  1. Here's my review, apologies for the poor writting style, I'm too knackered to sit here and make it read properly!

Christ, they played for 2 1/2 hours last night! Didn't finish until gone 1am again! And getting back here from Wembley is NOT easy at that time. 4 1/2 hours it took me!!!!

Seb Bach opened and was amazing! Despite opening he still got a longer (a whole hour I think) set than Bullet For My Valentine (who were terrible), and played 90% Skid Row songs as well! 3 new tracks of his were in there too, and they sounded really good. He should have just said it was Skid Row really though, afterall, if Axl can do it...... I could have happily watched Bach all night though, he was brilliant! He came back later on for My Michelle with Guns as well (bringing GNR to a 10 man line up at that point!). It was a shame that while most people in there really seemed to like him, not many new the songs, but he went down really well on the whole. And I've never seen so much energy coming from one person in my life!

Guns played mostly the same set as usual, but threw in Rocket Queen, Anything Goes, and Back in the USSR (renamed to Back in the fuckin' UK) as well, there was also another cover I didn't know that they played when Izzy came out. I think they played all of Appetite except for Your Crazy, which I still think is a bit much considerng the strength of the material ommitted by doing that. So as ever not so much from the Illusions albums was played, but You Could Be Mine, November Rain, Live and Let Die, and Knockin' On Heavens Door, all made it in. Patience made it's obliglatory appearance as well, but unlike some of the other show Used To Love Her with Izzy was missing, I think it was replaced by the random cover. I wish they'd play more Illusions era material though, especially the stuff like Estranged and Coma that were written mainly by Axl, it seems strange to ignore so much from those albums. New song wise they just played The Blues, Better, and IRS. No Madagascar or Chinese Democracy this time which seemed odd. Bumblefoot did a instrumental version of Don't Cry for his solo, while Fink played God Save The Queen (the anthem, not the Sex Pistols tune) as the intro to Sweet Child which worked really well to keep the pace going. Fink and Fortus did Beautiful togeather again as a solo as well, while Dizzy's piano solo going into The Blues went down amazingly well. Izzy was with them for about a third of the show, but apparently got lost coming on stage initially! Good show, but lost it's momentum half way through with lost guitarists random covers, and some random competition winners who got to see them at a club in town last night at 3am performing an acoustic set as well. Cool thing to do, but kind of damaged the momentum a bit. The first half of the show was brilliant and blew the other times I'd seen them out of the water, but then it all got quite disjointed with random things going wrong with people not getting to the stage (Bach and Izzy did that) quickly. Axl kept his toys in his pram though which was a bonus! They finished, as ever, with Paradise City, but bizzarely the venue brought the lights up for the whole song, I guess they must have decided that they'd had enough and they'd played long enough, but the band didn't bat an eyelid and played the whole thing, with pyro confettie and everything else as well.

Sure as hell got value for money for the ticket price, but I was bloody sore by the end of the night!

  2. Wembley have always been very thorough with their searches, so I wouldn't chance it if I were you. They are also known for being AWFUL when it comes to getting your kit back after a gig. So my advice is not to try, and not to take a bag or anything unless you REALLY need it.

  3. I think it takes 5-10 mins if you don't get lost.

sweet ta, i probably will get lost though :( if anyone sees me please direct me :P

Assuming you can still go along Wembley way then you'd have to REALLY make an effort to get lost! Last tube is 00:21 though, so if they play late getting back could be a bitch!

I'll be the tall guy lurking around bus stops looking annoyed about how the hell to get home!

  4. I like some of it, like Deicide, and Nile, it just depends really. I prefer it live to on album though, but then I've alwys hated low budget production as it sounds too muddy to me, and most death metal albums tend to suffer from that.

  5. Got my tickets sorted the other day, I'll be the tall guy at the front pissing everyone off by blocking your view! 'AVE IT!!!

I'll be the guy on your shoulders so i get the best view ;)

I'll be the guy swiping your legs from under you, haha just kidding or am i? rock3

    Damn you all!

And you Cherry! If I get so much as one elbow in the groin as someone pushes past I'm blaming you!

its every (wo)man for themself!! i wont be pushing anyway. ill be at the front barrier hanging off it :shades: if any of you fuckers touch me i'll kick your ass

    ;)

Note duly taken. I'll see ya at the front then!

  7. Great pics, 'm amazed at the quality, I usually get awful photo's from gigs. It's so fucking cool that GnR seem to be starting to fire on all cylinders again! rock1

  8. It'd be cool if this were true, but apparently Clear Channel (the promoters) have some weird rule whereby if ou play download you can't do your own headline tour.

Plus these dates are far too near to sell well with zero promo, zero releases etc.

    Would be cool though.

    Not true.

    Tool are on tour

Coheed and Cambria are on tour.

I think you'll find 75% of the bands at download will be on tour in June time.

Good point, and I'm going to both nights of Tool in London as well! Although I'm not sure it counts as a tour really as it's just two dates, in the same place. But hey, I'm all for being wrong here!

Is Wembly actually open at the moment though? I've not heard of any gigs at the arena in months now?

  9. Tool generally take a few listens to come to terms with. I've got the first couple of tracks from 10,000 days, and more are being downloaded now (Yes, I'm 100% gaurenteed to buy the CD as well). But so far it's pretty damn good. There are always a few weird tracks like chanting and the like on Tool albums, some of them are hilarious too! As for the song length, there are many proper Tool songs that come in under the 6 minute mark, so these are pretty normal!

Roll on June, I'm seeing them twice in London :D:D:D:D

  10. I got 3 yeaterday:

    Rob Zombie - Educated Horses

Strapping Young Lad - City rock3

Strapping Young Lad - Alien rock3

City is the best of the bunch. If you like utter fucking insanity in your ears that is! rock1

  11. It's a good album, I think I need to let it grow on me a bit first. I bought it with a couple of others though, so I'm not devoting much time to it. It's less heavy than some of his previous stuff which is a shame. But there's still that effortlessly cool groove to it.

  12. A new Down album can only be a good thing! It's good to know that Phil's feeling up to performing live again as well!

Nola is my personal fav of the two albums so far.

  13. their new stuff still stinks though

no it dont, the whole come clarity album and reroute to remain are awesome

soundtrack to your escape could have been better but its stil a good cd

Amen to that! In Flames are immense. I saw them last week with Sepultura supporting, brilliant gig all round!

  14. Get in! Rob Zombie is fucking great! It's just a shame that most of his albums tend to be 50% killer, 50% filler. But still, the mans a legend! I'll be getting this on Monday!
