  1. To the boring, whiny bitches moaning about the concert.....

    Were you there last night?

No? So why do you give a shit.

And to anyone who knows how to post photographs - maybe its worth starting a new thread with the pictures and speculation about Axl's throat. That looks pretty serious.... and it could explain his voice, and the length of time it took to release Chinese Democracy.

  2. For fuck's sake.

You pair are ruining this thread with your petty semantics. This is a thread about the new tour. Take your shitty little weasel argument onto private messaging so the rest of us don't have to endure your pathetic bickering.

And to the guy selectively choosing videos from 25 years ago to prove your point - this proves nothing. Of course you can find good vocal performances from the hundreds of options if you are selective enough. We could do the same now. Were you at the concert last night? So why do you give a shit?

  3. Everything could have been so different. Everything. If Axl had just did one thing differently.

If he could just have trusted a producer enough to hand over the tapes of the Chinese Democracy sessions, and let someone with an actual talent and ear for producing finish the album off.

The album was basically ready 8 years before it came out. After that, no significant changes were made, just pointless tinkering. Some would even argue that all the production on the album was a negative thing, it killed the rawness and energy of the initial sessions.

If he had a producer he could trust right now, Axl could get on with writing a new album, instead of fiddling around with the dials as he listens to, and tries to cut-and-paste 'Guitar Solo 137' into a ten year old song.

The Beatles wrote and released their entire catalogue in 10 years. In 8 years, Axl fiddled around with the sub-bass levels, and 'drum-sounds' of Chinese Democracy. Is it really worth it? After listening to the messy, over-produced, lifeless results, Axl's talents clearly lie in an area other than producing. All those years for that?

He needs to get in a producer he can work with, and can trust, and then get back to what he's good at - writing songs. If not, this ten-year bottleneck is just going to get even bigger - and the current band will have no hope of ever releasing music as GNR.

  4. It really is a shame if the current band haven't managed to write one song together. What a waste of time and talent.

I wonder though, even if they aren't writing as a band, these guys are song-writers - its what they do. So they must be writing on their own. Do they all submit their efforts to Axl (like DJ is on record as doing)? I wonder how many songs have been submitted to Axl over the last four years then?

  5. Axl has said to fans he's spoke to at recent after show meet n greets that there are issues with the record label.

I'm speculating here, but I wonder if the record label feel entitled to all of the songs (the alleged 50 or 60 finished or almost finished tracks) in return for their advance, but Axl feels that he has fulfilled his obligation by turning in Chinese Democracy? Are the band therefore expecting more money up front for the next album?

  6. You just exemplified why Axl hates people from the internet with this series of far fetched assumptions and guesses.

Assumptions, eh? Guesses? Its Axl's own words, you utter dick.

And while we're at it, why don't you stop assuming, and stop guessing what Axl does and does not hate. Fucking cretin.

  7. I always find it hilarious when random internet fans think they have any idea how things are between a band and their label, based off nothing but quick, off-hand comments from people in or around the band.

You find it hilarious? Are you sitting at your laptop screaming with laughter then? Really? Stop being such a pompous ass. Axl has actually said this to fans around the world. Maybe you can come up with a better explanation for his claims?

I wouldn't hand over money either if I was in the record company's position.

Agreed, DiceMan - I wouldn't hand over more money if I was the record company either. It just shitty that the fans are the ones losing out.

  8. One of the side effects of all this recent touring, is that Axl is out there again - interacting with people, and doing meet-and-greets with the fans after the shows.

And, as you would expect - what is the most common question that these fans are asking Axl? Of course - its about the next album. If some of these fans are to be believed, one of the things Axl has been saying, is that there is confusion between the band and record company about responsibilities, and who owes what to who.

I find this quite insightful. When you think about how much the record company have paid over the years, you can understand that they feel entitled to more than just Chinese Democracy for their outlay. However, GNR's record company has changed several times, with buyouts and takeovers, and this had ramifications for the band's contract, which was restructured several times.

My feeling is that GNR feel that by handing over Chinese Democracy, they have fulfilled their end of the bargain, especially as the Best Buy deal would have offset a big chunk of the label's advance to the band. It seems that the band feel that in handing over Chinese Democracy, their end of the bargain is fulfilled. However, the record company paid ridiculous amounts for studio time, rare instruments, producers, etc...... and will feel that as a result they are entitled to ALL music created during that time, and as a result of their expenditure.

In my view, this divergence in attitudes is the real cause of the delay to the follow up to Chinese Democracy. GNR are basically refusing to hand over any more music until they get a big, fat wad of cash in return. Which the record label are obviously refusing to pay, feeling that they have already paid it in advance. And sadly, this one could go on and on, dragged through the courts, and then the appeals processes.

  9. Come on, McCoy - if you want people to actually read your posts and not just skip through them, try to liven up a bit, eh? Man, you have to be one of the most boring posters on this forum.

I am sick and tired of Axl treating the fans - people who have handed him a life of luxury and debauchery - like shit. But he believes he can get away with it because, like fools, we will keep handing over our cash to watch the same tired show - the same songs covered by a bunch of hired hands. Even these hired guns must be bored by now.

So this is what I propose. Every fan entering through the arena door must wear either : a) a KFC bucket and hockey mask ; or b) a leather top hat with curly black hair attached.

Axl may be able to get security to throw out a single guy wearing a slash t-shirt, but lets see what he does when the entire 20000 capacity arena is full of slash look a likes. Or 20000 emotionless, expressionless folks staring at him blankly through identical hockey masks - this would be pretty unnerving.

I actually think this could bring on a full-blown paranoid psychotic episode. And this will have the added bonus of being a catalyst for new music. We all know that his current state of happiness/contentment is not condusive to new music, after all.

    Let's do this, everyone.

Actually, Axl has been amazing to the fans lately.

A bunch of us waited until 4 AM or so after the Phllly show and Axl came out and didn't leave until he signed something for everyone that waited around. Do you know how many fans have met the guy after various shows this year?

The band has been putting on amazing 3+ hour shows for three straight years now. That's giving the fans MORE than their money's worth.

So, it's obvious that you're just trolling for attention. No-one here is going to take your bait.

Now run along and let the adults speak.
