  1. its nice to have a place where we dont have to read posts from haters like you.

and you are supposed to be people who should be supporting robin because he's the lead guitarist in their supposed favorite band.

yet you want to sit there and dwell on 10 years ago.

shame on the mods here for allowing this thread to go as far as it did. and i'm the one who got a fucking warning.

  2. That's a good quote from May, and just proves my ORIGINAL point that Axl thought it was a GOOD thing Finck originally left. Thanks for posting. :)

Brian confirms that Axl wanted to ditch the stuff Robin had worked on and calls him in to work on material that Axl would actually like. Too bad Brian couldn't stick around longer, like another 6 years or so...

hahahahha ok, how did you come up with THAT conclusion after reading Brian May's quote is beyond me...

let's see, you highlighted this part of the quote: "'Brian can you come and do stuff which I will like and I won't feel too bad about ditching this other stuff?'"

where in the hell do you read from that that Axl didn't like Robin's stuff??? Axl's just only asking May to help him make some new stuff that he will like as much or more than the stuff he made with Robin cuz he had departed and Axl didn't want to use his stuff now that he was gone but he actually loved that stuff!!!! you know, the part where he says he doesn't want to 'feel too bad about ditching it'??? cuz he liked Robin's work!!!!!

so, really, I don't see how that quote confirms anything of what you just said.. Longpig made a good point too.. but you prefer to keep on thinking whatever you want and not open your eyes and read, if you would actually read and interpret the quotes right you would see what we are saying..

I'm going to assume that was a rhetorical question, because if you don't know why Finck was hired, then I really can't help you.

And you are making the arrogant assumption that Axl doesn't want a REAL lead guitarist for his band, just because it's set up that way.

No, Robin doesn't need a bunch of fans to tell him what he should be doing and how, but then again, it certainly explains why he doesn't have a bunch of fans in the first place.

and do YOU know why Robin was hired??? no one knows for that matter.. to say he was hired as a guitarist would be really closed minded.. cuz he actually seems to have done a lot more with Axl.. you know writing???

i'm not assuming anything, I'm just repeating what Richard said once in an email.. that if it was for him he would prefer 2 guitarists but Axl was the one that wanted 3 guitarists in the band and Axl was the one that pretty much wanted that line up configuration.. I've read that from Richard's mail, i'm not assuming

and your last comment, Robin doesn't have fans??? mmm there's a forum dedicated only to him and there's over 100 members over there.. and out of the new members I would say he's the only one that has that many loyal fans outside of the band and not fans that like him but first and foremost are GN'R fans.. you know, for example, Richard is awesome, I really like him.. but everyone that prefers him over Robin doesn't consider themselves a 'Richard fan', they are more like 'new lineup fans that prefer Richard' but Robin fans are Robin fans.. beyond their love for New GN'R

great post. robin's fanbase is growing by the day.

i bet thats a cool board you are speaking of.

  3. no you idiots would find something to complain about regardless. ok

i for one got to see 3 of the best shows i've ever seen in my entire life this year and I'd go see it 3 more times.

thats not to say i dont wish sometimes they'd play CD more, or play TWAT more, but GNR in no way is obligated to play any particular song. I am happy with what Axl and the band chose to play for us and we are lucky to even get these shows after all the years of silence and nothing.

next time you want to bitch about the setlist... think about 2003, 2004, 2005, all the disappointments in 2002, 1997,1998, etc. 2006 has been the biggest and best year for GNR fans since 1991-92. This is not the time to whine and complain about every little detail you feel is wrong. This should be happy.

  4. you fuckheads just dont wanna give him a chance coz he replaced slash, WELL FUCK YOU

    no..fuck you..

if only if it were so easy, to as why some "slate" Finck...

its not because of Slash..if thats honestly what your thinking..:lol: !!..

    Exactly.

Saying people don't like Finck because he replaced Slash is just a bullshit excuse. No One needs to tell me why I don't like him as a guitarist. It has fuck all to do with former members. I like Fortus ALOT, and Tommy is good too. If I was so hung up on the former line-up I wouldn't feel that way or even admit to it.

And saying that Finck plays the songs with his own "style" is just a fucking cop-out. Sorry, if he was such a great guitarist Axl wouldn't feel the need to have had Bucket there and now Ron as well as Richard to help share lead guitar duties. Slash didn't need any help to play all the solos. Finck needs 2 other guitarists to back him up and get the same job done.

People try to equate his loyalty to Axl as being equal to his skills as a guitar player. That's not the case at all. Good for him that he's stayed in the band all these years (except of course when he left and Axl thought that was a GOOD thing), still doesn't make him a good guitarist.

bad argument. its not a matter of needing someone else to pick up robin's slack. its because the band is awesome with 3 guitarists who each have their own style and bring their own thing to the table. gilby cited this as one of his reasons for quiting/getting himself fired was because he didn't want to play in a band with 3 guitarists.. and this was 1994.

robin plays the old material the way he choses to play it. he's the lead guitarist, they are his parts to play as he wishes. i think he does a great job, and i think the majority would agree outside of some silly slash fanboys on a gnr forum.

  5. Sorry to ask a stupid question I should probably know, but when are HD allowed to use the song, or has that not been cleared up yet?!!

    LP

    they haven't said.

some speculation has been made that it will happen today since its the launch of the tour. it was originally put on the HD site on the 20th which was the previous tentative opening night until a few of those first dates got postponed.

  6. Because he's Axl's main man and the people who aren't keen on the new GnR line-up feel he's the best person to target to slag off the band.

The main reason they slag him off cuz he has his own style that is a looser and based more on emotion than just mundanely hitting every note slash played when slash would play it, so they take this difference to be "wrong". It is of course bollocks. That's not to say they can't prefer Slash's solos, but to call robin shit is nonsense because he probably plays every solo exactly how he wants to.

    LP

    great post..

robins fanbase is growing by the day. :shades:

if he left GNR, my interest in this band would go way way way down (although I'd still love it). Its like an article that reviewed the Inland Invasion show said.. He's pretty much an equal to Axl.

  7. his butchering of patience, and sometimes what he does with novmeber rain

i love everything else he does, but he should really pass the solo on patience to someone else.

aw i love his patience solo. he really makes it his own.

but i dont think it matters on the older stuff so much as the new stuff.

and he's been so fucking dedicated to Axl and to the band.. he's been there from the beginning of this project despite a year long sojourn with Trent. he is going to be one of the key writers/players on the upcoming album.

  8. I'll tell you why he gets slated.

because he is the guy playing most of the leads in the band. he is the guy who replaced the former lead guitarist just months after his departure. he is the guitar icon of this band and the dislike stems from jealousy.

he has an amazing tone. his style is amazing, his stage presence is amazing. when this album hits, he is going to be huge. and that just kills the slash cupcakes.. so they bag on him.

    he's my favorite guitarist. rock3

  9. i happen to agree with adnan.

    Theres a surprise...

time to get over the old lineup.

    If I had a nickel...

well maybe you stupid fucking cupcakes need to quit bringing up the stupid fucking old band in every thread. this is about Rock am Ring. It has JACK SHIT to do with anyone formerly in the band.

its not a crime to perfer this lineup and actually support the band. it'd be nice if we could do it without you fucking slash cupcakes talking shit in every thread.

  10. This band has so much more chemistry than the old band ever had.

    :shocked::no:

I always thought the old band was very weak live. Good individual performers, but I have yet to see more than 5 or 6 shows where the interaction rivaled the new band at all.

    Then you havent seen shit

This band is tight, but not nearly as much as the old band. Axl and Slash did shit like this too, but more importantly their strongest chemistry existed between them as musicians, as a band.

Bands dont rise out of skid row without understanding eacherther as musicians, but Guns N' Roses did so much more than that. They took the world by storm, sold out stadiums, sold millions of albums, changed the face of rock music, and they were genuine.

Sure, towards the end things got weak, but even their last performance of Paradise City in Argentina was amazing.

jesus christ he just posted his opinion and you go on a tangent

i happen to agree with adnan. the chemistry between axl and finck/fortus/brain/ron/tommy/dizzy is unmatched by any band I've ever seen. ever. stop wasting your time defending and dwelling on something that is no longer there and is not coming back.

time to get over the old lineup.

  11. Send for paramedics i think HTGTH is about to choke on Mercks dick.

The simple facts that a board can ask members to refrain from descussing a decent topic ( not a leak as such ) says it all really.

Proud to be a mygnr member rock3

If you like being censored feel free to keep posting or being told not to at HTGTH

same here. i hardly ever post at HTGTH.

knock them all you want.. but at the end of the day, they are the board who is in GNR/Managements good graces. Theres a reason for that.

  12. Usually I'm hammered and I rant .. But I won't

If you take the Axl fanboys who think he can do no wrong, and the Slash lovers who think Axl sucks cuz it's not 1987 and he just won't live in the past .. Then you have the fans of GNR ...

The people who like GNR like Better cuz it's a good song .. A little of both

, a modern edge, and a classic edge .. it sound updated and it fucking rocks with guitar solo ... Not like Contraband where that all sounded like it could be 1988, and that's not a shot ..

Slash is Slash .. No one can touch that fucker in his hey day .. But no one can touch this new GNR in "their" hey day ...

kids will wanna attempt to learn the shredding solos, just as much as I, not that long ago wanted to learn SCOM .. My mother who's 59 liked Better .. She liked the words, she liked the music ... you can dance to it .. and in the bridge you can want to beat the shit out of your neighbor .. you cant lose

Axl is Axl .. the people who dont like the fact Slash left 10 YEARS AGO .. get over it, or leave ..

    great post

  13. I don't think Trent's ass will ever be owned by Robin, after all Trent is the leader of his own project. He does what he wants when he wants. Robin does what Axl wants when Axl wants, just like he did what Trent wanted when Trent wanted.

To an extent, You may have a point but I think Finck has had a greater amount of creative input into G&R. Really think about it. Have you heard about any Finck solo albums hitting the shelves recently?

I guess maybe I'd just like to believe he's been doing something G&R related and not just travelling the world and posting his photos on his website (cool site).

I'd actually liked to hear a finck track on the album. With him singin/screamin, playing guitar, whatever. Robin rocks and I think he deserves a lot of praise and adoration for his craft in Guns.

indeed. I think Robin is going to be all over Chinese Democracy. Him and Tommy moreso than the other guys who haven't been there for the last decade working on this.
