  1. Lame is if Axl only cared about Positive Feedback on his Facebook page.

I think he's standing by his decision, he understands that some people get pissed no matter what he does - hence the pizza story - and he's moving on, as we all should.

HOF was a great end to the original chapter of GnR, now we can all look forward to enjoying some new music.

Gunsguy edit to post full thing in first post:

To: Cleveland, Ohio, Guns N' Roses Fans and everyone who's shown support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I seriously didn't plan on or expect the overwhelmingly positive response and public support for my decision regarding the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. With such a generous outpouring of solidarity from fans, media outlets, writers and other artists, I'm truly humbled, blown away and unbelievably relieved! To be honest, I thought it would go the other way and was just hoping to weather the storm. As I said, I sincerely didn't want to disappoint anyone. It gets old being the outlaw even if "it's only rock and roll".

It took a lot of focus and soul searching to be sincere and informative while making a genuine effort to be somewhat diplomatic. We made, what I feel, are real efforts to learn about the Hall and the Board, spoke as I said with the president and various members, and though I inducted Elton John and Bernie Taupin in '94 saying something to the effect of "I'm learning what the Hall's about..."

I still don't exactly know or understand what the Hall is or how or why it makes money, where the money goes, who chooses the voters and why anyone or this board decides who, out of all the artists in the world that have contributed to this genre, officially "rock" enough to be in the Hall?

This isn't an attack. These are genuine issues I don't have enough verified information on to have more than rough ideas. Certainly not enough information to make any judgments about.

I would like to apologize to Cleveland, Ohio for not apologizing to them beforehand for not attending [the ceremony] in their city. I think they know how much I genuinely love performing there. Cleveland does in fact Rock!!

Now that the smoke's cleared a little, any desperate, misguided attacks have been just that, a pathetic stab at gossip, some lame vindictiveness, the usual entitlement crap, he's obsessed, crazy, volatile, a hater. I once bought a homeless woman a slice of pizza who yelled at me she wanted soup. We got her the soup. You can get your own.

Again: HUGE thanks to the fans and to everyone for the incredible public support. My congratulations to the other artists inducted. And my apologies to the city and people of Cleveland, Ohio. I hope you'll forgive me and we hope to see you again soon!

    Keep Rockin',

    Axl

Unlike my open letter to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Guns N' Roses Fans and Whom It May Concern this was written for GNR's official website, Facebook account and my personal twitter account and not intended as a press release. If anyone does choose to pick this up as has been done previously I'd appreciate if you'd run in full including this paragraph so as not to give a partial picture, have things taken out of context or to imply or inadvertently give the impression this was intended for other outlets.

    Thanks in advance. Peace-

  3. Seriously though, what difference does it make to us fans whether he accepts the award or not? We all know how good the music is so how is it disrespectful to us for him not to show up and accept it? I really don't understand that point of view.

I understand that some people had some sort of 'dream' that if he turned up it would lead to a reunion. That was obviously never going to happen so other than that, what's the point? It's not like we're his children and it would be great to see mommy and daddy in the same room for our sake!

Leave that crap to TMZ and let's focus on what really matters.

    +1

  4. Guys, could you please try and be serious? This is no laughing matter, prank or not. The manager's phone was stolen! Correspondences with venues and promoters and insurance companies and record labels are on that phone! Think how much it sucks when you lose a phone. No multiply that by a million. This really sucks. We've got to do what we can to help.

I'm sure it's locked down if it has that much valuable stuff on it. If she has an iPhone she can just wipe it remotely.

  5. Yes but...problem is : Bucket and Robin were the perfect players for the direction Axl wanted to go in with Chinese.

If Axl wants to go back to the AFD roots then that's cool too but in that case, sorry, but how is hiring someone who is trying super hard to play exactly like Slash a good idea ?

He will ALWAYS perceived as a downgrade wheras Robin and Bucket had their own unique thing going on.

Good point about where Axl wanted to go. Back in the late 90's there was alot of rumor about Axl wanting to go the 'electronica' route. So Bucket and Robin were more (techno) <--not really, but not sure how to describe it... and DJ has said it himself how he grew up listening to GnR so there's no surprise why he emulates Slash in alot of things... that being said, I think Axl is now seeming to want to keep GnR to a certain style, I believe he even mentioned it here on one of his chats where he says that he wants to keep a certain feel for what GnR is, and if he did solo stuff, it would be totally different.

  6. I can respect everyone's opinion on this, BUT, a great guitar player isn't just someone who can go really fast and hit all the notes (i.e. Buckethead, Bumblefoot). Yes, they are awesome, but it also takes passion, style, and musically they need to fit in with either the band or the era in which they are playing in.

Personally, I think DJ does fit in to the GnR feel, at least more than Buckethead ever did. I'm not saying that I don't like Bucket's music, but as a fan of GnR since 1988, him and Robin were definitely a departure from what I considered bluesy, dirty rock music. At least DJ is more bluesy.

  7. I've played guitar for a while now, and of course had more time to learn the Slash stuff, so this may be biased, but Robin's and Buckethead's music (although I like within the context of their songs) don't truly fit the bluesy, dirty style of GnR.

Their solos are pretty different in feel and scale. I'd use the term 'techno' more than 'bluesy' to describe their structure, whereas DJ's live sound brings it back to what encompassed GnR.

I believe DJ will fill that role on the next record and may be more likely to create one of those memorable riffs or solos that we all want to hear on the next album.

  8. Are you kidding. Do you know what Axl phlegm would sell for on eBay?

It would probably come with one of those real authentic certificates of authenticity

eBay has a policy that you can't sell any living organism including someone's DNA. In case we would want to create our own little Axl.

  9. In 1992, I saw GnR while Axl had pretty much lost his voice, and do-date, that was the best GnR concert I have seen. (out 9 so far)

I imagine he'll just sounds raspy and maybe a little weak in some unimportant moments...

I would wear a raincoat in the first row, don't want some Axl phlegm hitting you in the face

  10. Agreed.

I wonder how much influence management has over the positive reviews. I find it really interesting that they are getting a good response from the media who normally take cheap shot at everything GnR. The trend is changing and I wonder if that's because of someone's influence.
