came out. I've got all of his albums. The good thing about him was that he made mostly uptempo music and didn't make too many of these so called smooth slow jams that artists like Usher and co do nowadays. I hope the allegations turn out to be false, but if he did it then he should go down, but they should put him in some kind of solitary confinement prison.

  12. I love them. They're my favourite band at the moment. I've got all their albums apart from renegades, plus the live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium 2000 concert DVD. All you haters can go listen to your fuckin Motley Crue, Skid Row and Aerosmith :fuckyou:

My fave tracks are Bombtrack, Killing In The Name Of, Know Your Enemy, Wake Up (better than Kashmir!), Bullet In The Head, Take The Power Back, Township Rebellion, Bulls On Parade, Down Rodeo, Guerilla Radio, Mic Check, Calm Like A Bomb.

They were the best metal band of the 90's. It's a shame they split up, but at least we've got Audioslave who I think are a lot better than Velvet Revolver plus Zack is working on a solo album.

  13. People hate them cos they are watered down shit. There's only one good rap metal group and that my friends is Rage Against The Machine.

    add faith no more too.

    B)

How could I forget Faith No More? I've been listening to The Real Thing and Angel Dust for the last 2 months non stop.

  14. Hmm I'm trying a discovery of emo at the moment (this is when you try and broaden your music taste and listen to music you wouldn't normally think of listening to with an open mind, its quite a novel concept on this forum it seems. "If tha hair ain't to tha shoulder, ah won't even bother.") I like Fugazi, Rites of Spring, Jawbreaker, My Chemical Romance and The Used. Even though some of them probably don't count as emo, if anyone has any more suggestions, I'll be grateful.

Try Killswitch Engage, they're more metal sounding. Download Rose of Sharyn, The End of heartache, when darkness falls.
