  1. I think everyone already knows how I feel about Bob Dylan.

I'm a huge fan. I currently own nine of his albums, two of his books, and No Direction Home DVD (directed by Martin Scorcese, watch his other stuff like Goodfellas, etc...). But that stuff doesn't matter as much. Dylan inspired me to start writing. And right now I'm planning on majoring in literature and writing full-time, so Dylan may play a huge part in my future. And he got me to learn the harmonica.

And nobody can name a better songwriter than Bob Dylan. Not one.

  2. Who did GNR influence? I can't say I've heard many bands that sound/try to sound like GNR.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Because noone can sound like them.

    one of a kind

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's also far too soon to expect them to have a major influence on anyone, my band that I play in is heavily influenced by em but we are all around 16 years old. So I think likeminded people will show a GNR influence in the future.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

GN'R aren't in the top-50. Not even close. What influenced do they have? It's just people trying to make excuses for their biases.

  3. Wut about GN'R have they been ripped off?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No, but they've ripped off other people. "Used To Love Her" has a very similar to "Dead Flowers" by the Rolling Stones.

Buffalo Springfield also have to give "Satisfaction" credit for the riff in "Mr. Soul".

  4. 1. Elvis Presley

    2. Johnny Cash

    3. Bob Dylan

    4. Michael Jackson

    5. The Beatles

Close nominees:  Tupac Shakur, Frank Sinatra, Mick Jagger, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

As much as i love cash, I'd swap him for the stones or ray charles maybe? but thats pretty much right otherwise i think

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I didn't really put that top-five in any order. Ray Charles could work in place, too. Cash is very influential, though.

  5. i dont find LZ anywhere near as fun to listen to as GNR.

Led Zeppelin Are as Boring as FUCK!! :anger:

personally, stairway to heaven was a fluke of a song...

other than that, they have no other good songs and they are soooooooo repetitive...

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Umm.....which Led Zeppelin songs are repetitive? I'm really curious. I own three albums and no two songs sound remotely alike.

My definition of repetive is a band releasing two songs with the same name and same tune. Like Guns N' Roses did with Don't Cry. I really like both songs, but they are the same thing.

  6. Led Zeppelin are a lot better.  Who is more influential?  Led Zep.  More great albums?  Led Zep.  More popular songs?  Led Zep.  Zep owns GN'R.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

True dude, some people here just stick to their favourites and won't accept when something else is technically better.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

And who the fuck are you to tell people what music to like? Are you sitting with all the right answers regarding taste in music because you fav band is the beatles? That's funny.

Technically better? Well, I can tell you it's not like black and white compared with Gnr. Technically better is a reason people have used for liking bands like Dream Theatre. Ye, they're fucking skilled but so what, too bad they can't make anything good out of it. I saw them live a couple of months ago so I know what Im talking about.

Yamisonic didn't cross any lines. A lot of people here don't know the difference between "better" and "prefer". Trust me on that. I complain about it just about every post I make. Like I said in my post, Zeppelin excelled in more areas than GN'R did. They are better. People can like GN'R more all they want, but that's another issue.

  7. Pink Floyd. I like AC/DC okay, but I'm a big Pink Floyd fan.

People could say that AC/DC all sounds the same -- but sometimes I wonder if Floyd has the same problem? Some of it's that trippy that it all melds in for me.

A lot of their music sounds different. The Syd Barrett era had trippy psychadellic music, while Roger Waters wrote deeper music, and David Gilmour wrote totally different stuff that is just amazing musically.

  8. I think both are extremly good, in there on way.

I go with johnnys version, cause the pain in his voice seams so genuine

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Didn't he die a few weeks after his version was released? :(

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Not sure of the exact timeframe, but just a few months afterwards. The video is extremely sad. The only music video that has ever made me cry. During the line, "Everyone I know goes away in the end", the camera shows Cash looking up at a picture of his recently deceased wife, June. The line, "You can have it all; my empire of dirt" show his records shattered in pieces and his guitar rusting away. It's the greatest video ever, and nobody on this earth can convince me otherwise.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Actually, June was still alive during that time and even appeared in the video. The woman in the picture was his mother, Reba Cash.

June Carter passed away in May (15th, I believe) of 2003, and Johnny passed on 12 September, 2003.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Thanks for correcting me. I knew June was in the video and whatnot, but figured they edited in the picture bit after her death. Thanks for clarifying. The next time anyone buys an album, get American IV. It's an excellent album and includes the video as well.
