  1. I dont own any albums by these 2 Im afraid to say, I did have dylans greatest hits but it got lent out and i havnt seen it since :anger:  I think blood on the tracks is gonna be the next album i get, any recomendations for buying a neil young album?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Bob Dylan:

The Essential (much better than Greatest Hits)

Anything released in the '60s will be good, especially Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited.

    Neil Young:

Greatest Hits (good to start with)

    After the Harvest

  2. Neil Young creams Dylan for me.

Bob may be influential and thats all well and good, but i really don't think that his music was that good. And you can barely understand what the ---- hes saying.

Neil on the other hand writes kick ass music, both rockers and ballads and in my opinion is also very influential.

So Keep On Rockin' In The World!! :D

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

In his music? I can understand every word that Dylan has ever said in a song. He's a lot clearer in his music than most musicians. In interviews? Yeah, his words are a bit stumbled. But that doesn't really affect his legacy at all.

  3. Spoon with the truth. I'm not going to try to convert someone into a Dylan fan, but don't say something is overrated just because you don't understand it. And when you are complaining about Dylan's voice being nasally, you aren't understand the point of his music. At all.

  4. Also, some of you morons actually have to choose between two good musicians.  No more voting Motley Crue over Johnny Cash for you idiots in this poll.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Motley Crue isnt really that good. they seem to be an over egxadurated Drag queen band.

    PCE

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    I know, that's why I insulted them.

  5. Hah, not one person in here has given a reason why Axl Rose is a better songwriter. Not one. "I don't knowz pink floyd" doesn't count, sorry. For some he has seven votes, though.

By the way, you morons are biased.

  6. Null vote, I don't know Neil Young.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Check him out like I told you to!!! :)

My vote goes to Dylan. I'm a big fan of both. Dylan is the better songwriter (although Young is definitely in my top-five), and more influential. You can say Neil Young is a better musician.

Also, some of you morons actually have to choose between two good musicians. No more voting Motley Crue over Johnny Cash for you idiots in this poll.

  7. Like I said on MSN, Led Zeppelin II is very good, especially "Thank You". A very strong album. I don't own Houses of the Holy so I can't comment on that. I've only heard good things about it, though.

  8. I never really thought dylan was particularly influential. I mean, how many acoustic singer songwriters have their been that were around before him?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Dylan made the folk scene very popular. Joan Baez and Woodie Guthrie really weren't big names before Dylan revolutionized music. And stuff like Green Day's American Idiot album? Dylan did protest songs and albums before just about anyone and popularized them as well. And his songwriting has been more influential than anybody elses, too.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Mrs doubtfire is soooooo good

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Double truth!

11. Bob Dylan: Blowin' In The Wind

    Johnny Cash: Ring of Fire

Neil Young: For What It's Worth

    Pink Floyd: Hey You

Guns N' Roses: Sweet Child O' Mine

    Rolling Stones: Satisfaction

Beatles: With A Little Help From My Friends

    Michael Jackson: Billie Jean

    Led Zeppelin: Whole Lotta Love

    Van Morrison: Brown Eyed Girl

    John Lennon: Imagine

    Queen: We Are The Champions

  12. I think Bob Dylan is grossly overrated. Everyone thinks he's a magnificent lyricist, but there are guys that are way better. His vice is whiny and lame. His musical style isn't really my cup of tea. And he's too political. I hate bands that go into politics. They have no place in music. No one gives a shit what musicians think. Just play music, don't try to shove your opinions down my throat.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Wow, you are about to get fucking schooled!

Who writes better lyrics than Dylan. You can say people like Lennon, Young, Cash, etc... are just about as good, but way better? You are exaggerating a lot.

His voice isn't nearly as bad as most people think. Who cares what it sounds like anyway? The point of Dylan is the meaning in his words. And his voice matches the emotions of his songs very well. Probably better than most singers I have heard.

Before Dylan there wasn't much political music. It certainly wasn't popular. Dylan really made an impact with that. And who says politics don't fit in with music? That makes no sense. At all.

  13. You have got to be joking, i mean seriously.

Waters is only surpassed by Bob Dylan when it comes to lyric writing.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'm just trying to prove a point of how biased a typical Gn'R fan is. I have nothin to do haha

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

    Ahaha ok,

Just like how Axl beat Bob Dylan in a "greatest songwriter" poll

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Ha, that was funny. Only about two people explained their vote for Axl Rose after I begged the morons to.

Roger Waters and David Gilmour take this. They have each written a ton of powerful songs dealing with love, values, greed, power, politics, time, etc.... And it's all so true. I can see somebody making a point for Axl Rose, but really, most of the people who vote for him here are just people who aren't familiar with Pink Floyd and are too stupid to hit the 'null' button.
